  1. I can still remember times before surgery when I would really eat too much. And I mean too much. I knew I shouldn't have eaten that much, but just kept eating. When it finally registered, I felt so bloated and full, it felt like I would pop. So uncomfortable and regretful. Well imagine my surprise when I reached the soft foods stage and with a measly 3 ounces, I have again felt those same "full to the brim" feelings. Except now it makes me chuckle. Yep......3 little ole ounces and I'm full. And it takes awhile to ease up too. How cool is that. It'll come, so be careful and measure your food and take it slow. Enjoy your sleeve.

Can't tell if I'm full, can you?!

Is it you mind or your habits..?? Try to get your mind around the idea that those signals (like puking or pressure) you're feeling "are" the feelings of being full. And recognize that when you think you still need more food, that is just your old habits hanging on. Eating is what we all did. All the time. I filled any spare time looking for food to eat. I really didn't need it......I just filled in the time with eating. Now I'm full quick and there is alot of unused time and occasionally my thoughts go to thinking I'm still hungry. I quickly realize that's impossible and think of something else or go do something else to get my mind off of it. Re-teach your mind. Develop new habits. Busy yourself. Go walk or do some exercises. You'll get the hang of it.

Preop dieters... How are you keeping track?

My pre-op diet was simple......."liquids only" But to answer your question, yes there is a great app. check out myfitnesspal.com. Easy to use and update. Tracks everything and a very complete database of foods & drinks.
  5. I saw your link to the 7 bites youtube and it is really a cool site. Fantastic for guys like me that can't cook anything. Thanks. Bill

  6. week 8??? I'd probably be dead. When it comes to who's in charge, my cardiologist is the boss. She's actually the one that kept me 2 extra days in the hospital and was the one to discharge me, not my Surgeon.
  7. I take quite a few pills every day. I was off all of them a week before surgery and resumed a couple of days after. Only one I stopped taking as it was just really large and I didn't think it would go down right. Like others have said, you may have to have the levels adjusted as well. My doc is running a full blood panel at 5 wks to determine all my levels and if there are any absorption issues and will make any adjustments after that including adding the appropriate Vitamins if needed.

    Full Liquids... Suggestions

I have a Blendtec blender and during full liquids I blended everything into full liquids. Supposed to use a strainer to get out the chunks, but with this Atomic blender there was nothing left behind in the strainer.

    Baby Food? Pureed Foods stage

I think of Puree like pate'. I blend only enough so it remains thick - Tuna, chicken, turkey, Soups, etc. I also consider the foods that end up pureed while chewing, like cottage cheese and other soft stuff. After the liquids stage, anything with taste is good, so yucky doesn't become an issue.

I been tracking everything I eat and my exercise on My fitness pal and my meals are getting boring. Plus, when I hit stalls, I start to think I might be doing something wrong or missing something. If anyone is using the app and doesn't mind, I would like to include them as My Fitness Pal friends so we could exchange info. Sorry ladies, but I am only requesting participation from the men on the forum. I feel men's metabolism and exercise programs are more gender specific and would better serve my interest in this area. My user name is "RecycledPlastic" on my fitness pal.

    How many calories per day?

800 is my number, but I usually net around 600 after exercise.

    Herbalife Shakes

Yep, I agree. With the sleeve's limited space, I screen what goes in very closely. And the highest in protein gets priority.
  16. No dear, it is not too early......It's too LATE. As in no more, ever.......never, nada, nien, neit, or "Just don't do it". NO carbonation period. OK, I think you got the message.
  17. Muscle weighs more than fat. You could be still losing fat, but gaining muscle which nets some added weight. Plus the added weight training demands more calories and carbs. You might have to eat more. If everything is on track, just hang in there and the weight will drop. Plus adding more fluids can't hurt..
  18. There is no amount of advice about when to weigh that is going to stick for everybody. Everybody is gonna do what rocks their boat and settles their mind. I check every day as a incentive. And I use my own analogy about the result. If I lose, then I'm even more motivated to keep doing what I'm doing. If I stall or (the demon of all demons) gain, then I insert even more effort to double check everything and add in any adjustments I can to tweak the formula. I need the daily check to keep it number one priority. Others certainly may have other motivations to monitor their weight at longer intervals. Just go with what suits you.

    Transition from liquids to purees.

liquid to puree is a big difference. At least it was for me. I really had no limitations with liquids. I could drink quite a bit in a very short time. The puree however will demonstrate to you just how big your sleeve really is. First measure the appropriate amount (for me about 3 ounces) and eat it very slow........then wait for the feeling of fullness. Kinda like pressure in the chest. Don't try anymore after that. Then wait for 30 minutes to drink. I pureed just about everything. It's good to have some real food taste. However, now with all the limits of a few ounces and all the before and after waiting to drink, you will have to be diligent to get in enough Protein and calories. Enjoy.

    TOMORROW IS MY DAY!

Both of you have a good frame of mind for tomorrow. You're there, so just try to relax and enjoy a nice nap tomorrow. You'll get to join all us losers soon.
  24. I have not read anyone's specific experience with plication, but in so much as it involves suturing the stomach just the same as in sleeve surgery, I would expect the recovery times and limitation to be similar. For the sleeve, lifting any weight is usually restricted for about a 4-6 weeks. This is a question I'm sure your surgeon would instruct you for post op recovery. If not, then ask him.
