whats best for heartburn at 12 days from surgery?
SleevelessinSeattle replied to Fulvio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yup. Maalox and Prilosec. Also, eating one or two bites every hour helps reduce the acid. -
4 days into pre op diet and feeling weak...
SleevelessinSeattle replied to WeightStruggle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm heading to Mexico for my surgery and our instructions are quite simple. Two protein shakes for breakfast/lunch and a protein and a salad for dinner. Can have an extra protein shake if needed. Sooooo....that's it for us! LOL. I also think the quality of the protein you consumes makes a huge difference. I'm afraid of the pre-mixed drink as there are a lot of ingredients in them that I don't know what they are! I just use 100% whey powder, almond milk and two frozen strawberries mixed in a magic bullet and wa-la ---- done I know every ingredient going into my body that way! I muched on some spinach leaves this afternoon and for dinner i had more spinach and two more strawberries, Fat Free Raspberry Vinegarette dressing, and two pieces of Tilapia with fresh lemon. I've got the munchies now so I grabbed a cup of chicken broth and a few bites of sugar free jell-o. I think I'm still okay as my calories have remained the same I've just sort of stretched things out throughout the day. -
Differences Between Surgery in US and Mexico (My Personal Experiences)
SleevelessinSeattle replied to Kris's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Thanks so much for sharing this. I have been round and round with insurance here in the Seattle area and finally,my insurance said that they would pay for any follow up procedures/maintenance but they would NOT pay for the procedure itself. So, with that said, I sent in the app to Dr. Garcia, he approved, put my down payment booked my tickets and I'm having the surgery in Tijuana for $4700 and that's all inclusive with the exception of airfare. Judging from your blog, it seems I don't want to be dealing with these crazy hospitals and insurance personnel anyway!!! Thanks again. -

MEXICO SLEEVERS?
SleevelessinSeattle replied to rollargirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am going to Tijuana and have heard the Marriott there is very nice. But i think going to Puerto Vallarta or Cancun would provide a more interesting experience for your friend. I also learned that a lot of the bariatric doctors practice medicine in more than one place. Tijuana is just convenient and MiHospital is located only 3 blocks from the border. I think that's why you hear so much about surgery in that area.
