How long will it hurt to swallow?
Recycled replied to Rochellevsg's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There're might be some soreness from the tubes and such used during surgery, but it should be minimal. Any discomfort I had went away in a couple of hours. -
I'm only about 30 minutes from Costco, but I still order them off Costco's website anyway. Just more convenient.

I usually chuckle when I see these type of posts..... They should be in the powder Room. Men and women just do things differently...And that's OK.....that's the way it should be. From a guy point of view.....which I'm sure the OP really isn't interested in.......I came to the hospital the day of surgery with shorts and T shirt on, wearing flip flops.....and that's it. No bag, no wallet, keys, no jewelry, no nothing. Put the clothes in their plastic bag before surgery and then put them back on in the room after surgery. (Makes walking the halls after surgery a little more dignified). Then wore them home two days later. But then, that guys....we're just that way...... PS. Besides, for what it was costing......I treated it like a hotel.....if I needed something I just asked for it like room service. Everything was just fine.

I tried all the powdered shakes and didn't like any of them. Way back when I started, someone on here suggested Premier Protein shakes from costco. I tried them and have been drinking them for over 18 months every single day. They are ready to drink, smoothe like chocolate milk, no grit, no foam, tastes great and the lowest in ratio of calories to protein. 30 gms protein in 11 ounces and only 160 calories and 1 gm of sugar. Simply cannot be beat. (I check & compare labels on everything)

I pretty much took Colace on a daily basis. Helps to keep things moving.

So many stalls...is this normal? Help!
Recycled replied to kellmark's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The one thing that will completely change later, that is just hard to accept right now is "time". We want it NOW. The stalls are completely normal and they will continue to come.....and last longer each time...... Stay focused and determined. The weight will keep coming off. ...... .And the time thing......the "I'll never get there at this rate" thing.......Well, you won't believe it now, but.......you WILL look back after you reach your goal and exclaim over how fast the time flew by..... -
No Sleeve yet but I have questions. When you say puree, what and how?
Recycled replied to MIMISAN's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Throw it in a blender and hit "yuck". Really, it's not that bad......just close your eyes and eat it. Pretty much anything can be pureed......and you won't have to eat puree for that long. -
What is there to regret......there was nothing I liked about being fat. Obesity was a disease that was going to kill me and I simply had treatment to help rid myself of that disease. Now I live a lifestyle to help prevent it's return.

One little food for thought item.......(don't shoot the messenger) You might want to rethink or even edit some of the online details about your recent lifestyle experiences..... While your private life choices are entirely you own business and should not be subject to anyone's judgement......once on the internet.....it becomes public access and knowledge.......including the possibility of being viewed by the one you may just want to be serious with...........which might not go over too well..... Just putting it out there...... and I gotta say......your concerns are easily understandable.....the changes can be quite surreal... good luck, hope everything works out for you.

A little over two years out and thrown right back into my fat days...
Recycled replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
Hey, It's the whole Mars -Venus thing. Men just see things differently. He surely thought he was complimenting you. Why do you think we are always saying to you women......."what..??? what did I say?" We'll just never "get" women. So, back to you Lipstick......so you actually lost half of you......how'd you do it???.....(see, there I go ....). I gotta go find some of my Buds to shoot the breeze with...... -
Genepro- 30 grams of protein/serving untrue?
Recycled replied to Bluesea71's topic in Food and Nutrition
Think of it like gasoline in a car....... put the same one gallon in two cars and one might get 30 miles on it while the other might only get 10. How it is absorbed by the body definitely makes a difference, so I'll consider their claims until I hear definitive information to the contrary. I have been using GENEPRO for over a year and only tried it after I could not find a single other Protein powder I could stand. (And I tried them all) It has worked very well for me, so I keep using it. To each their own. -

Apologies. Not returning. Mea Culpa. Breast beaten.
Recycled replied to KateP's topic in Rants & Raves
Thank you,.....I try to amuse..... Somehow my data got switched with Lipstick's right above my post. -
I have battled obesity all my life because of how I felt ......and the perceived notions of what others looking at me thought. I have been married several times and they all said the weight never bothered them. I really didn't believe them or anyone else. What are they gonna say....."you look terrible and fat?" (not exactly great for a relationship) I am not naiive.......People tell you what you want to hear. And I am not blind or stupid either. I was fat and I looked terrible. So, all that being said.....I don't expect much to change even though I have lost the weight. People will still notice the obvious and so do I. I hate the loose skin, and wrinkles and saggy stuff. And just as soon as I can afford it, I'm gonna try to fix what is realistic. In the meantime....at least now I can hide most of it under clothes.

Stupid question about buying men's clothing in regular stores (not big and tall)
Recycled replied to VDB's topic in The Guys’ Room
Hey, I found I just can't win for losing....... When I was huge.....I could never find the 2x and 3x sizes anywhere and when I did they was a poor selection and were never on sale or cost more than the others. Now I have lost all the weight and wear a medium or large and those sizes always seem to be "out of stock". Go figure. But, I'm not complaining......I just smile.....still not believing I'm shopping in the normal sizes....feels great. -

I have found that if I start a thread that I am only interested in male responses........ then I state in the title something to the effect of "men only please". That way, the nature of the thread will show in "Recent Topics" as well and cue the reader that it is a Guy Room thread. Plus, it was much easier to just stop wearing all my panties that were getting all bunched up. No, really, I did ....it feels great going commando...... see, TMI. (I probably should have put this in the Guy's room......then again....maybe not ) -
Newbie with questions
Recycled replied to azsqwurl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
1. Sleeve. permanent limited intake and not rearrange internal organs. 2. Who cares. It's my life. I'm the one living it. 3. I could actually be satisfied and live healthy (full) on 3 ounces of food. Go figure. 4. 2 days in the Hospital and home. That was pretty much it. 5. Fast at first....then slower.....then real slow....(still I knew I'd get there) I got to my goal in about a year. 6. How has it not changed. Everything. I'm normal now. Being fat is never in my head anymore. I do whatever I want. 7. In a millisecond. 8. None. Except of course for the hindsight one.......Shoulda done it years ago. 9. It will be easy at first.....Learn the eating and exercise process intently.....because it will get harder later on and you will need to be able to stick to your plan until it's firmly ingrained in your daily routine and habits. 10. None. Each day there is the priority of getting in the Protein and healthy food within your new restricted stomach limits (so you stay healthy and don't get weak or tired). That doesn't leave any room for junk. As far a what type of foods. I eat everything, as long as it meets my requirements.......There is nothing I can't have. -
What is one guilty pleasure you cannot give up
Recycled replied to AussieSam's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Mine is less of a guilty pleasure than a "slippery slope" kinda thing. ****Chocolate*** I'll buy the smallest bags of Reese's to avoid gorging...(OK, now it would only be mini-gorging -5oz.) And I still log it in MyFitnessPal........so I stay within my daily limits. I don't really have anything that is forbidden.....I just really muster alot more effort now in controlling the urges to indulge in what I know is detrimental to me. It's hard, but I know this was my "last ditch plan" to lose it and there won't be a next time. -
You already knew how they are.......Solution - was to not tell them.
-
Don't kidd yourself......Being the "Big Guy" was just a slanted way of saying "fat"! Everyone knew it and you knew it too. You're certainly not going to be small at 6'4" but you will be fit and healthy and will live life in a whole different light. A much more positive one. And as far as food goes. Food will still play a very big role in your life. Maybe even more. You will develop a new knowledge base of eating healthy and while you probably won't believe me now, not only will you not miss eating junk and huge portions, you will crave your new food and healthy lifestyle. I'm not just spewing rhetoric.......it's true.

Weird Thing Happening!
Recycled replied to LisaDomalewski's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
nobody cares.......besides, you see what happens when you attempt to be so accurate...... a pallette is for painting and a "pallet" is what you would put a ton of bricks on. Just sayin.....let it go. The OP and I'm sure everyone else, gets the idea. -
Weird Thing Happening!
Recycled replied to LisaDomalewski's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not weird......just science. Muscle weighs more than fat it replaces. As you lose the fat and exercise, you gain muscle. The muscle will take up less space but not show a weight change due to being a little heavier than the fat it replaces. Hence the looser clothes, but the scale not moving. All good.....keep up the good work.... -
I know it's not the most desirable solution, but your statement of "never going to that hospital again" is probably your best option. I'm in the same boat as you medically and require ongoing routine tests often, which can be tedious. I have found that within our medical system, the conditions you describe to be very typical and prevalent. That being said, I have also found very professional and caring providers as well. and I always tell them so. As for the rude and inept ones..... their attitude and actions are totally unacceptable and just like your husband, I quickly let them know as I exit. I'm paying for professional service and care, not disrespect and abuse. I doubt my tirades will change them, but it makes me feel better. Either way, they're not getting my money, time or consideration. Maybe the money motivator with facilitate a change. Either way, there are plenty of others to choose from. Don't give up. Be strong, you are not the one wrong.
