    Today!

Congratulations Laura! That's just great and I wish you all the success in the world.
  3. If your allowed, the V8 Fusion drinks are quite delicious
  4. Ok I'm a bit slow but people actually make more than one account in order to subject us all to even more BS? Great. It's pretty sad when you can't even join an online support forum and expect it to be that simple. It's Jr High all over. I hated Jr High.
  5. I had my stitches out after 10 days like the Dr told me to. They said that a couple of them were a little infected and to use peroxide. So I did. I've been cleaning them very well for about a week now and the healing is slow going. They itch! Just wondering if anyone else had this issue and how long did it take you to heal up completely??
  6. Oh yum - red velvet cheesecake. I'm hungry now. It wouldn't even have to be cheesecake. A McDonalds cheeseburger, a burrito, oh heck just anything. It's looking like I'll go make myself an egg now and perhaps be able to eat most of it:)

what to tell, who to tell, when to tell...

I've been pretty open with everyone I know. I've gotten a few curious looks from a couple of people but mostly everyone is supportive. A lot of them are curious as to what the surgery entails so I explain it to them and they either look at me kinda funny ( lmao) or are encouraging in their replies. Yes - I can tell that a few think I am taking the easy way out. Like I care what they think. At almost 3 weeks out I can assure you it's not the easy way out. In fact, it's harder than I thought it would be. It's all up to you. If you wanna keep it private then by all means do so. if you wanna let it be known and just sit and wait for the first person to give you a smart remark then so be it. All that matters it you made your choice and you make your own decisions. Anyone not liking it can go ( fill in appropriate insult ) themselves.
  9. Learning to eat slow is the worst! Sometimes I'll take a couple of bites and then remember I'm supposed to eat slowly. Cramming it down your whole life is not a habit that is easily broken and how true it is that no one wakes up from surgery knowing exactly what to do. To be honest, this adjustment is way harder than I thought it would be but I'm managing one day at a time. You are doing great - just stay the course.
  10. I went to Mexico too. I was perfectly safe, the Dr was excellent, the hospital staff was very good to me, and I don't regret my decision. I've lost 21.5 lbs in 2 and a half weeks. It's hard to stand up to your parents. I know this very well. You are a grown woman and can make your decision. Not sure what's up with your husband but if mine pulled a stunt like that he would very soon find himself an "Ex-Husband".

    Ummm

Bahahahahaha! What a great post! I can't take large drinks either. I've actually pondered the same question and have decided I won't even try because the thought of it makes me a bit nauseous. Not even gonna be a spitter for a while. However, if you decide to try it remember that its protein. And thanks again for posting that question. You made my day.

    Struggling

Ah yes - the two year old whine machine. I remember it well. What Chelenka said is true. Your child can sense that something is up with you and is unable to express it any other way. That's one of the worst parenting issues I've ever faced. To have to be "mommy" and put your own issues aside for the sake of the child really does suck most of the time. But it's what we do and it's what makes us extraordinary human beings. You will make it through this just fine. Just be mommy and worry about your own issues later:) I can't imagine having to be around the pastries all day. You are a better woman than I to even show up at work. You are doing a great job - keep it up! Oh, and I am about 5 days behind you after the surgery. I actually tried to eat some pizza. It was good but after the hassle of chewing it to death and the fact that I was able to eat about 3 bites before I gave the rest to the dog made it seem not worth the hassle of eating it. Back to the soft scrambled eggs

    1 Week Post-OP

Going out to eat is a tough one. I've tried it twice now and made it ok but I found that restaurant food doesn't agree with me. It's hard to watch the others eat like it's their last meal but I know if I eat too much I will feel horrible so I just don't do it. I'm so sorry that you are being made fun of for not eating yourself into oblivion. You just stay the course! Sometimes the people who know I've had this surgery but have never had weight issues themselves will give me a look that suggests I'm out of my mind and should have just stuck to diet and exercise. I would like to punch them in their face but instead I just smile and carry on. I figure the joke will be on them one day when I look about 10 times better than they do. Or I may be feeling really rude and think to myself how I can fix weight issues but they can never fix ugly. haha! Let us know the verdict of your weigh in and keep up the good work. You are awesome.
  14. I went to Tijuana alone on March 8. Only a handful of people knew I went. I felt completely safe the entire time. Even went shopping the day before surgery. Don't worry about safety unless you plan to go out at night to questionable places. When you arrive you will certainly be met by a driver that will take you where you need to go. There will most likely be others going to the same place as you and you will find that there is a big support system just being with the others in your group. The day of your surgery you will also be among kindred spirits at the hospital. Everyone is in the same boat as you are and you'll find a lot of support just being with them. If you are flying in to San Diego - the airport personnel are very familiar with WLS travelers and they can direct you where you need to be. Don't worry too much. Just wait to be picked up then stay with your group. It's like instant friendship from the minute you arrive. You'll do great!

2 days out, lost 7lbs already..

I thought the burping would never end. I'm a little over 2 wks out now and it has lessened quite a bit.
  16. My husband and kids knew where I was going and a handful of friends. Husband supportive, kids were not as pleased but had the good sense not to say much about it. I told my mom and brother I was getting a lap band and let them assume I meant close to home. I told them both the horrible truth about where I went and that I had the sleeve when I returned from Mexico. I explained that I didn't want them to worry unnecessarily about me going to MX. They were not that happy but have been supportive since then.

    Help! I'm hungry!

I ate some crackers on day 5 or 6. Chewed them until they were mushy. No adverse effects. I'm continually amazed at the variations in diet from one surgeon to another. I will say this - the type of food one eats makes a huge difference. At home I can eat most anything that I can chew until it becomes mushy. Have been to a restaurant with the family a couple times ( I'm day 17 as of today) and had a few bites of the least offending items. The restaurant food makes me feel bad. It must be in the preparation of the food. I find it too rich and heavy to tolerate. Maybe they load it up with lard or other greasy stuff? Just an observation.
  19. Nothing like hearing a discouraging comment! I'm the same height as you and pre-op was 222 lbs. I'm 16 days out now and have lost 20 lbs. I know the weight loss will slow down at some point but I'm happy with what I can get. I don't think you can generalize how much weight one person will lose as compared to other groups. Some people lose fairly easily and others fight for each and every pound. I think the important thing is that you will lose weight no matter how fast or slow. You don't have the time or the need for any preconceived notions as to how much you will lose.
  20. I didn't quit before surgery and haven't quit after. Oh - and I'm not looking for a lecture on this subject. I'm giving an honest answer to the question. I had no problems with surgery and haven't had a problem since the surgery. Yes I know I should quit but I'm not ready. I already gave up food as I've always known it. I'll give up smoking when I decide to. Not advocating smoking, just saying it hasn't cause me a problem. I'm healing well and am able to eat a variety of things.

March 8th Sleevers Weight Loss So Far?

Got sleeve on March 8, down 20 lbs. I'm wondering what everyone else's challenges are as well. Here's mine: Protein - cannot manage to get enough Liquids - I've never been a big drinker of water etc. I'm making an effort but still don't get near enough. Tiredness - I'm tired all the time. I suspect more water would help. I went to a martial arts tournament with my kids yesterday, came home at 2 pm and slept on and off the rest of the day. Exercise - too tired. I know more exercise would help with the tiredness. There's probably more that I'm not thinking of just now but don't feel like putting forth the energy to think of them:)

    Gross topic

I'm with Bunny! I want a salad so bad. I am only 2 weeks out so I guess I'll wait a while but I would seriously enjoy a salad.
