  1. Happy 49th Birthday prurep!

  2. Thanks for all your input. I have now had two endoscopies, colonoscopy, abdominal/pelvic cat scan and all pretty much show nothing. I have an hiatal hernia as shown by my upper gi but the acid reflux is controlled with protonix. Surgeon says that is not causing my pain. No one believes its the band; however, there was a mention of a band intolerance...so I am now going to research that.
  3. I got my lapband in may 2007 and have lost approximately 65 lbs. Things were going great until early december 2008, I began to have reflux (which I never had) and abdominal pain below my band closer to my belly button. Long story short, I have had one hospitalization, two upper gi's, two endoscopys, cat scan and colonscopy to determine the band looks fine but there "food sitting at the top". I am absolutely miserable, some days I can't eat or drink anything. I have trouble sleeping if I eat with 4 hours of going to bed due to the pain and the reflux. They say there is no slippage and no erosion, even my lapband doctor said he didn't know. He said it wasn't my lapband but gastrologist said he couldn't find anything else so the band would probably have to come out. Help! Has anyone else had this problem?:welldoneclap:
  4. I am almost two years post op and my abdominal pain started in Dec 2008. I ended up hospitalized before they decided my band needed to be deflated. The doctor did that and I got some temporary relief but now the pain is worsening again. It feels like gas pain but there is no relief with any medication. I can correlate it with any specific food. When it comes it stays for hours...sometimes 10 or 12 hours or more and I can't even take a drink of water while it is hurting. It is straight across my belly button so it is well below my band. My endoscopy and upper gi's have shown nothing. I have appointment with bariatric doctor today in hopes of some clue to resolving this.

    May 2007 Banders

Using unjury which has 20g per scoop with 4 oz of 1% milk at least twice a day so that's like 24g x two. Then I was doing lowfat cottage cheese and cream soup with unjury scoop so I haven't had a problem getting 50-60g protein a day. As long as I do the two protein drinks a day I get my protein in but I'm afraid to do more than four ounces...don't want to stretch my stomach. So everything is measured by 1/2 cup. Every doctor seems to have very different guidelines.

    May 2007 Banders

Okay I am a fairly new bandster...banded 5/23/2007...and doing fine so far but I have a question. I am limited to 4oz (3 meals/3 Snacks a day). Then Water and crystal light throughout the day (except half hour before/after meal or snack). So I can only have a half a cup of Protein Shake or soup...which fills me up...are you allowed to have more than that?
  7. I'm sure everyone has a good reason why they don't want to share this with anyone but I opted to tell everyone and I am please with the support I have had at home, work, and church. I was so excited and I felt that I needed everyone to know to help reinforce my need for discipline. As for going back to work in two days...good luck with that...I still hurt alot in two days...very similar to my gallbladder surgery. Be careful, you will be very tired with taking in so few calories as your body adjust to the liquid diet. My stance is there is nothing to be ashamed of...it's not a secret we are overweight...why should it be a secret on how we choose to loose the weight. You might be surprised by how supportive your peers are.

    Lifting

I had my surgery 5/23 and went for f/u 6/7 and the doctors said no lifting restrictions now...I work at airport and need to be able to lift 70lbs. He said I can't hurt anything. I'd avoid the lifting for a week or two then I would think you'd be good to go.
  9. You lost 16 lbs in a month and you are eating normal food? are you sticking to the 4 to 5 oz of food at a meal and not drinking? I had my surgery 5/23 and have been afraid of testing the waters...more so because I'm enjoying the weight loss. I think the diet is intended to instill habits as much as it is to protect the new stomach.
  10. I had lapbad on May 23. There does seem to be a wide variety to diets. My dr. has me on liquids (lowfat cream soups, pudding, yogurt and definitely protein drinks) for til first f/u which is thursday. I'm supposed to have 4oz 6times a day which is almost impossible. I am supposed to get 50-60 grms of protein a day! I feel great. No trouble with hunger (just boredom) or nausea. I actually got my walking up to a mile yesterday and I can't imagine doing that on a clear liquid diet. Down about 12lbs which is about a 1lb a day! Can't wait for pureed diet on Thursday though!:clap2:
  11. Hi I am in Florence KY and I just had the surgery 5/23/2007 at St. Luke by Dr. Sonnanstine. So far I am very happy with everything. I typically do everything in my power to avoid using hospitals in Northern Ky but I was very satisfied with my care at St. Luke and thus far with the staff at Dr. Sonnannstine's office.
