I drank a frozen margarita no problem. Couldn't drink it all because I got full but it was fine.

    My insensitive coworker

I know what you mean about working in a family run company. I worked for one of those for over 8 years. There are certainly advantages but plenty of drawbacks too. The family got very comfortable with me and vice versa. The problem was that they got so used to me that they would speak to me just as if I were family, which is great unless it's a situation like you describe. People can be such idiots. I'm sorry you are having to deal with this and I hope you can resolve it one way or another. The reasons your weight went up are very personal and painful for you and I'm so sorry you are in this position.

    Guilt and what to do?

You don't have to tell anyone if you don't want to and don't feel guilty at all. It was your choice to have the surgery and you can choose who you will or will not tell. I just went ahead and told everyone I see on a regular basis because it was just easier than having to explain over and over. Most everyone was supportive - one lady even went on a diet (lol). But you are not obligated to tell a darn thing.
  4. Yes! All the food commercials need to be banned. Especially the ones for Outback Steak House, any restaurant as featuring the newest dessert, and the endless tacos and enchiladas at On The Border. even a double cheeseburger from McDonalds sounds pretty good. Not that I can eat more than 4-5 bites

    March sleever here

Well - this isn't a popular course of action but I was eating many solid foods at 3 weeks and now at 5 weeks I eat anything I want. The only things that have bothered me are salad and food that is very sweet or really rich. I came back from MX with no real guidelines so I made my own. Of course, you should follow your Dr's recommendations but as soon as you can try some scrambled eggs, cream of wheat, maybe some oatmeal etc. Pretty much anything becomes puree if you chew it long enough:)

Awesome! You'll handle all the little issues that arise just fine. I hope your surgery goes great and you have a speedy recovery.

    Happy or...huh?

The ladies are right again. Behavioral issues don't go away because you wake up to find your stomach is mostly gone. I wish I had gone to a support group or something before this surgery. Adjusting to your new way of life isn't a lot of fun and you need to be totally prepared and ready. i left myself no choice but to wing it and try to deal with the changes as they come. Having said that, I am glad I took this step towards a whole new me. It may not be easy or fun at first but it gets better and I'm looking forward to seeing where the scale will eventually land.

    Clothes for hospital and after

Yoga pants are good just be sure they are plenty loose. Elastic in the waist bothered me a lot until the swelling went down. Be comfortable:)

    A helpful tip

Odd that you posted this today because I've been thinking about this subject since yesterday. I'm over the shock of the new stomach size, am dealing with the emotional issues that follow surgery, and getting used to what and how much I can eat. The thing is that when I eat it is extremely hard to change from cramming it down like I always did and switching over to taking very small bites and chewing it slowly. One would think this is one of the easiest things to do but it isn't. You eat a certain way your entire life and then have to change. It's HARD. I suppose if I had been able to eat small portions, chew slowly, and make nutrition my main goal in eating then I wouldn't have needed surgery in the first place?? So now here I am with 15% of my stomach remaining and I WILL be learning to do these things or I'll feel bad. Isn't that some sh*t?
  14. I called and after giving them the info they wanted ( the next day ) I scheduled surgery for 3 weeks later. I could have scheduled it in less than 2 weeks but had to wait to coordinate with work. It was quick and easy.

    Pickles

I ate a pickle at nearly 3 weeks. No problem.

    hot yoga

Haha! I'm a little slow to catch on. I was thinking that hot yoga must be some sort of erotic twist on regular yoga. i was gonna try it out. But now I see that it's yoga done in a hot room. Forget that! I'm in TX. Pretty soon it will be 120 standing in my driveway. I'm a dork
  21. That's great! Best of luck to you and let us know your progress.
  22. It will get much better. It seems that hunger soon after surgery is a common issue. I was hungry too. A few more weeks post op and I'm never hungry. During the first couple of weeks I really thought I would starve or pass out from hunger. Now I eat because I'm supposed to. The only real want of food is in my mind. I wonder if that ever goes away? I can't eat much at all before I'm full.

    My dr better say yes

Lol missy. Don't run from the OR. You are gonna be just fine. You got this!
  24. It's a true statement that the sleeve takes effort to get used to and that it can be temperamental. I learned these things real quick. Sometimes I get annoyed with it because I want to eat something but I know I'll be eating just a few bites and be full. This feeling comes along when I'm making dinner for the 4 guys in my house. But I got the sleeve for this reason so I deal with it and try not to be a big baby. I don't regret it for one minute though and I know the weight will continue to fall off. It was a good decision.

    Hater?

Yeah - more sensitivity would have been nice. She probably didn't mean anything by it. If she had the bypass and is having success she will surely think that's the best option for everyone. I'm no professional for sure, but I think it's a lot easier to regain weight with the bypass than with the sleeve. Everyone can gain back tho if they don't behave themselves. Your friend may have forgotten how she felt at first since she is so far along. Or maybe she is just an insensitive ninny Either way, don't let it bother you! We'll be your support system right here:)
