Make sure he shares with his trainer about his surgery and calorie restrictions when he starts. I previously did Crossfit and the trainer was soooo great about individualizing everything. (I had to stop due to a foot surgery) I think that's one of the best things about the program. You can go at your own pace and still get a phenomenal workout!

I need to find a swim suit.

I love Boden swimsuits! Not the cheapest, but not the most expensive by far! www.bodenusa.com -
Best Flavor Nectar for Water
nervousnellie replied to girlrfriday's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You mean the Syntrax nectars? If so, there are SOOO many flavors. It is going to be a personal thing. I prefer chocolate truffle and Crystal Sky. I have heard lots of good things about fuzzy navel. The strawberry kiwi was good to me, but really sweet. The only one I really didn't like was orange cream--it was just strange. BJ's bariatrics sells sample packs in quantity of 11 and you can choose which ones you want to try. They come quickly too. -
Happy birthday to me
nervousnellie replied to brandy88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Happy Birthday and congrats on the loss! -
This may be a silly question, but I thought I'd see what you guys think. At one week post op for me, my girlfriends are all going to see The Great Gatsby in 3D. Do you think my stomach will handle it any different post-op? Sorry if that's just silly. I'm not really nauseous but I was somewhat prone to motion sickness before surgery, so I didn't know if it might be any worse afterwards. Or, is it more one's ears that contribute to motion sickness??? I am so not a science minded person! What do you all think?

Post VSG and 3-D movies?
nervousnellie replied to nervousnellie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
HaHa....Fortunately, I am not a popcorn person! It was hard on my stomach before and I don't plan on eating it after! -
Do you take any meds that could be causing this? I know HCTZ makes me itch like crazy. I can't take any of the blood pressure meds that have that in it. Just a thought....

I have been reading a lot about these syrups, however, I don't understand how they are used. Any ides/suggestion would be appreciated ! Thanks!

How many Gas-x strips at once?
nervousnellie posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, I have been using the gas-x strips since getting out of surgery three days ago. I just now read the directions...I'll blame it on the pain meds. It calls for 2-4 at a time. I have only been using one at a time with not so great results. So, I am just curious how many at once you guys feel was helpful. Thanks! -
Have you checked out "The World According to Eggface" blog? She has lots of appetizer and dessert recipes. Her newest one was a chili/tortilla bite that sounds delicious. Also has mini quiches and a lot more. I am a few days post op and I am drooling thinking about all of her wonderful recipes!

No whole pills... chewables only?
nervousnellie replied to Bree's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I swallowed all my pills the evening after my surgery. The doctor said it shouldn't be a problem. I'm only 3 days out and I take about 5 pills every night. None of them are huge and I swallow each one individually. I haven't had a problem. It's so strange how doctors doing the same procedure can have such different "rules"! -
Protein Powders & Vitamins, OH MY!
nervousnellie replied to Molly3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
And as for vitamins--I ordered the Bariatric Advantage multivitamin in berry flavor. I can hardly chew it. The flavor is just gross to me. Haven't found a new one to take yet.... -
Protein Powders & Vitamins, OH MY!
nervousnellie replied to Molly3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am just a few days post-op and the unjury chicken Soup flavor has been great for me. Since the flavor is savory and not sweet, it feels more like food to me. I also added this to cream of chicken soup on my pre-op diet and it's good. I also love the Syntrax Nectars. chocolate truffle is my favorite so far, but I haven't tried a lot of them yet. -
As for what you should/shouldn't eat before then, your doctor should have given you a diet plan to follow. Many on here (including me) were on a strict all liquid (but high protein) diet for two weeks prior. You really need to find out what your surgeon wants you to do. I had surgery on Wed. and am doing okay. I have some pain, but not too unbearable. I am working on sipping Water and getting some Protein in. Your doctor should also have provided you with a strict diet to follow post-op. Sorry this isn't helpful, but it all depends on the surgeon.

Feeling TOO good after surgery?
nervousnellie replied to mamamareli's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So glad you are feeling so great! Enjoy it -
I would definitely give zumba a shot! I have a very close friend who is an instructor and she has been trying to get me to come for months. I think that once I recuperate some (just had surgery Wed) I will go. I think it's a great workout b/c you can move at your own pace. If you enjoy it--go for it!

Fist let me apologize if this is repetitive. I had my sleeve Wednesday and until last evening and today felt fine. Now, I feel awful. The Belly pain is so bad. I also had a hiatal hernia repaired and maybe this contributes to the pain some...i'm not sure. It hurts really bad to take deep breaths. I do not feel like eating anything, but have been sipping Water nonstop since sugery. I am trying to drink some of the unjury chicken Soup now. My pain med is Lortab and it is not helping the pain really at all. Also-I haven't had shoulder pain from the gas, but both of my traps on either side of my neck are killing me. Could that be from the gas? I guess I'm just wondering is this all normal? I read so much on these boards and thought I was prepared, mentally and physically, however, it has hit me like a ton of bricks. Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks!

How's my may 1st sleevers doing?
nervousnellie replied to kristy26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
kristy26--can I ask how long you take to drink your protein shake and how many ounces you manage? I am one week behind you and just curious. Thanks! -
I just double checked with my hubby who was with me the whole time (he is a physician so he followed closely what was going on with me) and he said I never had one either. I checked with him just in case I forgot!

nervousnellie replied to nervousnellie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Trap is short for trapezius muscle. It's the muscle that runs between the neck and shoulder. Sorry that's not the best answer. Not sure how to describe it. I'm trying to attach a picture but not sure it will work... url -

nervousnellie replied to nervousnellie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone! I am now sure that what I'm feeling is normal. ajeeprider--I am staying on my meds regularly. I truly believe in pain prevention! yaya--the trap thing took me by surprise just because I expected the pain in my shoulders, but not there! Thanks again for all the replies. Hopefully, you guys helping me now will help someone else in the future too -
Help Please
nervousnellie replied to nervousnellie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Certainly didn't forget the major surgery part. Just thought I would feel gradually better after leaving hospital...not worse. This is really the first surgery I have had. I did probably have too high of expectations. I was so focused on having a positive attitude...oh well. Still trying to maintain positivity, just on a lower scale I guess. thanks so much for the replies! It means a lot! FYI--When I said I didn't feel like eating, I did mean that I didn't feel like taking in anything at all (I was cleared for full liquids when I got home--no real clear liquid stage w/ my dr.) I absolutely can't imagine drinking a Protein shake at this point even though it's on my recommended diet for now. I'm sticking with clears til I feel a little better! -

Thanks for normalizing it for me! I have been walking regularly and taking the gas-x strips. I just needed to know that other people felt this way afterwards too!
