Puja,Thanks! I read a lot about nutrition before and after surgery. I am so glad to be on solids! In the liquids and pureed foods phase all i was allowed was daal and rice. I don't like rice. I need some of sort bread(wheat, sorghum roti, phulka) with my meals. So i have a puri sized roti during lunch. My nut says i should avoid gluten but we agreed to one a day. What kind of challenges? Even after 18 months? I was kind of hoping to reach a stage where i forget i have had this surgery and eat normal person portion sizes.

Hey puja! Congrats! I eat all of what you mentioned. I agree they are easy to prepare and digest. I eat fish and chicken as well. All my meals contain some form of protein followed by veggies and then carbs. I eat red meats too but i think I'll stay away from beef and pork for atleast a year. I feel maintenance is more of a challenge than losing. So best of luck to you too! Srushti

..don't get me wrong have been over weight since I was 12 so I've always wanted to be able to wear a bikini and be able to be picked up and held but it never bothered me for more then a few months at a time. I fear of what my adult body will look like skinny I fear I won't like the shape of it ect so I know I am going to struggle with my image but I imagine it will take time to get used to it. Its the exact same way with me. I've been overweight since i was 12 and don't know what my adult body will look like. I had lost about 40pounds a couple of years ago. I thought i would start wearing pretty clothes and be a lot more comfortable with my body. But i ended up wearing the type of clothes i used to wear before the weight loss, only in smaller sizes. I hope this time it is different and get over my body image issues.

Hello everyone! I am from Pune. Got sleeved on 18th last month. I have lost around 12kgs in 4 weeks. Will weigh in tomorrow( will be 5 weeks post-op). I start having solid foods next week. Have been trying to figure out a sensible diet(proteins, carbs and fats in the right proportion) . Any advise on how to go about it? P.S.updates would be great. I know comparing is futile but weight loss stats are very inspiring!

Hey i have PCOS too though the reports say its mild. I have irregular periods too. Before surgery I used take deviry every month without which i cannot get my periods. I decided to stop taking them to see if i get my periods naturally . I had to wait 4 months to finally conclude that i can't menstruate naturally I then went to an OB who prescribed the same pills and referred me to an endocrinologist. He said i will have a very hard time losing this weight( i was on a diet and exercising)and also conceiving; even if i do I'll have a hard time staying pregnant. He is the one who suggested bariatric surgery , said was the only solution to most of my problems. I was sleeved on 18/02/2013 and got periods 2 days after surgery! My doc says it is normal and i should not worry about periods ever! I know the pain (i have flat feet too). My knees, feet and back hurt the most. It is unbearable especially because of the weight. I am an engineering student and am on my toes all the time. All of this affected my school too. I was very depressed and thought i would have to live with this. I am really grateful for this surgery. I have already lost 27 lbs which would take me around 4 months which my usual diet and gym regime! I am really looking forward to getting my life back by becoming healthy and fit Good luck to you too! -
Doctors in India are real vague when it comes to post-op consults. If you had your surgery in India they usually give you the diet for the next two months. I am one month post-op too and eventhough i eat sprouts my doc told me to stay away from raw veggies like carrots. Only mushy veggies. Having said that if it dint hurt you're probably good. But try to stick to the doc's diet. Good luck!

Sleeve holds too much food

It's wierder for me...I am 4weeks post op and still on a soft foods diet. One day I'm full after 2-3 tbsp of food and the next i can easily eat 2 cups of food. In my case i think it's more of emotional eating. Also i don't pay enough attention to the signals to stop when I'm full. Working on eating slowly and attentively. Anyway I think you should talk to your doctor.
