What is one guilty pleasure you cannot give up
sharonintx replied to AussieSam's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I didn't give up anything either. There are several things that I used to like and now I don't care for them anymore but I have never excluded anything on purpose. Oddly, apples do not sit well anymore and I despise whipped cream. -
Afraid of the new me and losing who I am now...
sharonintx replied to allyray's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@gowalking I would say you were beautiful to begin with and the smile on your face in your 'after' picture not only reflects that same thing but an additional radiance coming from the inside. -
Sometimes we may very well stretch the truth when we respond to someone whether its here or as we go about our daily life. We don't do it to lie to someone necessarily, even though technically it is indeed a lie. We do it because it's the thoughtful thing to say and because everyone needs a little love and support. I like to see a genuine smile on someone's face because I told them how great they are doing and how lovely or handsome they look. Maybe every little bit of support they get helps them continue on their path. Maybe that's the only nice thing thats been said to them in a very long time. I would never want to see any hurt or bad feelings in someone's eyes because I told them they looked like a stuffed sausage in those clothes. Be kind. The effort you put into it will be returned to you one day when you really need it.

Ok, this label "Super Obese" !?
sharonintx replied to VDB's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Oh - haha. I thought someone labeled you as obese so you put on a cape and became Super Obese. -
Haha - I promise it is not the easy way out. The be quite honest, when I went to have this surgery I figured it would be a whole lot easier than continuing the constant weight battle. Well the joke was on me. This is the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. Was it worth it? Yes. Would I do it again? Probably. But don't ever believe that its the easy way out. Your choice is yours alone. I hope you make the best choice for your personally. Your post just caught my eye and I wanted to throw it out there that people can say what they want but this is sure as heck not the easy way out.

If I had made the same choice as you when I was 32 it would have saved me a whole lot of trouble. Good for you and best wishes.

True Results in Dallas and a couple others advertise cash price anywhere from 5K to 7500. Maybe there's a cheaper option for your wife? -

Trying to get my head straight. Input requested :)

You aren't going backwards:) You are doing a great job and if you recognize that you've slipped a time or two then you've almost won the battle. Your weight loss couldn't possibly keep up at the same pace as it was the first few months. You'd dry up and blow away. Your body has worked extremely hard in recovering from surgery and from losing a lot of weight real fast. You are right where you should be. Sometimes when I forget to take my Vitamin I spend the rest of the day worrying that my hair will start falling out or that some other horrible thing will happen. Silly isn't it? Just today I went in the store to look for some pants. Causes a huge problem. I've waited all these years to simply shop in the regular size section and now that I can I never find anything I want. I still wander over to the plus size and wonder why all the clothes look so big. I have 3 pairs of size 12 pants. They are too loose. So today when I saw some capri pants that were cute, what size did I pick up??? A 12. I put them back and studied the size 10 for a good while. Then I bought them. Now I'm convinced that after I wash them there's no way it will fit. I look in the mirror and see just as much fat as ever. Haha. It's funny in a way. But just know that you aren't alone. I guess we all go through it to some extent. The fact is that neither you or I are near a big as we once were. Others see it! We look good girl - don't worry too much. You are doing just great. -
@@wascott I would choose to go big and eat the entire Dorito

I think that was very well said LipstickLady.

At the risk of being branded a rebel, if it were me I would eat it.

sharonintx replied to gilit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

@@proudgrammy Thanks proudgrammy. It wasn't me though. But I'll take a vote of confidence from you any day!

Newbie here --- my surgery was March 24, 2015
sharonintx replied to mamaD's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome mamaD. Don't worry you'll get happy later on:) It's hard during the first few weeks. You'll adjust slowly but surely and you'll get happier all the time. I have trouble with liquids too. Plain Water doesn't sit well for some reason. If I make iced tea I can drink quite a bit of it. Sometimes just changing the water into something else makes a big difference. Some don't drink with meals and some do. I usually drink a little bit but not much. It takes up room that I want to use for the food. Your weight loss will kick in any day now! Hang in there. -
You look great! Congratulations

5 days post op can't do all liquid diet. Anyone else do okay on soft foods?
sharonintx replied to nugirl402's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think all of you are right. That's why this is such a wonderful place for info and support. I just answered the original question. I would never presume to tell someone else to do what I did nor would I tell them what the correct way is. Just posting my own experience. -

So sorry Judy. That's certainly not what you had in mind when you signed on for this surgery. I wish you the best and hope you find a solution. -

sharonintx replied to nugirl402's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I just can't get past this sort of thinking. If you're so capable of intelligent decisions about your own diet and your own best interests, how did you get obese in the first place? It wasn't from making intelligent decisions. I guess this is one of those times when I just have to say "well good on ya". Its probably because as individuals our level of obesity and personal goals are very different from one another. Your goals are yours and no one need question your motives nor your method of achieving them. Others may have very different reasoning and methods of reaching their goals. That's what makes this forum a great place. We can all answer questions according to our own experience and not have to concern ourselves with someone else's idea of what is 'right'. I say good for all of us for taking steps to improve our lives in whatever manner we choose. -
