  1. Hi all! Still lurking and reading! Hope all is well for all. I'm down 10 lbs! How exciting! I've moved to Pureed-Mushies! I thought I had a bite of heaven today when I had Beans from Taco Bueno with hot sauce! (Don't try Taco Bell.....I took one bite....stirred.....and threw them away! But Taco Buenos are very smooth and very good!

Okay this is pitiful.....I'm excited about refried beans!!!! LOL!

  2. Hi Junies!

I'm 5 days out and feeling better than a few days ago. I still have some gas pains, but it's not too bad. My throat has been KILLING me since the surgery -- the anesthesia tubes must have really irritated me. Around 2pm yesterday I suddenly felt like I could barely swallow or breathe. I called my surgeon and he said that there wasn't anything wrong with the band and that it was irritation from the tubes. He suggested I go to the ER. HELL NO! Unless I'm having a heart attack or there is a bone sticking out of my body, I am not sitting in the ER for 8 hours. I ended up going to my MD's office -- she was awesome (although her staff gave me a hard time for just showing up without an appointment). After taking a chest X-Ray and looking at my throat, she said that my throat was so swollen from irritation that there were blisters in my throat! She gave me an Rx for steroids and I went home. Feeling better today, although not 100%. I'm just glad it wasn't pneumonia or something worse.

I hope everyone here is doing well with their pre-ops and post-ops. I'm finally on to full liquids. Not much more exciting than the Clear Liquids, but at least I'm getting more Protein in.

I have been having the WEIRDEST cravings -- does anyone else feel this way? For example, I have been craving doughnuts and I never eat doughnuts -- I've probably had 10 doughnuts in my entire life. And yesterday, I would have given my left arm for buttered toast. Again, I can't remember the last time I had buttered toast -- when I was 9 years old? Of course, I have also been craving cheese and that is something that I've eaten every single day of my life, so not all the cravings are irrational :)

Lucy.....wow OUCH! Sorry about the throat!!!! Hope you are better! I'm really not craving much.....except maybe just something with texture!!!! Crunchy.....or something!:biggrin1:

  3. Also.....if you're just now getting going on the exercise.....are you building muscle??? Because you can temporarily plateau or gain if you are putting on muscle....yet losing fat. It can help to have someone (like a trainer at a gym) do a fat composite. You could easily be losing fat right now? Maybe?

  4. I just love this forum!!!! But really......what person doesn't go into lapworld without realizing that they will still have to deal with all the "head hunger" issues.....food issues.......emotional issues?!? This is a tool.....Man I hope I don't forget that!......

I'm sure that after saying this........

I'm banned to "Bandster Hell" for longer than most!!!!!!

  5. marlynncreel I got banded the same day you did! I'm definitely feeling "restricted"....I'm sure it has a lot to do with what size of band they put on us in the first place. My doctor didn't put the brand new one on because he said he would "slip" around?! He put the small generation 5 on? I was pretty hazy when I heard all of this so I'll be double-checking my appt next week!

Anyway.....the only way I can describe it is.....too much (literally 1/4 cup or less) seems too heavy on my stomach! Drinking like a fish though!? Let me know how you are doing!

  6. I found this great site this weekend. Not banded yet. A coworker & I have decided to go through this together. We meet w/Dr. Michel Stephan in Mesquite, TX on Weds. (6/13). If you have any exp w/this surgeon, plz respond. Many thanks! :)

    Well....we're both 45.....both from Texas....

I was banded on 6/07 in Hurst!!!!

    Good luck to you!

  7. walk...walk....and walk.....I had to remember this from my days as a nurse when I made others walk after laproscopic surgeries that had gas pains.....you've got to wake up your systems! And unfortunately anesthesia and then of course all the pain medicine we put in our bodies we keep it asleep!

My gas is better on the 5th day....but on the 3rd and 4th days it certainly helped to walk....

    Good luck!

  8. HI All! I'm Back! I don't know about y'all but day 3 seemed to be definitely HUMP day for me! GAS pains horrible! Felt Crappy! But better today!

ToniTeach.....I'll be right behind you on the exercise! I was working out 5Xweek before surgery and I don't want to lose the "want to"! I have always worked out.....I'd be about twice the size I am if I didn't! I think the best advice on working out is just start....keep doing it...and switch it up!!!! Let me know how it is going for you 'cause I want to start back bad.....and I can't yet!

HotToddy! Thanks again for the calendar! So sweet of you!

Snoopy...I am so sorry.....I am praying! Please let me know of any specifics to pray for!

Stefanie...sorry about the gas pains...and the horrible deferred gas pains! And I agree the port site is definitely the most tender and painful; especially if gas is involved! I'm definitely better on the 4th day! I think walking definitely helps! (I am a day ahead of you....I had it from Snow in Hurst!...and today is definitely better!)

Marlynncreel....welcome back from Mexico! Next time it will be from the beach!?! Right!!!!???/

KT....I'll need your "heads up" on the Bandster Hell thing!!!!!

  9. Hi All!!!!

Thanks HotToddy for the calendar! Super cool!

    I got banded yesterday!

QUESTION......when did the dreaded deferred pain-gas pains start?

Because (crossing my fingers) I haven't had any!!!

Love my liquid Lortab! and the ice pack on the port site!

Walked down the street and back last night and this morning!

    Actually slept!

DAKOTA! glad to hear you're doing well! And as a nurse I know walking is the best thing for gas pains! Good luck!

Glad to hear from the rest of the new bandsters and the rest that had it early in June!!!! Thank you for posting and letting me prepare myself!!!

I'll be reading all your posts....anxious to get to know y'all better!

SIMPLYME! Banded 6/07 by Dr. Snow in Hurst, Texas!!!!!

  10. Loving to read about all of you! I'm tomorrow too!!!!! Ready to see what my experience will be like!!!!! Good luck to all of you Marlynncreel, <O:p</O:pJava, and <O:p</O:pDakota'84 (and anyone else I missed!!) I'm at noon tomorrow! I'm anxious to check in tomorrow night and see how it went for the rest of you!

  11. Hi all!!!! I'm being banded June 7th!!!!

Yay! I'm on pre-op diet now but it's not as restrictive as some of you have described.....I get Protein drinks; creamy Soups (if they have no chunks in them) and any other liquids (barring sugar and fat!) Basically thick consistency liquids but eliminating sugar and high fat!

so.....It's going to take a while to read all the posts but I hope to...so I can get on the band wagon as well!!!!

    Anxious to hear from everyone!

  12. Mol.....I think ALL my friends are thin and beautiful....and I also think they're all the most supportive! My family as well! I am so sorry about those that I hear about that get put down and made to feel inferior. I've never felt that. On the pre-op diet.....I have one but I hear it is much shorter than others but then my BMI may be lower.
