  1. Did any have this pain or that pain......have a stall at 1 week.....or gas or throw up, or can't feel any restriction, or have regrets......etc etc etc..... Yep......someone did......all those things. Many, many times. It's probably safe to say you can eliminate the preface "Did anyone else?". Just start in with what you want advice, guidance or help or support with. Now before you all start biting my head off as being insensitive or worse.....This is just a light hearted, feel good, kidding around thread. I just chuckle under my breath when I read a Thread that wonders if anyone else experienced similar issues or events. The point is......to those who are worried and think they are alone or undergoing some strange "never heard of issue'......Relax..... It's all here and somebody will help. There is comfort in numbers. You don't need to work yourself into an anxiety panic thinking things are going wrong. Someone here will help you. And you're as normal as everyone else. Do a search or just fire away and say what's on your mind. And relax....... Did Anyone???? Yep, Many many many.....just like you.

    "Did anyone?"

Something medically specific that concerns you like the dizziness and low pulse is certainly something that needs your doctors feedback. You did the right thing there. That being said, I had pain issues after my sleeve that closely mimicked pains I experienced when having a heart attack a while back and it worried me too. I contacted my Doc and he was able to assure me it was all normal and would soon go away. Hopefully, that will be the case with you. Try to relax.

    Help!

Pay close attention to Kindle's statement above....!!! (....and the farther out you get the more and more it is about you and less and less about the sleeve. So now is the time to work on all your food demons and figure out a way to deal with life without turning to your old ways. Success takes commitment forever.) Time is of essence. You need to firm up those new habits quickly. For those of us who were lucky enough to have that hormone "Ghrelin" removed along with the majority of our stomachs......that was/is a real benefit in helping to curb hunger and appetite. But take heed......That hormone should be called "Gremlin" because like a devious imp, just when you think you have reached "nirvana"........it will return. Hunger will come back. And you need to be prepared to resist it with new patterns carved in stone. So work on those new habits now and don't deviate. Make them stick like on autopilot. You're gonna need to resist all our old ways later on. You can do this.

    Combining protein

I kinda look at it in a different way. Shove it however much you can. 25, 25, 45, . I try to get as much Protein as I can. You may eat or drink that 25 grams thinking that isthe limit, but there is no way to be certain the body is going to process all of that protein. You may only absorb half of it and pass the rest. So why miss out on any opportunity. I eat or drink as much as I can comfortably consume and let my body sort out what it can handle.

    Help!

The biggest issue with the sleeve is...... that going in, we hear about the surgery and then read about how much people have lost and that simply image is somehow all we think about......So simple. So quick. Get the surgery and be skinny. Bottom line. NO surgery will make you skinny. We are in fact told that all the way thru the pre-op process, but still we visualize that instant quickie result. Get the surgery and it'll be gone forever. Ehhhhhhhhh!!! Wrong. The surgery helps with our very bad decision making habits. We eat TOO MUCH. And the more obese we become the less exercise we do. We have let hunger and desire rule out lives. We all made very bad decisions, ate too much, and developed very bad habits. That is the formula for becoming obese and that is the reason for not losing it. The sleeve will restrict us in out bad decision of eating TOO much......which will HELP us to change that bad habit. But we have to recognize that is all it will do and take advantage of that jump start to use our brain...(which knows deep down what has to be done) and work on all our areas of bad decisions......See those first few pounds coming off and rejoice in our effort and build the resolve to not go back. To do what we know is necessary to achieve the results we need and want. The only two things that will EVER control ours & every other human on the planet's weight is "Diet and Exercise" It has always been that way ans always will. (What type of food .... and how much you eat and burning calories.) Your post also tells me that you know that too. You say " At first I followed the plan....." "I concentrated on protein".... But then you say things like " I can fit" "At first" is not enough. But you already know that too. And you don't FIT.....you limit. Measure your food. Your sleeve will help you limit and your body WILL be get by with that limited amount if you change you're bad decisions to "fit" or "stuff" more in. And you want to break that stall. Then Exercise. Whatever you doing.....do more. It's never gonna be about the sleeve. The sleeve will help but , It will always be about YOU!!! And you can do it. Good luck.

    You're overreacting
  10. Relax. Dates change all the time. Doctors have emergencies, issues with other patients, hospital coordination issues, overlaps etc. etc. . I'm sure your contract has clauses for date changes. Don't let it get your down or rush to make rash judgements. You've waited years......whats a couple of more days or weeks in the big picture. Take you time and evaluate things clearly and calmly and don't over react. If you still feel uncomfortable or unsure, then check into your alternatives.

    serious question for fellow "veterans"

Sometimes I'm more relevant than other times. Or more specifically "have been" more relevant. I remember at first I would jump in and try to enlighten & encourage someone that asked a question about something I had just gone thru.......I would typically be straight forward and try to explain in detail to belay any of their worries or fears. Now lately I find myself usually just clicking on "liking" someone's else's post. My recollection of specifics is fading and I remember answering the same things dozens of times before......usually with much more effort and detail than now. I tend to just read more of the veterans and maintenance posts.......Even those seem to be stuff that I have pretty much found out on my own as time goes on....... Bottom line.....there is mountains of very useful information for newbies, left by many veterans in their past post's. ........just do a little searching and pretend they just posted them......Have a scary Halloween everyone...

    Building muscle post surgery

As most have already said, during the beginning or the greater weight loss period, the limited calories will also limit the amount of Protein you're able to get in daily. I choose my foods carefully. Eat protein first and if there is room, then veggies and stuff. I always use protein supplements like powders, bars and drinks to get in as much as I can. Tried to shoot for 100 or over daily for the first several months. But, supplements add calories too, so you have to watch it. While you're losing you just want to keep from losing muscle. Building up will come later. I'm coming up on two years, reached my goal at just over a year and I usually get in over 200 grams of protein a day at around 1600-1800 calories. If I'm working out extra, I try to get extra protein.....close to 300g. It works too. last March I skied 100,000 vertical feet in 5 days. After twelve years away from the slopes. And I wasn't the least bit tired or sore. It definitely works.

    Arrrggh!

It's the Devil tormenting you.....procrastination.... the story of my obese, life long diet attempts. Good luck dude.
  16. People ask me all the time. Some are close friends that know I've been overweight for a long time and some just notice my eating habits and my constant referencing about nutritional needs. If I think the close friends are asking because they want to know how to lose weight themselves, I tell them about the surgery....and how it helped. The rest......get the short version.....which is also the truth. bottom line: Surgery didn't remove a 135 pound mass form inside me. I worked my butt off (literally) and chose to eat nutrional foods in the correct amounts, yada yada yada.......you've heard all this I'm sure. All rhetoric aside. Untimately, I'm the one responsible for losing my weight. Granted, the surgery helps immensely in limiting my intake at any one sitting, but at over a year out.......I could easily keep eating the wrong stuff all day long and put the weight back on quickly. You have to stick with life altering changes. Create new healthy habits. That is all you!! not the surgery. So, how did you lose the weight.........You lost it the right way.....the only way you "can" lose it. Oh, and and if they should ask "why did you have surgery?" It's really none of their business, but removing the gallbladder or a hernia repair are a couple of good ones....

    I need help ????

Most don't. And even if you find one, they will probably have a waiting period or some other exclusion. (ie: pre-existing conditions) After all, if wouldn't be cost effective for them if they paid out thousands after you only paid a premium or two.

    Bikes for big guys

I primarily hit the gym during my weight loss, at least until I was within 20-30 lbs of goal. Then I got a bike and ride it about 3-4 times a week at least 10 miles each time. The main thing that makes it not just possible, but enjoyable is the bike is a recumbent style. Soooo much more comfortable that a traditional diamond frame road bike. But I will warn you, they are very expensive. Still, I feel the bike helps me so much in keeping in shape and relaxing. Well worth it.

    Male Before and After Pictures

I have before and after pics in my profile. It's funny cause I wouldn't put the before until I reached my goal and could put the after pic. Kinda shows how the renewed feelings of self confidence washes away all the negative feelings and embarrassment we felt when we were fat But now it's all good...... You'll get there too. It's a fantastic feeling.

    any regrets

What's to regret. I'm over 18 months out from surgery and reached goal weight at about a year. I can eat anything I was able to eat before surgery......just a whole lot less at a sitting. And I've developed a new desire for much more healthy foods and have learned (with focused determination) to resist cravings and junk. I can now do all the activities I used to do in my teens and have plenty of energy with no real physical limitations. I start each day with a smile of how great life is now and how good I feel........Regret has never entered my mind once.
  22. I've always been a pickup guy for my main ride.....however the ride that did change as a result of my sleeve is two wheels.......and pedal power. I actually ride a bicycle now. And I LIKE it.......go figure. I get a real thrill putting in 10 to 20 miles for exercise and enjoyment. If really feels great. I even........drum roll.........found I needed to get those tight fitting spandex biking shorts for riding.....and the shirts too. Can't help laughing about that (doesn't seem real).......but it does feel good to feel normal when riding and look the part and not stand out as a joke on a bicycle.

  24. OK girls......walking at the mall is not usually high on a GUYS list.......Ahem......Guys room..............protocol......
  25. A little over a year. Probably very typical of most on here. Alot at first.....then slower and slower. Some of my stalls were for many weeks with no weight lost. You just have to stay focused and keep to the plan. Eat right, and exercise. That's pretty much it. It's a time thing. The year will fly by.....Enjoy the ride
