Hello bikini area ports! does anyone know how Doctors/Surgeons attach the port in the bikini area? I guess it can't just float in the tummy, or am I wrong? Thanks in advance for answering, Eileen Irwin

Thanks for all of you who answered!

I told my Doctor [Yau in Toronto] that my port bothers me [right under my underwire bras] and he suggested relocating it in the bikini area. So, that answers all your doubts whether the tube can even reach that area and whether Doctors will do it. I am having it done June 7, next week. It is a relatively new area and there aren't that many people who have it there. One lady told me the reason for that is not that it is not good for the patient, but it is a bit more difficult for the Doctor/Surgeon. The easiest for them is sternum area-where I have it now. As soon as I get home I take off my bras because it bothers me, and it is not a pretty sight [with my clothes on, ofcourse].

I just need some reasurrance from someone who has the port there in terms of feeling confortable.

Grateful, Eileen

:help: anyone who can tell me about having a port in a bikini area. I've had mine on my strernum for3 years now and it has been bodering me ever since. I am thinking of having it relocated to the bikini area. Does anyone have it there, please write about your exoerience. Even though I lost 100 lbs (in 2 years) I still wear "D" underwire bra and it goes right into my port. It is unconfortable and sometimes painful. Is it the same way if it's down there, and what do they attach it to? Eileen

Hi Dena 57, I am Eileen from Toronto. I am so happy I found someone who has a port below the bikini line! I had mine right under my bra and it bothers me a lot. I can't see it but I can certainly feel it whenever I eat and 2 hours after. I am having it replaced below the bikini area but I am a little scared. What if it is just as unconfortable, just in a different way. PLEASE ANSWER with as many details as you can. Do you feel it when you crunch and have tight jeans with a belt? What does the surgeon attach it to? How does it feel when it's tight, when you just had a fil for example. Thanks in advance, EIleeen (banded 2004, lost 95 lbs).

Hi Rybujade, I am so happy for you that you are doing well, but PLEASE tell where was your port before and where it is now, and describe the differences. Rileen Irwin
