For two weeks ( from week two to nearly week four) I lost absolutely NOTHING. I too, thought I was going to be one of the minority that this surgery did not work for. To make it more puzzling....I had to be consuming less than 500 calories a day....I am carrying 100 lbs of excess weight around......I couldn't figure out how I wasn't dropping like three pounds a day!! I had also announced my sleeve surgery to everyone and I could see them studying me to see if they could notice any loss. I felt like a failure!! My husband finally got tired of the lamenting and hide the scale. Best idea ever!!! It really was just a stall. When it finally broke, I lost like four lbs. Since then, it has been pretty steady since. I believe it is just your body adjusting. You undergo major surgery......then your calorie count is dropped to zilch. Your body says "Wait a minute!!"and starts to conserve. But you must remember, if you follow the program, eat as you should and exercise, it is nearly a mathematical impossibility that you will NOT lose. Drink as much Water as you can...keep up your Protein and lightly exercise. I promise, it will break eventually. This is par for the course. I don't like stalls, but at least I know now that they are part of the journey and they do break eventually!! : Hide that scale!! -

I hear you. I was sleeved three weeks ago yesterday. I have really had to think about stuff my husband and I used to do and how much THAT used to revolve around food!! Scary! I think it is normal to reflect on the part food has played in our lives and how that is going to change.Sometimes it feels depriving but I believe being on a limited diet doesn't help. There is so little I can eat right now that I am pretty much confined to getting all my meals from my kitchen and the list my surgeon gave me is truly weird. I keep wondering if there is a method to his madness...........needless to say, I am sick of the food on it and am really eating purely for nourishment at this point....which is strange, never did that before!! I do believe that all changes when you are free to eat whatever you want and can exercise good sense. Then you will be able to go places and make healthy choices in smaller amounts. Hang in there!! Everyone says it gets better!!! -

Can You Fail With The Sleeve?

OMG I totally loved that analogy about the commercials. I was sleeved a little over 3 weeks ago. I am still, technically, on the soft foods stage. Since i am off work for a month, I have realized just how many pizza commercials there on TV. At least one per commercial break. I found myself craving pizza, even though, technically, I don't think I could eat it and even if I could, I would maybe manage two or three bites and probably feel like crap after. Knowing that does not stop me from salivating whenever I see the pizza on the TV screen in all it's cheesy glory. I am like Pavlov's dogs. I believe food is an addiction. It is one we have to moderate instead of quitting cold turkey and therein lies the difficulty. The monster has to be let out of the box three times a day. This surgery shrinks our stomachs, however we still have to deal with the stuff in our head. -
