JUST HAD MY FIRST ULTRASOUND
sharonintx replied to Amytequilahouse's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
That's awesome! Congratulations and best wishes to you. -
Well giggles - I have a mirena and the monthly cycle isn't an issue for me personally but this is what I can tell you: yes, your cycle can definitely be affected by the drastic weight loss you are having. The sleeve has changed everything your body knew about itself and now it's having to readjust. Asking your Dr is a great idea. I'm pretty sure he/she will ease your worries about this issue. I wouldn't spend a lot of time worrying though:)

am I being naive? ?
sharonintx replied to PhoenixTheDiva's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've been pretty open about it with the people around me. Most are supportive, some don't seem to know what to say, and a very few have given me a look that suggests they think I'm taking the easy way out. Bahahahaha! What morons they are. Hopefully the next time they eat to their heart's content they will choke on it! -
Sweet! Awesome job pretty girl and congratulations.

Anybody regretted it, even with no complications?

^5 on the beer swampdonkey! I don't want a beer but a margarita or some other delicious adult beverage would be awesome. Oh yeah - and some nachos to go with it. -
Loosing stopped! How to get motivated
sharonintx replied to Trip2thin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi there and welcome. I live in Mesquite and am in Rockwall 3 nights a week at the Rockwall Indoor Sports Expo. We're neighbors:) I'm pretty new to the sleeved life but like you I despise counting calories and my exercise habits could use some improvement. I'm not in the position to offer advice but if you are lacking in the exercise dept you are gonna have to get the calorie intake under control. You have come too far and lost too much weight to let this go unchecked. Doesn't it suck that our relationships with and feelings about food will never truly go away? I hate that! You know what to do - mind your eating habits. I'm so happy to have a sleeve neighbor. If you'll send me a private message I'll give you my email address so we can keep in touch. -
How long was your surgery?
sharonintx replied to Bmordan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine took less than an hour and I was by myself the whole time until I went home. I felt pretty good and didn't really need an extra person around that I would have had to talk to:) -
I hate liquids too. I didn't really get a lot of post op instructions ( sleeved in Mexico ) so I've been winging it. A little more than 3 weeks out I can eat most anything within reason and have had no issues at all. I'm waiting to add things like salad and steak but I sure wish I had some. This continual battle to get enough liquids each day is just that - a constant battle. Hang in there! I see some refried beans in your near future.

How much salad can you eat?
sharonintx replied to tomato pie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I want some salad! -
Dry skin too! I never had dry skin before and now it's an issue. My skin care expenses have increased dramatically.
-
Yes - a lot of things just don't seem as appealing anymore. I haven't really lost my taste for sweets but I find that they make me feel bad. Go figure.

Sleeved on 3-8, down 21 lbs, and stuck here for days. Patiently ( somewhat ) waiting for weight loss to resume.

Proudgrammy said it best - ride the wave. ( good one ). I'm riding the 3 week stall wave too. It's a major bummer. How can one not lose weight while eating between 400-800 calories a day?? I dunno but the weight is bound to come off eventually. Hang in there! I'll be hanging in with you.

Oh yes. I didn't expect the emotional changes that would take place. I'm normally not an overly emotional person. Since the surgery a little over 3 weeks ago I've experienced more emotional issues than I have in many years. I'm not really one to cry or act sad or depressed so it has come out as anger or irritation. All last week I had to make a real effort to keep it in check because this was my decision ( no regret in having this surgery) and the people around me do not need to take the heat for it. Since having a little pow wow with myself I have been able to rise above for the most part and am starting to get back to my usual, pretty pleasant self. This surgery and the lifestyle change it requires is one of the hardest things I've ever done. It does get better once you come to terms with the changes that are taking place. For me it's like an acceptance of what I've done and a resignation to deal with the aftermath. I'm hoping to become overjoyed with it any day now:)

Am I the only one that sometimes wonders if this forum should be renamed Peyton Place? -
That's extremely awesome! Congratulations
-
That's great news - am happy for you! Thanks for sharing your story.

Yep me too. What I find odd is that it makes noises a lot higher up than it did before the surgery. I suppose that's due to most of it being missing at this point. Just an observation.

7 weeks out and 27 lbs down.
sharonintx replied to usmcmorninngstar@yahoo.com's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That is just great! You look beautiful - keep it up:) -
This happens to me too but for different reasons than I see listed here. If I eat something that disagrees with me I will begin to feel dizzy and weak. It doesn't happen any other time. It's very strange. I know within a few minutes if a particular food is going to be off limits because the dizziness sets in pretty quickly and my heart rate increases for no reason.

Excellent article - thanks for posting

I hate it when I get greedy too! I haven't actually thrown up or gotten slimes but I have eaten a little too much or some of the wrong thing and felt so bad I had to go lay down. This learning how to eat thing is a real hassle, But we will learn and move ahead. Sorry you were sick - that sucks.
-
Ok here we go: I don't regret having the sleeve and I'm sure in a few months I'll be happy as hell. In the meantime these are the issues - Figuring out how to eat while missing 85% of your stomach. I hate that! I had surgery in Mexico because that's what I could afford to do. Did I think I wouldn't require any counseling or guidance? Yep! Well wrong! This is the most difficult adjustment I've ever had to make. Today I ate 6 Ritz crackers with a little hunk of cheese on top. Too much! It made me feel bad. One more lesson learned. Only have 4 Ritz crackers and then you won't feel bad. I hate protein shakes. I hate water. I don't get near enough water or protein. Yes I know I need to step it up. I'm currently busy feeling sorry for myself at having to make this adjustment so I'll step it up any day now. I've lost over 20 lbs in less than 3 weeks. I should be overjoyed. But I'm not. I don't know why. There seems to be a lot of emotions swirling around that I am unaccustomed to. When will these leave so I can get on with being my normal, non-emotional self? I just don't know! I'm tired, my tummy is still somewhat swollen, incisions are healing but taking longer than I'd like, and wearing my regular clothes is uncomfortable. I'm not a wear your sweatpants in public kinda gal. My entire life I have made sure that I look nice, hair and makeup as good as I can get them, and I pull myself together before I step out the door. Well not now! is this superficial? Oh yes! But i don't even care. I prefer to look nice and I'm damn tired of these sweatpants. I could go on and on but I guess I've summed it up well enough. I'd feel a lot better to know that others felt the same and when exactly did it get better. Thanks for listening. Yes I need to get my s##t together and shut up. I'll do it later.
