    wow

I agree with the go to Mexico reply.
  2. I'm not 100% either and its been 5 weeks. I don't know why its taking me so long to bounce back. Maybe I'm just old. I dunno. But it does get a little better all the time.
  3. Yes. The tape, bandaids, all of it gives me a horrible rash. 5 weeks later its nearly cleared up but I'm still using the cortisone cream.
  4. Laura is right. The only way to get the gas to work it's way out of your body sooner is to walk. No fun but it really does help a lot.
  5. I agree with OTR. Please tell us the reasons for your regrets. It will be helpful to those considering surgery and give the rest of us a complete picture of the possible problems.

That's awesome!! Congratulations and I hope you can schedule your surgery very soon. Just think - a whole new life is waiting for you:)

    Cannot believe it!

    That's awesome!
  8. I would have it again. Here's the deal - I went into surgery with a 35 BMI. I have absolutely NO comorbities. None whatsoever. I did it because I'm tired of the weight loss battle. Plain and simple. I knew the risks of surgery up front. I will admit to not fully understanding the emotional changes that would take place but I am a reasonably intelligent adult and have since developed an understanding and am dealing with it accordingly. I'll admit to doing this for predominately vanity reasons. Big deal. I knew my risks, made my decision, and went to Mexico to appease my own vanity. Big deal. It was my time, my money, and my choice. And I'd choose the same thing again. I don't wish complications on anybody. That is a truly tragic thing and my heart goes out to those with regrets or who have experienced a loss. The bottom line? Know your risks, make an informed decision, and hope for the best. That's all anyone can do. Don't judge anyone else for the decisions they make. If they ask for your experience then tell them and let it be.
  9. I wouldn't think it was a leak unless you also have other symptoms like dizziness, fever, etc.

    Question to all

I am 5 weeks out and can eat most anything too. Ice cream or frozen yogurt doesn't sit too well and sometimes restaurant food makes me feel sick but for the most part I can eat what I choose.
  12. I had Dr Almanza in Tijuana. Everyone in the OR wore a surgical mask - at least they had on on until they knocked me out. I'm pretty sure they kept them on:)

    Sleep

Me too! Initially post op I was sleeping fine but now I have trouble staying asleep. It's just ridiculous.

    Confessions...

Hey I did that! This was the weekend I crossed over the line between overly cautious and eating what I'd really like. So here's what happened - Friday night was at El Fenix with the family. I ate a taco and drank 1/3 of a peach margarita. And a few chips. I was quite full and I discovered that it's true what they say about sleeves and alcohol. I didn't need very much at all. Saturday night - we went to a local sports bar. I ate 1 stuffed jalapeno pepper. Man was it good! Had 1/2 of a buffalo chicken wing and about 7 chili cheese fries. I was full and couldn't eat another bite. Had less than half of a frozen margarita and lost interest in it. i wasn't sick and felt fine other than being full. So now I know. I can eat some of this stuff from time to time and not become ill. It was an awesome discovery.

    Why mexico ?

Yes - for those who have no insurance or do not qualify under their insurance plan going to Mexico is significantly cheaper if you have to pay cash. It's an average of $5000 compared with 12-20+ thousand bucks at home.

    Manners Matter...

Amen! And how right you are in saying that some people compensate for their own shortcomings by slamming someone else. I've seen it over and over on this forum. Like you, I've decided to stick around too. No need to let the miserable folks make the rest of us miserable too.
  17. haha! Good one about the bra! I'm looking forward to systematically getting rid of all my clothes and replacing them with new ones. I'm looking forward to seeing what the scale will say 6 months from now. I must admit I will enjoy seeing the looks on peoples faces when they notice me shrinking up before their eyes. A new bathing suit would be just great about 4 sizes smaller than usual.

    this sux

Hey there Juan:) The liquid diet really bites doesn't it? And I know it will be a long 3 weeks. I feel your pain. But this is the deal - if you don't have the stupid liquid diet, they won't give you the surgery. If you don't have the surgery you will stay in the place you are, which is wanting to lose weight and not having the success that you want. That's why you chose to go the surgery route. After you have your surgery you will completely morph into a whole new person (on the outside anyway). Just think of how you'll look in a few short months post op! It's gonna be awesome. .It sucks to have to do the liquid diet. I know that very well. But you gotta! You can do this. And if you need an understanding ear in the meantime you can find it right here. Hang tough and fight the good fight:)

    nerves

Awww....it's gonna be ok! I understand everything you are describing. The emotional part of this whole thing was something I was completely unprepared for. It hit me like a ton of bricks. It's now been 5 weeks and I'm still adjusting but it is a whole lot better than the first 2 weeks. It gets so much easier when you can move along to some real food. Even some scrambled eggs made me feel a lot less sorry for myself. Am I sorry i did it? Nope. This battle with food is something I never could beat for any length of time. Now I'm winning the battle all right and it comes with a price. You are ahead of the game because you recognize the price up front. You can do it! You a are strong girl and a very pretty one at that. You can conquer the food demons one battle at a time. All you have to do is make it through your 2 weeks pre op diet and it will be downhill from there. You have friends right here to help you thru and I've read your posts since you joined here - you are a smart lady and you got this:)

    FRUSTRATED!

    I'm right there with ya.

    Sugar

It happens to me too but not specifically with sugar. Some sweets give me the same feeling as you and others are fine. But some non-sweet food will give me the same reaction. Food from restaurants doesn't sit well at all.
  22. 5 weeks out and I've not felt hungry yet. I still want food but not because I'm hungry. I just want it because it's there. I'm pretty lucky because when I go ahead and eat it, I can only eat a few bites. It's kinda strange but I haven't felt hungry at all.

    Second Thoughts

Well Jen, you are correct that you will still want food. At least for a good while immediately post op. It's awfully hard to make these changes with your dear old friend food. I haven't been enjoying it at all. But what I do enjoy is the numbers on the scale that have gone down since surgery. It takes a little while to resign yourself to a whole new life as far as eating goes. There is good news. You will be able to make the changes even though you don't enjoy it. And you'll be able to eat most anything you want at some point, just not a whole lot of it. The benefits of the sleeve far outweigh the difficulties. The choice is yours. Don't fear the changes in eating though. You will adjust and eventually be glad you did it. The hard part only lasts a while. The benefits will last you the rest of your life.
  24. Oh me too Aaron! I am a 5 hr energy addict. I haven't had one in 5 weeks since surgery. I look at the 2 little bottles I have from before each morning. And I want one! I've been thinking of going for it but so far have held off. I can feel it coming though. I'm gonna drink one of them very soon. And a margarita - I'm gonna have one of those any day as well. Quite possibly tonight:)
