What do you think? Do you consider me a slow loser?
sharonintx replied to SerendipityHappens's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm only losing about 1.5 pounds every ten days. -
Oh yes. All my shoes are too loose. My sandals slip around on my feet and the converse etc will go flying off if I kick my foot.

How fast should I be able to drink?
sharonintx replied to momo23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It takes me nearly all day to drink a 32 oz tea from Sonic. I can eat much easier than I can drink. It was my understanding that drinking while eating was out because the liquid would flush the food right out and you would take in more calories because of it. Not happening that way for me. For me all the drinking seems to do is take up space that the food is supposed to occupy. It really is true that everyone reacts very differently to being sleeved. I learn more each day. -
help, tell me this indigestion will go away
sharonintx replied to awalsh45's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never has acid problems before surgery but have been taking Zantac ever since surgery. It has gotten a little better 4 mos out but I still take the Zantac most days. Hoping it eventually goes away. -
omg how I would love to eat that cheeseburger. I don't even care about the diet coke. Too bad I'd only be able to take 3 bites. I've come to the realization that it isn't worth my money to order food in a restaurant. I have tried and tried but simply cannot eat even half of whats on my plate.

Anyone just eat regular food and still lose weight?
sharonintx replied to Olivia23's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've been eating regular food since the minute I could manage to get it down. I didn't do this to count calories, grams, or anything else. I am sure I lose more slowly than others but that's ok. Some days I do give protein some thought and try to eat it before I eat anything else. It fills me up very quickly and I don't have room for anything else. Most of the time I just eat whatever and am still full after a few bites. Still losing and not complaining about the pace of the weight loss. -
Consequences of no protein
sharonintx replied to laughingheels's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try the biotin. I'm not sure how much hair loss it will prevent but it won't hurt. I've been taking it, sublingual b complex, iron, and multi vitamin every day for 3 months. No hair loss at all. -
Anyone else hate the protein shakes?
sharonintx replied to reenalee's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I do! I despise the protein shakes. In fact, after trying to drink them w/o gagging for about a week I just quit drinking them. Same thing with the protein bars. Yuck! I found some protein shots in the grocery store. Yes they are disgusting too, but if you down it real quick and can keep from barfing - they work pretty good. -
I never quit. I've already been scolded here a lot so I'm quite aware of popular opinion. Thus far I've had no bad consequences. I'll also smoke some weed if I want. No problems.

Consequences of no protein
sharonintx replied to laughingheels's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No advice but I can tell you my personal experience. There hasn't been one single day since surgery nearly 5 months ago that I have gotten the recommended protein or water. I do lose slowly but I'm happy with it. It's slow and fairly steady. I was very tired initially but feel great now. I don't count grams or calories and will admit that some days I do not eat the good things that I should. The good news is that other than losing slowly, I have no consequences. I am healthy, happy, and have not lost one strand of hair. I don't know why but I'm not complaining. -
What makes you smile?
sharonintx replied to IndLawPub's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Still putting way too much on my plate ( like I always did) and having to quit eating after 2 minutes. Plate still mostly ful. Not trying things on in the store and getting home to find I've bought clothes that are too big - Again. When my 15 yr old son walks up and says "Mom you are quite a bit smaller" Sitting in my favorite chair at night and noticing that my legs look like they must belong to someone else. Those thinner legs can't possibly be mine. Noticing that the people who looked at me strangely when I told them I was running off to Mexico to have most of my stomach removed are now looking at me like they wish losing weight was as easy for them. Haha! I don't bother to tell them that this hasn't exactly been then easiest thing I've ever done. After 3 months of feeling bad and just not myself after surgery, now I'm feeling real good and I am thankful for it. -
I was cold for 3 months post op. It's not a problem now at nearly 5 months but at first I was cold all the time.

When u eat food on the puréed stage does it hurt?
sharonintx commented on Tiffany0818's blog entry in Tiffany0818's Blog
I never even did purees. It sounded disgusting to me. I ate soft food and took really small bites. It didn't hurt. -
Of course I have! Deviled eggs are a requirement where I come from:) I made them just the same and they were delicious. Only problem was I was able to eat just one and was stuffed. I really wanted about 4 of them.

Since you asked, I'm 4 mos out and am having half a glass of Pepsi right this minute. I do understand that sleeve people aren't supposed to have it. I've had carbonated beverages 4-5 times since about 3 weeks post op. I can't drink more than 5-6 sips before I start getting full. It takes a long time to drink half a glass. I will say that there have been no consequences from it. I still lose weight, i do not stretch my sleeve, and it does not make me crave even more bad things. Some will disagree, but I didn't get this sleeve to be on a strict diet or refuse myself the things I want. Moderation is the key and quite frankly, who can really drink or eat much at all (good or bad) with 15% of your stomach left? Not me that's for sure. I don't deny myself anything at all. My behavior has not triggered: binge eating, holes or leaks in my sleeve, stretching of my sleeve, complete loss of control in making good and healthy decisions. If ya want a little Coke then have it. Be warned that it will make you full very quickly and you may burp the rest of the day.

I wish I hadn't seen this forum....
sharonintx replied to AmyInOrlando's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Here's the deal....complications are quite rare and most everyone will do great. The 1st few weeks after surgery can be a real drag but it gets easier and better with each passing week. I would certainly not recommend anyone disregarding their doctor's orders as far as recovery guidelines, but having made that disclaimer - I made my own choices as far as diet, when I would advance to solid foods etc. Some of those posting replies on this thread warned me that I would get a leak, I would fail at losing weight, and that I'd always be hungry. Here we are 4 mos. later and I find that my weight loss is inline with others at the same point post op, I never got a leak, I have never thrown up - not once, and I'm never hungry. All of my "leak causing" behaviors never caused me one minute of problems. I'm not losing hair either:) Don't worry about possible complications. It's not worth doubting what this surgery can do for you. While it can be frustrating at times, it works and in a few months you have better than a 90 percent chance of being complication free and feeling great. -
curious where other ppl are at around 3.5 mths out
sharonintx replied to NicoleLpn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery just short of 4 months ago. Have lost 32 pounds. I seem to be losing about a pound a week although some weeks it nothing and some weeks a pound and a half. -
Be honest - does anyone regret the surgery?
sharonintx replied to TvlGrl712's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If we are being honest - then yes. Sometimes I do. When I want to drink some frozen adult beverages but cannot due to my drastically smaller stomach. When I haven't eaten all day, I cook some good stuff or go to my favorite restaurant and I can only eat a few bites when I really want about 8 bites. When i want to gulp down some iced tea because I'm very thirsty and I have to take slow small sips because I can't hold it all at once. When I want some delicious stuffed jalapeno peppers and tequila based drinks and I can eat ONE pepper and drink a third of my drink. When do I not regret it? When I get on the scale, when I notice how good I feel most of the time, and when I notice that people don't comment on my weight loss but I see them looking at me with a hint of jealousy on their face. Booyah. -
OMG I log in here after a month and this sh*t is what I read? What's really bullsh*t is the sheer number of idiotic posts, ridiculous feuding, smsrt-ass comments, and sh*t for brains know-it-alls who continually lurk around this place. How about you either log in here to be helpful or genuinely wanting support from people in the same situation as you - OR - just shut up. Does anyone really care about stupid games, people with more than one log in name, or the jacked up 'opinions' of fu*ktards????????? I do not. I don't even care if the fu*ktards like me or not. It sure would be nice to log in this site and find that all morons have left the building, leaving only the half way sane, grown ups to continue whatever discussions we may be having. The population in here would drop by 80%. Oh - and use your real name. We are not here for your stupid commentary left by an alternate user name you have created due to your lack of intelligence and apparent extreme boredom.

Beware! woman traveling to TJ
sharonintx replied to blindsided's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Really???? i had Almanza and he is a fine looking specimen. He never came to my room! I wouldn't have minded at all. -
Has anyone had the sleeve done with Dr. Mario Almanza in TJ MX?
sharonintx replied to liz89's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I had Almanza. 4 months ago. He was great, I felt safe the whole time, the staff was excellent, and I was never afraid of the surgical center vs. the hospital. Everything went very smoothly and I would not hesitate to recommend him. I had no issues at all after surgery and I think he did a great job. I have a sleeve that will tolerate anything I put in it and he must have stapled/sewn me up real good on the inside because this thing does not stretch and it does not hold much at all. A lot of people seem to have doubts or reservations about Almanza, but from my perspective they are unfounded. You will most likely get some links to horror stories or someone will tell you that he is a 'dangerous man'. Not true and if you poke around enough you will find unpleasant stories about most any doctor - foreign or domestic. It was fine and he will give you exactly what you ask for. -
Haha! What a great question. Since the sleeve, I'd rather have the egg too. But in response to the question, I think its probably the temperature and the texture of what you are swallowing that is the problem. I've been reading the replies and just thinking about the feel of it in your mouth - yuck! Be patient and keep trying. If you enjoyed it before you probably will again at some point. In the meantime just be a spitter.

Im actually afraid to answer a question in here becauae people dont want to hear the truth
sharonintx replied to Sweetcarol238's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Well - not that anyone gives a rip, but I have avoided this place for a few weeks now due to the never ending ridiculousness and adolescent bickering. Now this does not apply to everyone. There are people here that are somewhat rational and realize this is an online community and really it doesn't matter what opinions are shared - you know who you are if you fit into this category. Other than this small percentage of rational people we have this: Group A - Those who are the self appointed sleeve police who just wait for their chance to scold, humiliate, or otherwise ramble on endlessly in their usual holier-than-thou, know it all fashion, and: Group B -Those who ask about Dominoes at 24 hours post op and whatever else they can possibly think of, most likely just to rouse the reactions of Group A. Myself? I'm in the middle. I haven't been a "play by the rules or else" die-hard nor have I been a "eat with reckless abandon" idiot. I chose what I wanted and didn't really care what anyone thought. And guess what? I am losing at a slow rate that I am happy with. It's healthier than fast weight loss, I don't feel deprived, and so far do not have any loose, hanging skin that comes from super fast weight loss. I'm looking pretty good, I feel good, my self confidence is high, and I still don't care what anyone thinks. I am extremely happy not reading the constant bickering and mindless drivel. And like I said - if this doesn't apply to you - you know who you are. If you have any doubts, then YES - I mean you. I may pop in later and i may not. I may go outside and have a look at this very beautiful day and not give a second thought to any of the potential replies I will get to this post. Either way - keep it up sleevers. Bicker, belittle, preach - whatever. Makes no difference in the big scheme of things anyway. -

Will I ever be able to eat my Faves again?
sharonintx commented on adrianewycuff's blog entry in adrianewycuff's Blog
Don't worry you can eat them/ I am a little over 2 mos out and am eating anything I want. and yes - I lose slowly because of it. but that's ok. I'm still losing and happy ( mostly) with what I eat.
