Down 25 pounds in First Week!
sharonintx replied to KhadijahRose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you! That is just great and I hope you start to see it for yourself. Isn't it funny how we can't see what others see as far as our own weight loss? You are just beautiful and I wish you all the best. -
Great job and congratulations to you!

No I don't think you are being petty at all. People can be so insensitive and selfish. -
Congratulations! Best wishes to you in your journey.

Liquid phase did yu cheat
sharonintx replied to Vsgmommy19's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've added new foods as I could tolerate them. Yogurt, Jello, etc in week one, week 2 mushy foods, and now in the 3rd week I am eating a few solid foods but nothing too extreme. I learned what I couldn't tolerate pretty fast because it would make me feel bad. There's a lot of variation between on Dr and another. I think the trick is to take it slowly and add things one at a time and remember that the eating habits you develop post op are the ones that will follow you from now on and will dictate your weight loss and success. -
A stall here too - about 3 weeks out. Just gonna be patient:)

sharonintx replied to gelen's_change's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I;m having the 3 week stall too. Oh well. I guess the scale will move eventually; I did have a couple of incisions open up a little when the stitches came out. I've been nursing them for 2 weeks and they are finally healing pretty well. I'm down 21 lbs and waiting for more to fall off! Glad to hear all of you are doing well too. Is anyone still extremely tired?? I am! -
I ate a few pieces of Easter candy. It was delicious! I'm not sorry I ate it and not ashamed either:)

You know the old saying - you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. I used to have a boss with the same issue. He weighs maybe 330 and went to a bariatric surgeon to check into it. Obviously he qualified and he had the money to pay his copay. But he never followed through. To this day he is still 330 or more and he thinks he is doing ok. It wasn't the surgery he was avoiding - it was spending the money. All the talking in the world cannot get this guy to do what he needs to do. Hopefully your aunt will see the light but if she doesn't all you can really do is love her as is and pray that she sees the light one day.

I'm a little more than 3 wks out now and experienced the same thing. For the first couple of weeks I thought I was starving. As more time goes by I find that I'm not hungry at all and have to make myself eat something. It just takes a little getting used to not eating much. When I started eating some real food the head hunger went away and now I eat out of necessity instead of hunger. You'll do great!

That' great! I'm 3 weeks out too and have been able to eat most anything I've tried. A few things have disagreed with me but I've never been sick. I'm still tired a lot but overall am good. I'm down 21 lbs and looking forward to more.

Freshly sleeved....Livonia MI
sharonintx replied to JennaG0902's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Jenna and welcome. I was sleeved on March 8 and am feeling ok. I'm tired most of the time and truthfully I'm not enjoying this adjustment to my new way of eating. I know it's necessary and in my best interest so I try not to complain much. When the scale drops a pound or so I'm very happy so it's worth the hassle of adjusting. I'm down 21 pounds and looking forward to more! -

How to explain why i need this
sharonintx replied to mistysj's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I usually think of it this way: Yes I can lose weight on a diet. The problem is that when I return to eating a regular diet the weight comes back. Its a vicious cycle that we've all been thru more than once. I chose the sleeve because I'm too tired and too old to keep fighting this battle. The sleeve will allow me to win the battle once and for all and I can begin to live my life without the weight issue always hanging over my head. Or if all else fails just say you are getting it because you want it - case closed:) -
I don't mean to give a sarcastic reply, but if my husband ever spoke to me that way I would wait until he was asleep, get the cast iron skillet out of the kitchen, go wake him up, then the first thing he'd see when he opened his eyes would be the skillet crashing down on his face. Do not put up with this type of BS. Life is too short and the time you spend wondering how to 'fix him' - well that is time you'll never get back.

Nearly 4 weeks out update: I'm feeling pretty good, just tired a lot. Went to the bowling alley yesterday and did fine until the 10th frame and decided I was finished for the day. I'm eating most anything that soft or easily chewable. I've found that if a particular food doesn't agree with me I get a little chilled and feel dizzy. The incisions are taking longer than I'd like to heal but are getting better each day. I've lost 21 lbs and do not regret this surgery for one minute. The adjustment to this new lifestyle is harder than I thought it would be but I'm making small progress each day in learning how to succeed. Good luck to you! -
I had a dream about bacon. And it was delicious:)
