    5 mo questions

Hey gals...something to make you feel better...you can NEVER stretch your sleeve. The part of your stomach that was removed was the stretchy part. Do some research and ask your doc. You may eat more than usual but you will never overeat again. There is also another post on here with some links to articles. This is another reason why you see people with the bypass gain it all back but not one with VSG. So yay us! Don't worry!
  2. Sleeved one is the most important May 7 and down 23 lbs. Finally getting past a 3 week stall. May 7...here I come!!

    Taking pills post-op?

Hello dear...I am 11 days post op and am able to take my pills. I crushed them at first but once I got uses to sipping liquids I am able to slide the pills down my throat. One of them I do have to cut in half. I suggest you buy a pill crusher and pill splitter. You can also ask your doctor if there is a liquid and/or a dissolvable alternative to your meds...you'd be surprised how many have that option. Good luck!! Definitely takes some getting used to. May 7...here I come!!
  5. Hello everyone. First I want to thank all of you wonderful folks who have helped me through this process. This forum has seen me the whole way through my decision and the surgery. I usually don't post because I like to read but today I am having a really rough day. It's my fault...I went back to work one week after surgery and over did it. I then developed a horrible sinus infection and had to stay out of work anyway...without pay. I am still in a lot of pain and had to go back on my pain meds. Yesterday I slept all day and did not get in any Protein and hardly fluids. Today almost the same but I have a huge gallon Water jug almost connected to me lol. I was doing so well with fluids and protein until the sinus crap. Now I am lucky if I ger 40 oz of fluids. I just wanted to vent. I saw here on the forums that water/fluids is most important in the beginning so I dont dehydrate so I am focusing on that. I feel sooooooo weak...unfortunately my 6 and 2 yr old kids don't quite get that. I also read that I will be tired for a few weeks as well. Anyway...sleeve family pray for my recovery this weekend...I HAVE to go back to work Monday. On a good note....I have lost 14 pounds since May 7. Thank you for your stories and for your prayers!!! May 7...here I come!!

    Day 10 post op...

Thanks so much for the warmth and support...means a lot! I dont get softs for another 3 weeks!! I want to eat badly and I must confess that I have put a few things in my mouth and chewed them until they disintegrated in my mouth lol May 7...here I come!!
  7. Urgurlr...I had mine on the 7th. No complications except for a little pain. I'm learning a lot about myself and my previous eating behaviors. It's a great learning experience and I've already lost 7 pounds!! I've recently been experiencing with my protein shakes especially since I got a blender...little bit of ice, skim milk, chocolate protein powder, and yogurt and it's a delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Hehe. Good luck and welcome to our new stomachs!!! May 7...here I come!!

    Solids, why must you hurt?

One week post op and already to soft foods? Maybe you're just not ready. I have to do two weeks of full liquids, then two weeks of pureed foods then soft foods. I think transitioning is the key and diff for each individual. Check with your NUT also. You may just need to stick with the basics for a while. May 7...here I come!!
  9. Had my sleeve on the 7th....piece of cake!! I am so glad I did this. And I've already lost 5 lbs!!! May 7...here I come!!

    Night before surgery

So here it is...two days post op and I'm doing great!! Its been very manageable with pain never going above a 6 for me. The hospital docs and nurses were amazing and I truly think it couldn't get any better than that. At home in some pain but walking around. Mourning the loss of food but celebrating the five pounds I have already lost!! Maybe it's bc I've had two c-sections but this is truly a piece of cake. So excited to have made this choice!! May 7...here I come!!

    Night before surgery

Omg it's the night before surgery for me too!!! Thank God my husband is amazing and keeps reminding me that I am doing the right thing...that I'm not taking the easy road out...that I'm not crazy as hell for choosing to have surgery. See...my hubby has Type 1 Diabetes, otherwise known as juvenile or brittle diabetes. I jave type 2 which is much less deadly but in the long run dangerous. We hate diabetes...I see my man on a pump daily struggling to keep his sugars in check. We were in the hospital a week ago dealing with diabetic ketoacidosis. So this I feel is the only way to fight diabetes and a tribute to my sweet man. Plus I'll look better in the long run. Lol. Good luck. I can't wait to see how you fare. I will check and try to post from the hospital....take care!!! We will be fine!!! May 7...here I come!!

    Louisiana Sleevers?

I haven't had a chance to go yet but I would like to. Do you go?
  15. I just can't believe it! May 7th is the beginning of the rest of my life. I wish it was tomorrow. Some people think I'm crazy...I know you've all gotten the looks..."you would have surgery to lose weight?!?" Well you would do chemo if you had cancer, huh? As an addiction therapist I would give my left arm for a cure for addiction. Anyway, what an amazing medical intervention for those of us who have suffered from an epidemic disease. And people ask, "arent you afraid of the pain?" Really? Two major C-sections for my bundles of joy.. Nah...not scared at all. Some pain has a means to an end. Anyway, I had to share my excitement with those who truly understand. Thank you for listening!!

    OMG I GOT APPROVED!

Bridg29...you should check with your insurance as I am definitely not am expert on that. The standard for insurance approval is usually a BMI of 35+ with a comorbidity and 40+ without but I am really not sure about a conversion. Definitely ask your doctor. Good luck!!
