  1. I can completely relate! The liquid diet is the worst. If I never see a protein shake again it would be too soon. I never want any broth again either. Hang in there! Pretty soon it will be a distant memory and you'll be eating some regular food. Having some coffee helped me too. Maybe you can get lucky and your Dr will let you have some real soup or other additional foods just to make you feel better about this thing?
  2. That is definitely an awesome accomplishment!
  3. No worries Mswanda! You have come a long way already just getting ready to have surgery. Don't let the nerves get to you too much. You will make it through surgery and recovery just fine and in 6 weeks you will be a whole new person. You got this girl!
  4. Awwwww... I'm so sorry. Your poor mom! My mom didn't care for it either. That's why I didn't tell her until it was done. She would have been worried too. Just hang in there and have faith. Your mom will be 100% better once you wake up from surgery and give her a pretty smile:) That's just what moms do. But my heart goes out to both of you and good luck tomorrow!

    Hunger

I am 7 weeks out and have lost 23 lbs. It's kind of slow but thats ok. I have to say that I eat quite a few things that I shouldn't. I eat whatever the family is eating, I eat too many sweets, and I don't chew slow enough. All the suggested eating plans are not without merit! I would probably lose a little faster if I cut out the sweets and carbs. But I don't wanna. There is no way I am eating over my calorie limit in a day. I'm a slow loser anyway. I'm not complaining though. I have the rest of my life to lose what I want to lose and I'll take it as it comes. I figure all of us sleeve people should just try to live life, eat pretty well and not be gluttons, and be happy that the weight will come off in good time. Like in the song - Don't worry be happy:)

    antiacid question -

Sometimes i take a Tums if i get an "extra" reflux attack, but for the most part a Zantac in the morning and one at night does the job just fine. This heartburn thing is a new one to me. I never had it before. Darn sleeve! But the Zantac works just fine.

    No pain?

Oh yes. Other than some itchy and slow healing incisions, I never felt pain at all. I felt tired, grouchy, hungry, and miserable but no pain. Not even immediately after surgery. And yep - I figured surely I was going to be the one that this wouldn't work on. Even now I think I should lose faster. But i have all the time in the world to lose weight and I know it will come off in good time. Enjoy your pain free state. It sure beats the alternative. And it's gonna work for you just fine:) Be patient and just try to learn how to live your life in the post op world. It's a big adjustment. There will come a day when you look back and smile at how you worried. It's all good:)

    Hunger

Yes it will work, never fear:) When the veterans on this forum tell you it's head hunger and nothing more, you aren't going to believe them. You are about a week out. You are going to really think you are hungry. A lot of people feel the very same as you. I did! And I would insist that it was hunger. I thought I would surely starve to death before I could have any food. I was already sick of shakes, jello, popsicles, and even soup. It wasn't satisfying and I genuinely felt that I was hungry. I know you do too. Here's the thing - it is indeed head hunger. It is almost impossible to tell the difference. As the weeks go by and you add some real food to your diet you will become less and less hungry. At some point you will know that what you feel today was head hunger. I know it's hard to believe and even harder to accept - but it's true. Ask your Dr if you can add some more substantial things to your diet at this point. Some will allow it and some won't. me? I never listened to any of it and added food as I pleased. I had no problems at all and am doing just fine. You may not react the same so it's better to check with a professional. But I promise you aren't really hungry. I know I sound ridiculous to you. But its all true. Hang in there! It will get so much better soon:)

    Need a buddy

Yep. Lots of people here! I understand about your husband eating everything and bringing it home. I hate it! I have a husband, 3 boys, and a grandson that eat like there is no tomorrow. And I have to cook for them too. Its ridiculous. But I'll make it and so will you:) We'll just have to stay the course and try to (at minimum) limit the bad stuff we consume. Harder than it should be considering all the eaters that surround you, but the strong will prevail. Hang in there and I'll hang in with you.

    Failing

I went to Mexico for the sleeve. The Dr told us that he removes 85%. I'm almost 2 mos out and I definitely feel it. Sometimes I thin he took more than 85%. The restriction seems to increase as time goes by. The binge eating is an awful thing to overcome. Don't beat yourself up over it. Just get back on track and keep on going. For me, feeling bad about myself only makes the eating worse.

    Hello its me jen.

    Welcome Jen and congratulations!
  15. Don't you just hate it when people act that way?? I do. It takes all the self control I have to not rip them a new one right then and there. You just keep on with your plans and try real hard not to let her affect you. Easier said than done, yes, but just like with the rock in the backpack - you won't ever change anyone by trying to explain to them how inconsiderate they are and how bad they make you feel. It's definitely her problem and not yours. Oh and about you having the final revenge - well - if that's the only satisfaction you can get out of this thing then by all means enjoy it:)

6 weeks post-op ... what did YOU eat?

I can eat most anything I want. Oranges cause no problems. The only things that cause problems are really rich sweets and if a food is really heavy - a lot of restaurant food falls into this category. I still have a hard time eating slowly and taking small bites ( a lifetime of bad habits are hard to break) but in general I can eat what I choose.

    Sleeve vs bypass?

You are and your dr's office will tell you the same. The sleeve is just so much simpler. It isn't near as easy to re-gain weight with the sleeve and despite what you may hear, it is not likely that a sleeve will stretch very much. Eating your way around a bypass is a whole lot easier than eating around a sleeve. You are making a great choice and I'm pretty sure the professionals will agree. Good luck!

    Feeling down

You look beautiful! Its just not fair that we can't see ourselves as others see us.
  19. You look just lovely! Thanks for the pics and giving us hope:)
  20. I'm losing slowly too. At 7 weeks out I figured I would have lost about 40 pounds but I've lost 23 instead. Had a major stall that lasted 3 weeks. It was very discouraging! Giggles said it right - slow and steady wins the race. Its so hard to not sit around and watch the scale move or not move. It feels like you have this surgery and then all your day consists of is waiting for pounds to drop off! I've decided to just try to live my life again and have faith that the weight will come off when it gets good and ready. How can it not come off being as one can only eat a small amount of food in one day - well - except for those chocolate peanuts I bought yesterday. They went down real easy. I'll have to stop with the candy. Hang in there - you will lose at your own pace and you have already done a great job!

    Questions, Questions?!

At 7 weeks I am never really hungry. I eat when it's meal time and some days (like today) I am a grazer. I try to fight off the grazing urge. Its a mental thing and hard to get rid of. But as far as actual hunger - no way.

    Before and after! pics

Sweet!! You look amazing! Good job:)
  23. Hang in there. I hit a stall at 3 weeks and it lasted 2 1/2 weeks. It was just ridiculous! The scales will move again. Keep up the great work.

    Boy am I cranky!

It happened to me too. Nothing pleased me and everyone seemed to be quite annoying. It still happens now when I get tired. It got better after 5-6 weeks. At this point I still tire easily and get kind of grumpy. It will get better though - hang in there.
  25. Yes me too. It seems that the more time that passes I can eat less and less. The same with liquids. I can swallow less now than the very first week. Then I hit a stall that lasts what seems like forever and I can't imagine why what with the food decrease and all. Even foods that go down easy ( like sweets etc ) have become difficult. Very strange.
