How does it feel to be full?

I think it feels different than before this surgery too. It feels like the last bite I just took may squeeze itself back up. Not a throwing up kind of sensation but more of a feeling of knowing exactly where the food is resting and the one more bite is going to make it overflow. Sometimes I have what I think is the last bite I'm going to take and have to spit it out because it becomes repulsive mid-chew. I guess its different for everyone but you will definitely know when you've had enough. Oddly, I am not able to eat more food the further out I get. The restriction seems to increase all the time. I'm still a slow loser but it is certainly not because I eat a lot. I'm just slow. It's all good though.

body changes This is not me

So the other day I went into my favorite clothing store. I didn't even bother to look at pants. I have a big butt. I bought 2 shirts, both smaller than I usually wear, and they are both too big. I do not see the changes in myself either. It's messed up. I may need counseling too. Yippie.

    STOP CALLING IT A TOOL!

Aussie lady you are one of the people that make reading comments here worthwhile.

    Wow are we adults?

Haha...I've been thinking the same. It's very difficult to post a reply or an opinion on this forum without a select few wanting to rip you apart for it. It's also hard to just let it slide when they decide to target you for a post you made. This forum was very helpful to me in the beginning but since I have made it through the 1st couple of months post op I am finding that its mostly just the same old thing. If you dare to disagree or post an unpopular response - well you better watch out because you are gonna get it. My son is a freshman in HS. He doesn't have as much ridiculous BS in school as we do here on this site. That's sad.
  5. Actually, about 80 % of the emotions and changes that happen after the sleeve are common among most. Read up. You can do it right here on this forum. Thanks so much for letting us all know your opinion and good job in diagnosing what is or isn't my bag. I'll be able to rest peacefully tonight now that I know just what my problems are:)
  6. Yep. I have had the sleeve already. I understand the mental and emotional changes that take place. And I stand by what I said. The question was smoking. I answered it as I saw fit. Big deal. And I also stand by what I said about the psychological implications of weight loss surgery. If you are not able to recognize and deal with the changes and feelings that will take place - then hold off on surgery until you are able. It's a big step and if one is prone to depression or self destructive behavior then one would need to get this under control before making this decision. It's not worth suicidal thoughts or deep depression. If ya can't handle it then don't have it until you can.

    What will I look like?!

That's a pretty cool site even if I didn't enjoy the pics I got when I put my stats in there.
  8. sharonintx

    My why...

I understand completely. I don't have pics either. I avoid cameras like the plague. Feeling ashamed of yourself is about the worst feeling in the world. You are considering the sleeve or have made your decision or what? Only fat people know what its like to be fat and embarrassed. It's horrible. I hope you find peace in whatever decisions you make and that you are able to become the person you want to be.
  9. Oh preach on. If someone isn't able to adjust to the psychological changes that will be required after this surgery then they shouldn't make the choice to have it. While I am not insensitive to the dramatic feelings that take place post op, the suicide and major depression statistics after surgery was not the question asked. Everyone should be aware of their mental status prior to making this choice and if they aren't - well then make yourself aware before having most of your stomach removed. So again - if a smoker chooses to have the sleeve and still smokes, well so what? The question was asked and I answered it.

    very irritable

Oh yes! Most of us went through the very same thing shortly after surgery. My kids asked me if I realized I was being unreasonably grouchy:) Don't worry it will pass. Just hang in there and try not to inflict your misery on loved ones like I did

    When can we drink soda

Yes I've had soda. It didn't cause any problems but it did make me feel very full for hours. It was like the bubbles just sat in there the rest of the day. Some people tolerate it very well though. My suggestion would be to just have a couple sips here and there, for no other reason than to avoid the full feeling that may keep you from eating real food. Oh - and good for you having the very nerve to ask a question that our die-hard forum members will consider a "rule breaking" behavior:) Get ready for all the preaching that will most likely follow your question. Just go ahead and read it all while having a taste of your favorite carbonated beverage.

    Giving Up

I lose slow too. Initially the weight loss was fast but has now slowed to a snails pace. I'm not going to be writing down every bite I take either. I'm not going to concern myself with how many carbs, how much sugar etc. I eat pretty well and sure as heck am not eating too much. I just lose slower than I'd like. I'm not complaining - just stating the fact. Hang in there Suzanne. I think that both you and I will lose eventually (how could we not??) and turn into the goddesses we really were meant to be.

    Traveling alone?

I went alone. I was perfectly safe the whole time. Don't worry too much.
  14. Thats just not true. I've done great with the sleeve so far and see no reason why it won't continue. Obviously smoking isn't good for you. Neither is being fat. I certainly do not promote smoking, but I never quit. I suffered no bad consequences from it. I had no nicotine test before surgery. Some Drs do a test but not all. The sleeve is for anyone that can meet the criteria for insurance and your doctor's conditions, or for whoever wants to go to Mexico and pay cash. Lets not be so rigid and judgmental.

    Head Hunger

I had dreams about food too. They go away once you are eating a regular diet. I found that the stuff i wanted so badly, (KFC etc) wasn't worth the effort. The greasy, unhealthy stuff is even more filling than other foods. After 3 bites of some KFC I am stuffed. this annoys me to no end so I just make a better choice and can have 4-5 bites instead. Its a trade off.

    Eating

yeah - the full burger is going to be an issue. I'm 2 mos. out and can eat the BBQ, burger, or whatever but after a few bites I'm full. That's why I had this surgery. Its the ultimate in portion control. It will still be a while post op before you want any of these things. And when you are able to digest them, a lot of times its just not worth the trouble. You learn quickly which foods are easier to eat than others.

    Eating

After 4-5 weeks I was able to eat steak. Hot dogs, BBQ, and cheeseburgers were pretty easy after 4 weeks. Like most of us I'm only able to eat a few bites and I can tell you that if a hot dog is what I want, my 3-4 bites for that meal will certainly be the hot dog.

    Need a drink!

For me the issue is this - if I drink something while I'm eating it only seems to take up room in my stomach that's supposed to be for food. Before surgery I could drink like everyone else but now there just isn't enough space to fit in both food and liquid at the same time. I've heard people say that if you drink while eating the liquid will make the food slide through your stomach easier and you will end up eating too much. This just isn't true for me. There's only so much room in there and both food and liquids just cannot fit at the same time.

    Surgery Questions

I had a drain for 1 day. I woke up from surgery with it. It was inconvenient but not painful. It came out the afternoon following surgery. It didn't hurt coming out. It felt a bit peculiar on the way out but it wasn't pain. It only lasted 3 seconds and it was out. Don't worry too much about it. It was fine.

    Bring on the girly!

    Sweet! You look lovely:)

    No weight loss! :(

Basically the same happened to me. It won't make you feel much better just now - but hang tough. You will lose more just as soon as your body will let you. Its so hard to be patient, especially after you go so far as to have an operation to lose weight and then your body has the nerve to give you slow weight loss. No worries. just enjoy what you lost already and know that more will come:)

    Post op march sleevers

Oh - I failed to mention that I had less than 80 lbs to lose before surgery. Big deal. I'll choose whatever means I darn well please to lose weight and (hopefully:) keep it off. I suppose if you have an opinion about my choice or anyone else's - so what?? When I went into surgery I can honestly say that your opinion wasn't a factor at all and I don't give a rip what you think. F off.

    Post op march sleevers

Sleeved on 3-8 -13 as well. I lost 20 lbs right off the bat, then had a horrible stall that lasted nearly 3 weeks. The scales finally moved again and as of today am down 26 pounds. I wanted more but I'll take it anyway. Hang in there ladies - the scales will move again!
  24. sharonintx

    Fustrated!

Me too. It was a horrible stall that lasted more than 2 weeks. Just ridiculous! But the scale finally moved. Yours will too!
  25. During my recent stall from hell I was amazed when my clothes kept getting bigger. I've only lost a couple more pounds since the stall has been over but now all my shirts are too big. Go figure. I bet you are shrinking too:)
