Sleeve bust open?
natedog51 replied to Jordan.brown2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stuck with my surgeon's plan to a T. Too much at risk and took a lot of work to get this far. It is only a short amount of time. Do not give in! You are strong! -
Cream of Wheat/Rice?
natedog51 replied to GlutenFreeSingleMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At my 2 week check up, I was released for hot cereal. -
You may have to set some ground rules because that is not cool. I don't know where you are in your journey, but preop and postop, you will have special nutrition needs that must be exclusive to you. You do not want someone to ruin your efforts. Just my 2 cents.

Does eating out become awkward after VSG?
natedog51 replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the issue of "you don't even want a glass of water?" Now, I just order a glass and push it away to save the headache/embarrassment. You learn to pick your battles. -
Protein before surgery
natedog51 replied to mittiga's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My protein was part of pre op diet. You will be on shakes for a few weeks before and after surgery to help get to the recommended level - typically 60 g per day. -
What can I add protein powder to? Need ideas.

Pretty neat app! Ty for sharing! Is it wrong that I set my sound to "oink"? -

Preop diet how much weight lost?
natedog51 replied to Kelsnikol's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Day 3 was the hardest! I've used Premier Protein all along. They are tasty but get old after a few weeks. I have learned to appreciate why my dog always looks depressed when I feed her the same thing day in and day out! -

Morbidly Obese Toddler Undergoes Gastric Bypass Surgery
natedog51 replied to A_New_Lily's topic in The Lounge
So did he have gastric bypass or sleeve gastrectomy? The story states both procedures. Just curious to know which one. I've heard of the sleeve being introduced at the pediatric level, albeit not quite this young, but this could be a normal procedure to help curb obesity specifically in the US. -
1. Riding on rides at amusement parks with my kids. 2. Being able to tie my shoes without gasping for air. 3. To run in a 5k. 4. To get in a booth at a restaurant without feeling like a sardine in a can. 5. To fly without having to ask for an extender. 6. To have a high self confidence when in a meeting.

Pre-op doet begins tomorrow. How much did yall lose?
natedog51 replied to GHill3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 28 lbs during pre-op diet. I was on it for 2 1/2 weeks. It is tough at first, but stick to the plan and you will be good to go! -
I got tired of the protein shakes before the food. I looked forward to dinner because I got to chew something! I mixed up the veggie and meat combo to keep it interesting. I stuck to the diet without cheating and lost 28 lbs in 2.5 weeks!

Great work! -
I am 5 days as well. I have found that cold liquids are easier to go down the gobbler. Have you tried popcicles or ice chips besides liquids?
-
That includes jello. More than likely sugar free, too.

Any sister/brother aug 22 sleevers?
natedog51 replied to maggiei's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm scheduled for 8/22. Started preop diet on 8/5 and down 22 lbs. -
Unfortunately, I have had a date change because the surgeon decided to take vacation on my scheduled date...that has been on the calendar for 3 months. Frustrated, but trying to maintain a positive attitude. Now scheduled for 8/22.

I have Aetna and their was the 2 year requirement that my doctor's office "preached" about at the seminar. There was mention that it could be from anywhere like urgent care or such. Maybe you will will figure out a way around it, but I do remember that as a key data point.
