Let's see.......turn your head to the right and cough! oops.....wrong gender. Guess I don't even fake a doc very well.......Let's try another approach...... Confucius Say: Too many possibilities. Needs to be a professional diagnosis. Time for a visit to the PCP or Gastro-Guy.

My go to "boredom munchies" are Jerkys, raisins, almonds, little fruit cups and if I'm short on Protein for the day....then a Protein Bar.

So, now you have shown you can do it, it's time to chuck all the excuses..... Ok, don't rest up too much.....now it's time to repeat the process about 4-5 times a weeks, be it walking the neighborhood or the gym treadmill. Ok, maybe not 5k each time, but try a mile or so. There is no other exercise that you will see more improvement in such a short amount of time. You just have to get out there and make it a routine. Great Job.....keep up the good work..

Hi ! New to this site!
Recycled replied to Mandyb2006's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hmmmm, what profile? My suggestion would be to first check your local Bariatric Surgeons and see if they have any seminars on Weight loss surgery. Then.......go to one! I'm not trying to be a smart alec. That really should be your first start. Along with providing info on the various surgeries, they will typically use a coordinator that can inform you of the requirements to qualify and they will check into any insurance coverage you might have for the surgery. So, as I said above...... Find one and go to it. -
Surgery date next week, everything moving so fast!
Recycled replied to The Laughing Cat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You have an excellent outlook. I am sure you will do very well. Wishing you a very smooth ride. -
Excellent advice. You will have a different perspective without the pain.

I had knee surgery and awoke in ICU to a whopping 10+ pain level on a 1-10 scale. Then I chose to go thru it again in 30 days on the other knee. Why........ Cause I had to consider the bigger picture. The long term benefits. I am two years out from those knee surgeries feeling great and went into my Sleeve surgery with no concerns for any pain or challenges......because more than Life itself, I want to no longer be obese and have to deal with everything that comes with it. Give it time. Your feelings will change as you recognize the benefits. Hope you feel better.

Is it necessary to drink protein shakes?
Recycled replied to Lisa00's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear ya Nana. I used them quite a bit during my pre-op and in the early liquid stages. But as time goes on, I am liking the taste less and less. And to answer you question. I actually feel it is better for you if you can reach your daily Protein goals without the supplements. I now eat alot of fish, pork, tenderloin steak, turkey, chicken and ham to obtain most of my protein. Also drink fat free milk, cottage cheese, some eggbeaters, and snack on nuts and Jerky. All good sources of protein. However, I go to the gym quite a bit and I have gotten accustomed to using Quest power bars to boost my protein and add in some carbs and some much needed Fiber. And I still do drink the occasional premier shake. -
Ok now....no disparaging the loser's bench. I am very happy to be on that illustrious bench. Being that you're only on liquids, it might be several days before any signs of a bowel movement. And then you might need to help it along with a stool softener. Just a heads up.
-
No real limits. Your liquids intake may seem unrestricted (as in no feeling of fullness). Don't worry about that. You need to try for 64 ounces daily anyway. Just drink what you can during this stage. You're gonna feel better and better each day.

Finally gonna get a lapband or sleeve
Recycled replied to planningband07's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Whichever surgery you decide on, if your Surgeon discovers a hiatal hernia, they will repair it right then during the WLS. And if your insurance covers WLS, it should certainly cover any additional charges for the hernia repair. Not sure what you meant by "same time or within 30 days". Prior to your WLS most doctors suggest an Endoscopy to check for any issues including hiatal hernias. It's an easy painless procedure. -
having emotional issies. march 25 is the day.
Recycled replied to roses1223's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe. No maybe. get rid of them as quickly as you can. Do you still keep Cookies and cake in the house? You eliminated the unhealthy food, so do the same with all aspects of your unhealthy lifestyle. Maybe even buy something you can't fit into yet (if you don't already have some from time past). Most of my fat clothes were worn out cause I hated buying fat clothes and had very few items and usually wore them too tight in denial of my size. So I pitched most of them right away. I try on the smaller clothes in my closet about once a week as motivation. It's such a fantastic feeling fitting into the next size down. I want no reminders of what I am leaving behind or a security blanket to fall back on. -

This time, after you lose the weight, the small stomach will still be small. So if and when it gets tough to maintain, you will still have the major tool that helped you reach you goal. Don't abuse it and it will also help you to continue to stay at your goal. Now stop worrying about what you won't allow to happen and concentrate on the effort at hand. -
Does anyone know of a good fat free mayo?
Recycled replied to Aunt GG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sometimes Nut can pigeon hole you into a category they derived from some book somewhere by some skinny author. I would give alot more credence to the advice you garner from the ones on here with real life experience. Plus the fat free Mayo is really gross. -
I assume your reference to judging is directed at me. If I was insensitive in any way, I apologize. I certainly didn't intend for you to take offense to my response to your post. I was merely trying to clarify what it was you were concerned about. Your post was ambiguous in this regard. I was in no way belittling you or your post. I just could not find a question in it to answer. Others were also trying to support whatever your concerns were by simply suggesting everyone loses at different rates and there is nothing to be concerned about. Even your own post states this. I hope you do not continue to feel anyone was trying to be judgmental or un-supportive and will return to inquire about any issues or questions you may have during your recovery.

@@Alex Brecher. I was looking over when I post and I noticed I usually center the page on the post area only. Rarely do I even see the titles at the top of the page listing the forum topic or room. I know absolutely nothing about programming but I was thinking.....If you could list the forum room right after the "how many minutes ago'' line in every post. .......ie: " posted 9 minutes ago in The Man Room" It would be more visible when reading each post I know I've mentioned it before, but just thought I'd re-approach it with more of a suggestion than just complaint. I know this still doesn't solve the replying to the Recent topics section without regard to the room posted in, so I'll leave that dilemma up to you.

That's it. That's not a story. I got me a nice Protein shake, turned the the A/C down a little, and settled in to read a "Story"..........Cmon, we all did VSG. That's not the whole story. Get back here and finish. I know you have one.

Sometimes I don't quite know what to make of some posts..... Are you & your fiance' concerned cause you losing too much or not enough......If you based it on your weight loss so far....you would theoretically lose about 50 lbs in 30 days..... (which you probably won't). Either way, what @@PdxMan said is how you should consider you basis for losing.

THEY WANT TO DO WHAT....HELP ME
Recycled replied to Rebellious Butterfly's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It like someone tucking you in at night..........you lay on your side (at least I did. I got scoped both ends) and get comfortable. Then they put this pacifier thingy in you mouth and next thing.........they're taking it out........Waaaaa......is it over? --- "Yep" Most uneventful nap ever.............. -
Vogue said : Many of the super morbidly obese end up with multiple PS procedures. A pannus that is too huge can impede further progress. I was unaware of this. What you say certainly makes sense, I didn't know insurance companies would consider it more than once. Thank you for this information.
-
Probably thought you'd never get there.... huh? Next stop.....onederland. Great progress.

With the amount of weight you have lost and the expected amount to still lose, I'm sure the reasons for getting a penni would be unquestioned. However, everything I have read and heard suggests, it will probably not be considered until you are almost at your goal. You would certainly not be satisfied either if you had it done too soon, only to end up with lots more sagging skin and problems upon reaching your goal. Good luck. congratulation on your great success. Keep up the excellent effort.

Hunger? I just ate.....
Recycled replied to JillC878's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
head hunger is like the TV. All those food commercials are meant to work on your mind, not your stomach. And then the mind goes about reminding us of those stimulating impulses all the time. Mostly when we have conditioned ourselves to responding......like finishing our meals too fast and wanting more....biggie size, or when we are bored and lazy and trying to fill a few moments during TV commercials or sitting in traffic staring at fast food joints. Get yourself a Water bottle to hang onto and drink when the urge arises. Or get up and do a walk outside. Get you MIND off of it. You're NOT hungry. -
I don't know about lollipops, but that did remind me of something else. I wasn't allowed to drink anything after surgery till the leak test was done the next day and I would get extreme dry mouth and lips. The Hospital had these really cool little sponges on a stick that I could dip in cold Water and wet my lips. What a relief they were. I was using them every five minutes. Just FYI.
