It's funny how different doctors vary in their post op instructions. Some say you can never have coffee and others let you have it in the hospital shortly after surgery. I had some coffee on my 2nd day post op and drink it every morning. No problems at all.

More restriction? I'm so confused
sharonintx replied to BlessedBeyondMeasure2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel more restriction as time goes by. I don't really understand why but that's what is happening. Not that I'm complaining, but if there is much more restriction I won't be able to eat at all:) Drinking anything at all makes me even fuller. Today I ate most of a half sandwich, 3/4 of a boiled egg, and 8 fritos. I won't be hungry the rest of the day. I have dinner cooking in the oven and I'm sure I'll have some of it later, but only because it's there and time to eat. Not because I'm hungry. I asked for restriction and I really got it. It gets worse all the time. -
concert 8 days post op
sharonintx replied to ********'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You'll be fine! Yes - unable to eat the nachos or drink some adult beverages but have fun anyway. I went to a concert pretty early too. It felt so good just to get out and do something that made me feel normal. -

sharonintx replied to Kristen125's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Congratulations Kristen! I hope you have a great experience. Be sure and go shopping if you feel like it. I got some awesome leather sandals from one of the stores on the main tourist street. Cheap too:) -
Help...I'm being deprived!
sharonintx replied to ReginaRings's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know the feeling! I have a husband, 3 sons, and a grandson. They eat a lot. Here's a sample normal day: Mom whats for Breakfast? Me: I dunno. There's stuff in the kitchen. Go find it. I can't find anything Mom. We don't have anything good. Me: Just get out of there and I'll fix you something since you are evidently blind and helpless. Thanks Mom Mom! I'm starving! The school lunch sucked Me: I bought Snacks and stuff. Go find it. I don't see any of them! Mom I'm really hungry! Me: Just get out of the kitchen and I'll bring you something. You rule Mom - thanks! Mom whats for dinner??? Me: I'm making something. It will be ready in a bit. ( Start cooking something they will all enjoy - taking a bite here and there because it looks pretty good) Me: It's ready come get it. Thanks Mom this looks good. Are you going to eat too? Me: Nope. I'm full from the bites I took while cooking. So we can eat all this ourselves? Me: thinking to myself - what a bunch of pigs they are. I reply "yes have at it" In between all this is the following - Grandma! I want some chocolate milk. Grandma will you make some brownies? Grandma I want McDonanlds! Its crazy trying to feed everyone else while you are not supposed to have very much of what you are cooking. Be patient. After a while you adjust and it gets a lot easier. It sure does suck initially though:) Hang in there. You got this. -
I like the bad foods most of all! Honestly, I eat a lot of bad stuff. I'm losing at a reasonable pace so I'm not that worried about it but I do recognize that the sweets etc are taking up space that should be used for food that has some nutritional value. Its kinda like the further down this road I go the available space in my stomach gets smaller and if I eat too much junk I have no room for healthy foods. While I don't enjoy it, it is forcing me to really think before I eat the candy or brownies. Don't be too hard on yourself for veering of the track. Just remind yourself to really watch the bad stuff and make sure you eat enough good things. You are doing just fine:)

feeling like poop in the evening?
sharonintx replied to devonmae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep. It took me a couple months to recover as well. At this point I am not taking 2 naps per day like I did in the beginning but by 9-10 pm I'm pretty tired and ready to go to bed. I get a little grouchy when tired:) Hang in there and know that you will bounce back slowly, but you will bounce back. -
I'm really doing this
sharonintx replied to msslechix's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Congratulations! I hope your trip to Mexico is great and you have an uneventful surgery. Stick around and let us know your progress:) -
I wonder if any of us are really normal with self control. If we really had self control we wouldn't need surgery and we would have come a lot closer to being a normal weight. However, I wish I could chug some juice are even better I wish I could finish a frozen margarita. Your feelings a month out are pretty common around here. I experienced the same as did many others. Just roll with the punches! Your emotions will level out in a short while and hopefully your relationships will get back to normal. As far as not being able to eat or drink much - yeah it does suck sometimes. Its an awfully hard adjustment. But never fear. You will adjust in good time and start to feel a little better each week:)

Veteran sleevers who were slow losers in the beginning
sharonintx replied to CoreyCan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It will just start to happen. You are doing a great job so far! With the major decrease in calories and the exercise your body probably thinks it is starving and refusing to let go. Soon enough it will have no choice. Hang in there and keep up the good work. Its still early in the game. In a short time you will begin to drop pounds at a faster rate:) -

What do you do at the movies?
sharonintx replied to devonmae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually went this weekend. I got a small popcorn and it took over an hour to eat half of it. I didn't want more after that. It sure was good though:) -

Has anyone lost and then regained ALL of their weight?
sharonintx replied to AussieLady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like this reply Aussie lady - pay no attention to the insensitivity and thoughtless comments. You have better things to do with your time than worry about it. Keep your chin up and know that you aren't alone. -
The Fiber One brownies are really good.

The body's adjustment time and post-op weight loss..
sharonintx replied to gmanbat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Amen to that. Wouldn't it be great if we were in total control of how our bodies respond on a given day?? I have one of the most stubborn bodies of all. I hate that! But I guess the weight will drop off when it gets good and ready so I may as well be happy about it and not sweat the timetable. That was a great post - thanks. -
The Zantac is very helpful. I take one twice a day. If I forget I am reminded very quickly by the burning sensation that follows. Hang in there!
-
Noooooo....don't let this get to you! The couple pounds you gained are ok! They'll go away along with many more. The crying and feelings you are having is a normal part of this whole ordeal. Trust me on this. It may take a little time but these feelings will end. Recognize them for what they are and just keep plugging along. I know exactly how you feel. You just feel hopeless and don't know why. You will make it! If you wanna cry then just cry. I'm so sorry you are going through this. It has happened to the most of us. Don't be surprised if down the line you become angry instead of wanting to cry. Ride this rollercoaster as long as it lasts and know that when the ride is over you will be strong, happy, and weigh a lot less.

Has anyone lost and then regained ALL of their weight?
sharonintx replied to AussieLady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't give up Aussie lady. You are a beautiful, intelligent woman and you can make it through this. I know there are a lot of people here that are big mouths, know it alls, holier than thou, and hatefully judgmental. Pay them no mind! I'm here for you and there are several others that are human just like you and me. To be honest, I have never been a big drinker but most days I wish I were so I could just down a few and escape from the frustrations that go along with having a sleeve. What have I done instead you ask? I smoke some weed. I wish I could indulge more often but don't have the time or opportunity to do so. There you have it judgmental people - go ahead and blast me all you want. I'll just hang over here with Aussie lady where we can support each other without all the crap you dish out. Aussie lady we don't have to care what they think or how they feel. You and I ( and several other reasonable people ) can give and receive support here and say to hell with the rest of them. You can do this girl! Don't give in and don't give up. -
How does it feel to be full?
sharonintx replied to gibson_girl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agree - the one bite too many is a big mistake. It's not like before surgery when you ate too much and were simply too full. Now, the one bite too many means complete misery for hours. It's a hard adjustment to make but once you have been completely miserable for hours a couple of times you learn to stop putting more in your mouth. I went with the whole family yesterday to see Ironman 3. I bought my grandson a Slurpee and took the small drink that came with his KidsPack. I got a small popcorn. I ate half the popcorn in about an hour and took a few sips from the drink. I was stuffed. I wanted more popcorn ( . ) but knew if I ate another bite I would be miserable. Its quite a learning experience -
