  1. Wow, 109 lobs in five months. You are obviously doing what is right. And even in light of your temporary setbacks, you know what to do to keep the weight coming off. Just keep doing it. You'll get there. Terrific results. Don't let any negatives get to you.
  2. My mindset is not really based on what's the norm or recommended . I intend to just go by the results I get. I don't care about goal weight. I have some clothes from 30 years ago when I was the size and shape I want. When I fit into them, I'm there. And as far as calories. When I reach that goal, I'm gonna eat what feels necessary and comfortable........if I gain....I'll adjust to not gain. Whatever the calories are, they are.
  3. I sometimes have difficultly with support groups because they can be enabling. I wasn't even gonna comment on your post, cause I'd probably get flamed by a dozen others. Ya know, "if you can't say something good or supportive don't say anything". But here it is. This surgery is serious. they are removing organs from your body. Complications can happen. And whatever the outcome, it's permanent. All this and it will still demand the most effort from you to be successful in the long term. My opinion means nothing, but I just feel based on your present viewpoint, you're not ready. Everybody is not right for this surgery. Have you been to the shrink yet. Most approvals require it. Maybe that should be your next step. Good luck with your choice.

    Totally clogged

Impacted is something you do not want to ignore or waste time messing around with what doesn't work. It will only get worse and you will get to a point you want to go to the ER and have 'em get it out with a rooter router. Go to the drug store and get a bottle of Magnesium Citrate. It taste like unsweetened koolaide. Drink it down and all will better in about an hour or so. It will completely clean you out and is very easy on the system as well.

    Who makes the decision?

It's not really a diet trial or nutrition class. "It's a six month opportunity for you to change you mind or give up and the insurance won't have to pay" - trial.

    I'm sleeved!

Most important for that 3 hr ride is to stop often and get out and walk some. Sitting long periods is not good. The walking will help ward off DVTs. (clots)
  7. My buddy came over the other day and the first thing he said is "Hmmmm, you look the same. After taking eight months of prep and all the hospital stuff, I figured you'd look all sickly and in agony" Ya know, that's my feelings too. I think it's all a scam. the so-called "hole-scars" are burn marks. The shakes are meds to make us feel full and gassy. Our spouses are in on it too. They put drops of that stuff to make you puke in all the food over 3 bites. They cater to you so you'll feel needy & whinny. It's just a sham. There was no surgery. Yea......that's the ticket.....you can't fool me. Then again......maybe not.

    Same day?

My cardiologist made the call. She wanted me monitored for two nights in the hospital. Still, one day would have been rough.

    Could be normal

I am also still on liquids and I haven't really found a restriction on the liquids. Occasionally I feel some pressure if I gulp, but I can put away 12oz. fluids rather quickly. soup too. My assumptions are the liquids pretty much go straight thru without much if any restriction. I'm sure puree and foods will be very different.

    I cant get full

Before surgery.?! My guess would be, just about everyone. I ate all the time. That's how I got so big. I don't quite understand why you would think your hunger would diminish before surgery. That's kinda the point of getting the surgery. As far as the pre-op diet. Mine was liquid only, and it was a bear the first two days. Then I just kept telling myself, "don't blow it, the surgery is very soon now. You'll get thru it.

    6-8 bites

I have a question related to this topic. When there is a reference to a certain amount of ounces one can eat based on their sleeve size or the amount recommended by their doc.... Is the reference in ounces of volume or weight???
  12. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I am going to ask my Surgeon about putting me on it at my first po office appointment. I will be about 2 weeks out then. Anything is worth it in my book if it will help prevent a repeat visit to the OR to remove the gallbladder.
  13. the "new Mommy" will become the old Mommy... Art, have you learned nothing in man's struggle to understand the fairer sex.......you never say "old"......
  14. Probably the air you're taking in with each sip. It will ease up as your stomach swelling goes down and you pass more of the gas.

    Nail polish off before surgery?

I believe that while under anesthesia they need to be able to see the color of your nails to determine the saturation of Oxygen during surgery.
  16. Tomato - tomahtoe.....I looked into all of them and settled on a Blendtec. Great blender. Does everything. Longest warranty. Cost more than Ninja, less than Vitamix. Uses a design with dull blades which accomplish the same blending but never need replacing like ones that are sharp. Whatever floats your boat.
  17. I went on full liquids upon leaving the hospital and was able to easily take my meds without crushing anything.

    That was quick.....

Well, I was on unlimited clears for the couple of days in the hospital. Then full liquids for the next two weeks. In the last couple of days, I have managed to get in about 80 grams of Protein and 75 or so ounces of liquids. I just take it in small sips. Basically, I figure it just goes straight thru. Urine is barely tinted yellow, so I'm stayin hydrated pretty good. I think you might have misunderstood your doc. 1 ounce an hour sounds grossly inadequate. You could easily end up dehydrated. I would suggest double check those figures.

    That was quick.....

Sounds like you and I pretty much have had the same experience. No back pain though, but I did a lot of walking.

    That was quick.....

Very sharp long lasting pain in my abdomen. Took a good five minutes to subside. Switched to sipping and allowing time interval and all was well from then on.
  21. Started this whole process back in March of 2013 and after a lot of bumps along the way, I'm finally approved. I will be getting my surgery date later this week. Looks like it's gonna be my New Year's resolution. (One I can't weasel out of this time).

    Finally Approved.....now It's Getting Real.

Didn't even need the alarm. It's 5:00am and I sprung outa bed. I think I scrubbed a layer of skin off in the shower too. Strange how anxious I am to rush to the pain and misery. Ironically, even after two weeks of liquids only, I'm not the least bit hungry. Now thirsty is another matter. This no Water after midnight stuff sucks. Well, top of the morning to y'all. As Arnie's says......"I'll be back".
  23. Stop lyin.......your're lovin it. That's what guys do. And that's what women dress for. Yeah, I know, it's all about the health, and eating right.....yada yada yada. You want to be looked at. We all do. Enjoy it. You earned it.
  24. I guess it depends. I'm taking aspirin right up till surgery day and resuming as soon as they confirm no bleeding. Of course mine is based on my Cardiologist's orders.
