I started out weighing 360 pounds living in Ocala, Florida. I couldn't walk a flight of stairs and it was difficult to walk my dog. After talking to my doctor about gastric by-pass, he convinced me not to do it because every one comes home from the hospital with tubes hanging out of them, some get infections., Two months later I moved back to Maryland and talked to Dr. Barry Greene, my surgeon, about surgery. Now it seems that they have a new surgery out and it appears that this is for me. It's the only one that will allow me to continue taking aspirin after surgery, since I had 5 by-passes done in 2003. This will be the 3rd time that I have come back to see Dr. Greene in 5 years, and now I am committed to having surgery. My weight is right at 330 pounds, 54 inch waist and it is October 2012. Dr. Greene suggested that I lose more weight before surgery. Now the day of surgery I weigh 290 pounds. Two days after surgery I am down to 280 pounds and size 54 inch pants are much to big, am I feeling good already. Ten days after surgery and I have already lost 15 pounds, down to 275 pounds. It is now 16 days after surgery, I now weight 270 pounds and I can wear a size 46 pair of pants and feeling good about it. I have not had to take any pain pills since surgery. The belly shots were the worse pain. I have to stop and think, would I do this again, YES I WOULD, only a lot sooner.

I am 72 years old, a retired professional fire fighter, grandfather to 7 and great grandfather to an 11 year old. To me so far it has been well worth it. I would highly recommend it, and I have, to any one having difficulty losing weight. I have met some wonderful people along the way who have been a tremendous help to me and I plan on trying to help others.
