Got a Endoscopy and Colonoscopy screening scheduled to be done at the same time. Anyone here had both done at the same time? Also getting a Ultrasound of the Gallbladder. I just had an EKG, KUB and Urologist checkup and a head CT. Heart, Kidneys and noggin are OK. Any other tests I should get before surgery just to be sure?

Also Miami, no date yet. -
Question for the guys on injections for low T. When did you notice an actual change and did you do a follow up test to determine your new levels....and what were your new level goals......and did you reach them.......and do you maintain them without ups and downs in levels.or effects. ?
-
Ok, tests are done. Everyone here was dead on with their descriptions. Not only was it a complete non event, everything checked out fine. Actually drinking that crud and going thru the prep part was the crappy (I mean that) part. The scopes were a breeze. Shoulda done it years ago.

Play it for all it's worth.....you earned it.

Did my revision & I am home , but I am disappointed & worried
Recycled replied to Halloul's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Should have removed the band first...... wait three month......get another revision later.......get another surgeon to do another sleeve surgery.......should have let it heal first....... Wow, I am so amazed by how many sleevers become instant Doctors. And even more fantastic is their ability to diagnose someones condition or to find fault with a Surgeon's decisions, ...... sight unseen. Encourage people, comfort them, but don't play doctor here. There is absolutely no way for any of you to know what the "Surgeon's" reason was for why he did what he did. But I'll bet he knew what was best for "His" patient, better than a bunch of random guessing. And to Halloul, I realize you are looking for comfort and answers, but you really need to talk to your Surgeon about the details of your surgery and if that is not possible or does not provide you with adequate answers, then consult another "Doctor". Don't look for medical answers to your specific condition on a Forum. And by all means follow the advice where offered to make the best of your procedure and gain a positive outcome. But for specific medical answers or solutions, consult the professionals. Good luck. -
I can settle this very easily. Wait.......... The alternative will be upon you before you have time to discuss it here. It's called gettin old. The knees will be titanium/plastic and the feet will have plantar fasciitis. You can be 90 lbs. soaking wet and the only way you're running is if an escaped tiger is chasing you. You new best exercise will be called ......walking.

Whew, I just had to duck into here for awhile and talk fishing or arm wrestle someone or just do alot of cussing. Too much estrogen in those other rooms....... I still have a long way to go till surgery and my Doc has a support group that meets monthly, so I figured I check it out. Ya know.....to check on everyone's progress, see what foods they eat and talk some recoveries with guys that don't include bursting into tears every five seconds....... Boy was I wrong........I walked in and there were 17 women and me. After I huddled there quietly listening and watching a bunch of lame bungee stretching exercises, as the meeting concluded several of the women felt the need to nuture me about the process. I gotta admit it was very supportive on their part, but it just reinforced the differences between men and women attitudes and mannerisms. If it were't for this Man Room, the gender specific support would be all but non existent. Well that's enough completely unimportant rambling........as you were gentlemen......!

I'm baaaaccck. Seems I ticked off another thinned skinned estrogen factory in one of those eggshell rooms. I think as a society we are missing the boat on quality sports entertainment. We need to put more women in the ring and in full contact events. They are vicious. Of course there would have to be time outs for all the crying and tears. ROFL. Yeah, yeah I know.....can't live with 'em and can't live without 'em and can't kill 'em. Be careful though.......cause they'd probably do us in, in a heartbeat.

Am I doomed? (Please say no!)
Recycled replied to Kellylynn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cmon, this is Psych 101...... You're about to give up all the foods you luv.........You know the nice....big.....stomach is still there and can handle any amount you cram in there. And the food probably taste better than ever before cause you're savoring each bite.........and of course the ole stomach hormones are pumping out the "foooood".....give me fooood signals. But no worries......in a few short hours.......your brain will be warning....no .....telling you.......NO no no.....if you eat that, your stomach will EXPLODE!!!!!! and you'll die.......And I have a feeling you'll listen. After all, that IS why we are all doing this. It's forcing us to NOT eat cause we have no choice!!!! And choice is what got us into this mess. Relax, you'll be fine. The Docs are used to it and can handle tons worse. Keep your head on the goal......The skinnier you. -

Pack?? I go in to any surgery with gym shorts and a button up shirt and flip flops. Put them in the little bag they give you...... Leave in the same. Done. (Guy simple.) -
Be sure to check with your cardiologist, as your sleeve surgeon will want you to stop taking the Plavix (and most other meds too) about 5 days before the sleeve. In my case, with any surgery I stop 3 days prior and resume 1 day after.
-
Well, my opinion would be somewhat slighted in favor of the sleeve due to my own personal choice based on my needs. You need to review the differences of the two and what your individual goals and expectations are, along with the lifestyle adjustments each will require after surgery. Typically, if you have a great deal of weight (very high BMI) to lose, you might expect greater losses, faster with the RNY. However it will also require greater lifestyle changes and adjustments post op. Talk it over with your surgeon and see what he suggests for you, then decide for yourself what is best. Good luck

People, people, people. All companies are in the business of money. And insurance companies are the greediest. Their goal is to never pay out a dime. All this pre, pre, pre stuff is to get you to GIVE up or mess up and not provide some BS form or record they make up. Just keep trudging away and eventually they will run outa objections and have no choice but to approve it. Good luck.

Not necessarily. Plavix is usually given when a DES stent is used. (drug eluting stent) If a cath or cat scan can confirm the stent is covered and no metal is still exposed, then possibly the Pavix can be discontinued. I just see it as a safety net anyway, so yeah......probably for life.
-
I've been on Plavix for almost 5 years. I'm pre-op sleeve and I get quite a bit of heartburn and acid reflux now and doc told me to take Pepcid AC. While the cardi doc was not thrilled with my choice for WLS, she is on board so long as it helps me get to a healthy weight. Both cardiac and sleeve surgeon says Plavix for both the surgery and post-op will not be an issue.

Medical Marijuana Use Pre-Op?
Recycled replied to vsgwoman's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First of all, this post is not about marijuana. It's about keeping your surgeon apprised. Second, I won't even get into how many drugs are made from plants or the plants that can kill you as well. Also, I have nothing against weed. I am very fond of it. And last.......what you did or what you feel works for you is also not really the issue. As far as this post, It would be what vsgwoman's surgeon feels is right for her. Take a drag and chill out. -
