Thanks.....I'll keep working.....first fill is Thursday! Hopefully it'll start dropping! And then hopefully I'll be one fill closer to that "sweet spot"!!!!:whoo:
-
You can do it!!!! I can to!!!! We just want the weight off now! We've got to be willing to follow the journey.....what is right for us and our band....and only our individual doctors know what is right for us and when! You can "diet" until this bandster hell is over...and then laugh off your old "food addictions!" Keep me informed!!!!!

Hey all.....question for you lower BMI.....I know I might need to be more patient....BUT.....I guess I've plateaued already!? I have not lost any weight on my third week even though.....and absolutely no lying here.....I've exercised 5 days a week.....I've counted my calories to make sure I'm not getting over 1000 to 1200 max....most times under.......seem to have adequate retriction.....at least with solid foods.....not drinking any caloric drinks.....drinking protein for breakfast....and all the rest! Any suggestions? Any encouragement or similar conditions? I go for my first fill next Thursday! I'm discouraged
-
I showered the first day......being very careful not to let the water directly hit the incisions.......Be sure to ask your doctor though; we all have had different incisions ("glue"; staples; disolvable sutures; etc)

I was a Diet Coke addict!!!! I chose to give it up as my doctor explained that drinking a lot of carbonated drinks (even if the gas didn't bother you) could stretch the pouch! If I'm going to make this work I want to do my part!!!! Since I'm giving up my addictions of too much food and Diet Coker I've heard you replace it with something! ....my husband is hoping its sex!!!! ;*)

Please I need advice, Hubby disapointed me
SimplyMe replied to kimmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm so sorry you were disappointed. That would be awkward...and I understand you feeling betrayed.....but maybe he just doesn't see this surgery like you do. Maybe he's not in the least embarassed that you have had it done and can't understand why you are. I have been totally upfront about mine. If anyone asks I tell. I see it as my middle-life "plastic surgery" of sorts. It is certainly no secret I'm overweight!!!! I'm extremely lucky as my husband, parents, children and friends are all supportive! Communicate to him when its less hurtful exactly how that felt! Again I'm sorry for your pain......but soon you're confidence is going to be soaring as you use your new tool to become healthier, active and self-assured! -
Last Supper Syndrome?
SimplyMe replied to TulipStar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only had a week between my surgery pre-op diet and when I scheduled....(self-pay of course).....but yes I basically ate all I wanted and more....can't say I regret it but boy was I bloated and ready for the liquid diet! Glad I didn't have longer than that! -
Help I need convinced that I should exercise
SimplyMe replied to violeteyes37's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Speaking as a nurse that used to work at a hospital....I believe word of mouth is absolutely the best....especially if its a nurse or doctor that had the procedure done. You'll find anyone say good or bad.....but if you can talk to people that have had it done or work at the hospital where they do it! They generally know the inside scoop! Good luck! -
First soft foods I was allowed I had Mexican food with lots of hot sauce! Didn't bother me!

Help I need convinced that I should exercise
SimplyMe replied to violeteyes37's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Maybe we should start our own group!!!!! .....The Winners *those who exercise too*!!!!:first: I with all you that I did this lapband to be able to put food in its proper perspective and to be active and healthy!!!! NOT.....to "drink" all my life! -
Help I need convinced that I should exercise
SimplyMe replied to violeteyes37's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I was working out prior to surgery 5Xweek.....and a week after surgery I just finished 5Xthis week! I feel better......12 lbs off! Easier to work out with less weight! Burns calories! More muscle burns more calories! What is not good about exercising!?! I don't want to build a lot of muscle.....just firm as I go along! Plus less flabby when I do get down to goal! You'll feel better! Look better! Be healthier!!!! Okay......I'm done! <smile> -
If you have had a band for five years or more...
SimplyMe replied to Qvrfullmidwife's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Amen Cyndi! For us "newbies" I love hearing encouraging words!!!! Thanks Alexandra.....! As for me.....I've loving it so far! I feel for the first time in my life I might actually be able to control this hunger thing....and put food in its proper prospective! -
Musicalmomma...on my first day after mushie stage I had gained 2 lbs.....now that's off and more! Plus I know it will happen again but I will try to be patient!!!!! On the fill....I guess every doctor has his reasons.... But even the Inamed "Lap-Band" "official" booklet says 4-6 weeks for the first fill! But You're doing great without it so far....and then it should be even easier after that!
-
Suzzie!!! yay! I'm excited about my fill date too!!! I figure if I can keep losing til then well its gotta be even better after!!!
-
KT.....I once weighed 256 and got down to a size 4 by extremely hard work! Healthy eating....working out 6 days a week with a trainer!!!! I slowly gained back some of the weight as my children left for college....I was half way between my lowest and my highest when I researched the lapband.....I just wasn't sure I could do it again at 45 without a little help!!!! So I see my lapband as my choice of healthy "plastic surgery" so to speak!
-
musicalmomma...congrats on your weight loss too!!!!!
-
Munchkin....well for my experience I have NEVER vomited!!! YAy! They gave me Phenergan suppositories...just in case! I will admit I have not been as energetic.....but every day is better! I would not describe it as weak....more just needing to slow down for a while. It's been 2 weeks and I've worked out the last 5 days! (cardio and light weights) For the food.....I was grateful for something to MAKE me stop eating....slow down.....and look at what my body needs....NOT my head!?! But I did have a "scared" time before surgery....worried about giving up my addiction!!!!! Yes I get hungry......nothing more than before surgery....I'm told that will get mucho better after my first fill or two.... to find that "sweet spot"! Research the heck out of this...make sure it is for you! And ask any and all questions! I know I have!

kt....he didn't always use the x-ray but he is now in a surgery center when him and other bariatic doctors use the surgery center only for lap-band and adjustments! Also after 1 1/2 hours of recovery I stood there and watched my barium go down to assure there were no problems! He just said they can be more aggressive with the fills when they can actually see how tight it is. Kinda looking forward to getting my first fill! Man....you're weight loss is great!!!!!
-
Something else.....does your doctor do the fills by x-ray....I "hear" they can do them earlier and more aggressively if done by x-ray!?!?
-
I'm having a fill four weeks from surgery....July 5th! Saw my doctor today and he told me to schedule it!!!! I'm excited! Moving faster than I thought!

Post Op - Can you feel the band?
SimplyMe replied to LadyBlue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm about 9 days post op and I would describe it as a "stitch" in my side (actually four stitches....I'm told! LOL!) but anyway yes I can feel it.......I guess I'm very AWARE of it but every day it is less noticeable!!!! YAY! -
hottoddy!!!! Hey! I asked lots of questions about the food intake! They told me they were much more concerned with the texture vs. what you were eating. They said the stomach needed more time to just heal. I am still tender 9 days post op around the port site....that's really the only place I've been tender......but getting better every day! I'm going to try working out Monday! WEdnesday is check up day!
-
I'm thinking......lots of bruising?!? I was given heparin before mine so I bruised around my incisions a little more than usual. I think I would DEFINITELY call and ask your doctor! Did he see all the purple after surgery? Hope it's nothing!!!!! Probably isn't.....but reassurance from the MD is always preferable!
-
xgrl....my BMI was 31.5....but I'm a self-pay! My mid-life "crisis" gift to myself!!!!:clap2:
