    June surgery dates

This is for my late june sleevers....those of us that are pushing through that liquid phase this last week.. If your getting sick of sweet protein shakes and popsicles, but can't find an edible broth try the little flavor packets that come in the ramen noodles...their 20cents at Wal-Mart, you can add unflavored protein, and they taste pretty good. Just make sure you drink enough water bc they have a high amount of salt. Good luck!! Ps Congrats to everyone already recovering from surgery!
  3. I'm right there with you...26th right? I don't have an answer for you on the post opp stuff, except to say that I cleaned out my fridge and pantry and only stocked my post op protiens, waters, Soups, sugar free popsicles, Vitamins in preparation so they'll be right there. I also wrote down the phases on my calender so I don't try to get ahead of the recovery schedule..I hope that's helpful.. I wish I had more advice for you, but I think if we take it day by day we'll be ok

    Medic Alert bracelet

Since non bariatric specialists arent familiar with what VSG entails.. in an energency situation what should we put in the bracelet? Maybe: "WLS, Vertical Sleeve: NG TUBE ONLY UNDER XRAY" I plan to ask my surgeon, but any med professionals have better suggestions here?
  9. So surgery is only 13 days away..and I don't know why the last few days have been so difficult.... Since I got my approval I've been pretty good not perfect but waaaay better then ever before about my diet...and earlier this month I started replacing Breakfast with protien shakes...but Tues I fell off the band wagon..HARD!!... It started with dinner where I ordered coconut shrimp, lobster stuffed mushrooms & shrimp cocktail appetizer, a bowl of clam chowder and a mojito (oh and I ate all the biscuits in the bread basket)..then that night I took a coffee with sugar and a coke to my class (i'm studying nights for my MBA).. On Wed I did protien shakes for breakfast and lunch, but then went out to dinner with a coworker had rice, short ribs and a beer.... Today I had a Protein shake for breakfast, and an Apple..lunch I had chicken Caesar salad and tomatoe bisque Soup but tonight erg I had 2 beef ribs, baked Beans macaroni salad and a coke... Honestly I feel gross and I'm disappointed in myself...I know I'm ready for this journey, so why am I slipping now right before its going to happen? Seems I needed to confess my preop food sins.. I guess I'm just looking for support, does anyone have tips on how to get back on track..anyone else go through something like this so close to the "starting line?"... I guess I need to just suck it up and recommit now bc my official preop liquid diet starts on the 20th...
  10. Thanks everyone, I'm going to stop beating myself up about this...if its a food funeral maybe I can catch it before it becomes a two week funeral procession lol..... and your right fewer little cheats now may help me let go of the mental food cravings later... Definitely no cheats during the preop diet! I don't want any complications from liver nicks during the surgery, or go through sugar withdrawal post op

    Exercise specifics

#1 re under arm flaps...try tricep dips...you can do them sitting on the ground as a beginner.... extend legs with bend at knee, pressheels into ground..place palms down by your hips fingers pointed towards your toes.. then slide palms behind you as comfortable..press into palms and heels to lift your bottom off the ground...keeping bottom off ground dip up and down using triceps to control your whole body ..engage abs for stabilitze movement.....its a great excersize... You can take it up a notch by increasing your range of motion..try doing it on a bench...place palms on bench and dip down... or if you need to really modify intensity to a lower level do it on the floor and leave your bottom onthe ground, just use your triceps to move your upper body weight only.. Hope that helps

    Dating sites

Hi just read a suggestion on this in another forum...they suggested doing non eating dates or when you go out to eat doing the Soup salad combo bc it goes down easier/ you can put away most of it without looking like you had two bites and pushed ur food around the rest of the time..hope that helps...good luck!

    June surgery dates

Love it!...I'm going to focus on that over the next few weeks!! I'm scheduled for the 26th and it seems so close but also like it'll never get here!!!
  15. I've experienced something similar my entire life....slim girlfriends, family..even guys I've dated over the years have informed me from time to time that I'm not "THAT BIG"... erg! most are well intentioned but every time it makes me cringe and want to crawl into a hole!!! So just my two cents but I get it, and hey no one says you have to explain anything to anyone, unless you want to

    June surgery dates

Hi june crew! ...I'm feeling like the 26th is sooooo far away...anyone else having minor fears creeping in? Don't get me wrong im definitely going through with it ... just looking to hear if anyone else is experiencing this as you get closer to your date?
  17. I broached the subject with my step mom (a nurse) when I started considering wls..but then I held off from saying anything more until I finished my research, reading articles, watching the surgery (gross lol), going through the approval process.. in fact it wasn't until I had a surgery date (upcoming 6/26/13) that I felt ready to share. I told my dad and step mom last night. We are a closely knit family so I expected it to be a difficult conversation, and it was. Not bc I'm unsure of my decision, but bc I knew my parents would be worried and fearful not just of the surgery itself, and possible complications, but also bc they would worry about the post surgery lifestyle implications. My dad doesn't agree with the surgery, he thinks that if I just commit myself to Portion Control and excersize I'll lose the weight. Although for the first time last night he looked at me and acknowledged I am obese (i knew it of course, that's why I'm on this board, but it still stung). My step mom thinks its the right choice for me, and would consider it herself.. I think the convo was so difficult bc it felt like I had to confront openly the fact that though I was an athelete once upon a time, I've struggled with weight issues for 17 yrs and have yoyod between 200 & 300 lbs. And that it has limited me. Knowing this and saying it outloud to others are different things. In some ways I felt like I was justifying a personal decision..ultimately having this conversation with them helped me feel more secure in my choice. To my dad's credit he made it clear, that even though he wants me to reconsider, he supports me whatever the outcome. The rest of the world is strictly on a need to know basis..... Work will find iut this week that I'm taking leave..Not telling coworkers, or extended family...and I'll cross the boyfriend/husband bridge once its built.. Heres my point: telling/not telling theres no shame either way..its about doing whats best for you, so that you have the support system in place to make this path lead to your goal...---wow! Things just got zen..lol ..Guess these anonymous forums just became part of my support system
