Medical Marijuana Use Pre-Op?
Recycled replied to vsgwoman's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery tomorrow? Cmon, You need to ask your doc, not us here. He's the one that needs to be aware of any meds you're taking. And yes, it's a drug. -
Hey, don't sweat it. In "guy terms" he's gonna feel like he's gettin some "strange" (legally...LOL) He'll be plenty modivated and overlook anything. My guess is you'll need a stopwatch to time "it" in seconds. Enjoy it.

I've been avoiding it for way too long.........No biggie once I heard the "sedated" part.

Well, my doc's support group has another meeting next Thursday and I'm not gonna miss it. I heard they are gonna be selling a.... very cute little white chiffon blouse number....... Oh my! .. can you believe it.......Everyone knows you can't wear white after Labor Day!!.......But I just have to see it! Toodles.....

Got a question for the guys. I've read alot of posts (all of whom were women) that complain about the large amount of gas buildup and it's discomfort. I need some clarification of this condition. Knowing how women tend to be very polite about any belching or release of gas, I need the mens description. Typically, we don't have the same viewpoints about gas as women.......(As in let'er rip anywhere) So what's the deal???? Does the gas cause discomfort cause it won't come out......or is this just a women issue. Just want to know what to expect. Do I need to have some GasX on hand or will I be able to get in a whole chorus of "Take me out to the ball game" with my belching and farting.

something apropros Oprah said once--re: "the easy way out"
Recycled replied to TES's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Momto6ix When you read "you can change your diet" and "you can do the exercise" it is confusing!. It's what makes the decision so hard. I ask myself constantly.....maybe I should just give it another try. The bottom line is......once you're overweight.......and all the habits are formed.....with no deterrents, it's hard to maintain any long term diet. With the cravings, the minimal losses, the difficulty with exercise, lack of self esteem, hunger pangs, on and on. If you're not obese, you just won't get it. A deterrent needs to be there. Not just to lose the weight, but to keep it off. The surgery is no walk in the park. There are risks, pain, restriction on intake or more pain and more risks.......always. That deterrent is what helps with the transition to being able to accomplish the changes needed and to stick with the lifestyle changes. And as you see the weight loss and feel the changes.......the self esteem changes add to the control. But it will still be all about maintaining that control and living with that deterrent the surgery accomplished. No-one wants to go thru that again or worse. I'm also hoping that once there, I will recognize how much better my life is and how much healthier I have become and my mind will get on board with my changes in habits to make it perrmanent. Just my take. -

Every procedure has a risk of complications. And what better place than the internet to express someone's frustrations with a surgery gone wrong or a terrible recovery. You can vent, rant, warn and even seek consoling from others. However, it's statistically unlikely to be a true reflection of all the surgeries and recoveries and their outcomes. If fact, it's more likely that the majority of those with routine or great outcomes are anxious to just get on with their new lives without the need to share it on the internet. But I do agree with you that ......if kept in perspective, the internet can be a useful place to gather first hand information that can help with one' s own procedure, what ever that might be. Just keep in mind........"I saw it on the internet....they can't put anything on the internet that isn't true"...........Nuf said.

Hmmmmmm, let's see now........everyone in the band forum likes the band.........everyone in sleeve forums like the sleeve......and all the bypass people like their bypass........ How will I ever decide.......I know.....I'll talk to my doctor and he'll help me decide what's best for me based on my individual circumstances. Moral.......the internet and forums are not always the best place for answers.

I had a comment for the powder room sex thread too, but I figured I'd get flamed so much it would burn the site down.

Tell me about it........I think they were more there for the social gathering rather than any gastric surgery support. Every now and then one would walk up to me cautiously, like I was an alien and ask me if I was alright.......as if I was lost or something........I won't be going back either.

OK, I'm over 40, under 100 and my bucket list is pretty well checked off.........and I see alot of you listed skydiving........Well I haven't skydived yet .....but as a pilot, there ain't no way I'm jumping out of a perfectly good airplane............ Oh yeah....... I'm not waxing either!!

Men: Telling "the Guys" About Your Surgery
Recycled replied to OneManWolfpack's topic in The Guys’ Room
I'm gonna tell em what they've heard me say many, many times in the past. "I'm on a diet again". Which is exactly the case. And I'm sure I'll get the usual jabs like ......."yeah sure.....the Atkins 2 minute diet".......or ......damn, "that means the local Wendy's and Pizza Hut are gonna go bankrupt" and I'll chuckle right along with 'em..............I'm sure there will be plenty of legit comments later when they see the results...... As far as the surgery......Guys don't really give a sh*t. In fact, I'll probably show them the five bullet scars where I single handedly stopped a bank robbery and captured a gang of crazed gunmen and saved 20 hostages. .......Yeah.....that's the ticket.. -

I'm just bringing the wife.........and she can get me whatever I need........ I call her the Pit Bull........if anyone gives me a hard time or drags their feet, I turn her loose on them. -
What my wife calls me is gonna be what I wanna be called if she wants an answer. Anything else I probably deserve.

It bruises because it's a blood thinner. Better to endure a little pain or bruising than a clot or DVT or stroke or worse. for the men stop whinning and man up and the women.......it's only a little prick.......you should be used to that by now........

when it comes to one eye, there's no room for guessing...... I had a pain a while back along with difficulty urinating and went to the PCP......yeah, he did the whole gauntlet......labs, ultrasound, blah blah.....So he says go home, drink lots of fluids.....it'll pass. It didn't......I went to the ER that night and had Cat Scan. Very large Kidney stone. The Urologist had to stent it and deal with severe UTI first and then laser it later. He told me if I had waited another day I could have had permanent Kidney damage. A later Scan revealed yet another stone in the kidney which he blasted (lithotripsy). Saving the laser up the ****. later. I now only trust a Urologist and make regular appointments.. Don't risk it .......get it checked by a specialists.

Mars <-------------> Venus

When you hens......err women are all climbing on the support wagon, just remember there are always two sides to everything.......... and a whole lot of unknowns .......Just sayin......... And SR910, I am reluctant to get involved in what is none of my business.........however......think about this.......during the time the two of you have established to "hope for things to get better",........... "missing" each other by itself won't do it.!! You both need to communicate to each other openly and truthfully. Ya know, the stuff your really thinking in your head when your telling your partner only what you think they want to hear. Real life stuff......not storybook. Most people tell their best friends more actual truth than they tell their partners. Telling him how you want him to act without knowing why he is acting a certain way, or if he can....... will solve nothing. Same goes for you. Life is too precious to not enjoy it when it is in your control to change it...........be it with the one you're with or finding another. You are going to experience alot of changes. Make good use of it. Best wishes.......

I cannot believe what I'm doing...don't I get it?
Recycled replied to AdiosPlusSizes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here's the formula......... Before surgery: Eat wrong or too much = no ill side effects until later.. (you get fatter) After Surgery : Eat wrong or too much = pain, damage to internal organs, pain, complications, more painful surgery, no weight loss, possible death. Reason for surgery = refer to above "after surgery". If there were no consequences, it wouldn't work. Scared straight is what makes it work. -
Sounds like a lot of suggestions and judging going on by virtual strangers. No matter how you slice it, men and women are always gonna be from Mars and Venus. Ya know the real plus about living alone.......ya can't argue with yourself......(well ya could, but then they'd hafta put ya away.) Everyone is an individual and different. Constant compromising in a relationship is difficult. Space is always good. Put any two people together in a room and they will most certainly disagree about things. Whatever you do, don't do it based on suggestions from here. Good luck.

If a sleeve is a sleeve...why do diets from the dr's vary so much?
Recycled replied to luckysmomma's topic in Food and Nutrition
Just put it into perspective.............When your not sure what to eat......picture robbing a bank. You go into the vault.......Do you fill your pockets with piles of coins or take the $100 bills. -

Magnesium Citrate. Available at Walgreens over the counter. Taste like unsweetened Kool Aid. Refrigerate it to go down better. Drink all at once. takes only a couple of hours or less to work and clears you out completely with no stomach pains whatsoever. I keep some in the Fridge always. Works when nothing else does. I used it exclusively during my knee replacement recoveries due to severe constipation from long term use of pain meds. That miserable blocked feeling was worse than the knee pain. I won't let that happen again.

Introducing myself, looking for friends, advice & info...
Recycled replied to Pixie Dust's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey Pixie, while your getting introduced to forums you might want to check out BoneSmart.org for the knee. I had both knees replaced and was very lucky to have found them before my surgeries. The information and support was priceless. I go by "Recycled" over there too. I have yet to get sleeved and am hoping for the same benefits here. Good luck.
