I'm so glad to hear that so many of you are convalescing well. I'm two days post-op and really feeling pretty good. I move around a lot and the only thing really uncomfortable is picking up something off the floor - ouch! I told everyone about my plans so I have been inundated with phone calls, visits, and flowers already. But it helps keep me from being so bored. I am drinking a 20 oz. Isopure protein drink per day and dilute it with 50% water and that's all I have an appetite for so far. I read somewhere that we are not supposed to use a straw the first week - did anyone use a straw and have any trouble? Have a good Sunday evening and warm wishes to those being banded tomorrow! My day went well - I had the surgery at 9:30 and was discharged at 1:30. The doctor found a hiatal hernia and I was so surprised as I have rarely ever had heartburn or reflux! Two of my nurses have been banded and look great - they were able to answer questions from personal experience. Anyway I have the expected tightness and the gas pain must already be traveling as it's gone from the front to under my left shouldler blade. Thanks to all of you I am not alarmed and have tried all the "hints" I've picked up here (walk, peppermint tea, walk, heating pad, walk). But I think I will take the pain meds tonight so I can get a better quality sleep. Stefanie, in response to your questions, I live in Arlington so Hurst is only 1/2 hour away and was convenient for me. The HR in my moniker does stand for Human Resources as I work as an HR Director. Sounds like we have some things in common starting with the wonderful Dr. Marsden! Thanks to all of you who sent well wishes today - you are a wonderful source of inspiration and support.

Hi, everyone! I will be banded tomorrow and am really excited. I can't tell you all how much you have helped me get mentally prepared with all your posts. I'm sure I'll be logging in the next few days with questions and hope that soon I'll be able to be of support to others. Stefanie, I have followed your posts carefully as we have the same doctor - glad to hear things went well with your check-up visit. Good night (hope I get some sleep!)

Hi, I'm scheduled for surgery on June 22 - am on day 2 of the pre-op diet. I have "lurked" a while on this website and plan to participate more now that I am in the active phase. I have learned a lot from everyone who is willing to share. One thing I haven't figured out is how do you get your Ticker.com transferred to this website and associated with your log-on? Thanks!
  5. Hi, I went for my consultation last Tuesday, had medical tests on Friday, had to allow 2 weeks for pre-op diet and am scheduled for surgery on June 22. So it was about a month for me.
