Friend said she's disappointed
Recycled replied to beme2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
See..... this is the difference between men and women. If a guy friend noticed I lost weight, he'd say.....What's up dude.....you been working out?? And if I answered, "some, and I got weight loss surgery too". Then he'd say ...."hey, whatever works dude".....!! That would be pretty much IT. Oh, I forgot to add.....if that same guy happened to notice a female it would typically go the same with one little addition....."Wow girl you look good, wha'cha been up too?" girl responds: I had WLS. guy answers: "Damn, it sure worked....you look hot!!" See....being shallow does have it's upside.... -
Here......write this down......"I can't believe my surgery is tomorrow. I am so excited to begin my new life." It seems getting the call speeds up time........You will be posting that title in a flash. Congrats on the date.

You remember the story about the Emperor's new clothes??? Well that's me and my sleeve. Regardless of what any surgeons or research or any others might say about stretching.......I'm perfectly satisfied sticking to the belief that my sleeve will burst if I overeat. That's why I got it and that is my motivation for the duration. There is no downside in this regard. I stay within my limits and I lose the weight and keep it off and don't explode my sleeve.

Wow, 126 pounds at 7 months. Stall or no stall, that's great. You are obviously doing things right. -
Constantly tired ...normal?
Recycled replied to matt1912's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Matt.....if you are actually moving that much at your starting weight......that would certainly account for being tired. My guess is you're gonna be alot better tennis pro when you get the bulk of that weight off. Keep in mind.....cardiac is not the whole picture. Cardiac burns for only a short time after while muscle will continue to burn and burn more. Keep it up... the energy will return soon. -
Simply by asking the question, it shows you are in fact aware of what you were doing. All I'm saying is when you become aware......avoid doing it. Good luck.

Constantly tired ...normal?
Recycled replied to matt1912's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Matt, Get the Protein in first. Then get you butt moving. If walking is all you can do at this point....then walk. Alot !! Then maybe sign up for a gym and start some weight training. You've got to get that lethargic body moving. The exercise will stimulate the metabolism and increase weight loss. And it will invigorate you with more energy. It's a win-win. As an added note.....some research has indicated that it can take a few months to completely clear the body of the anesthesia used during surgery. That can account for some of your tiredness. -
You know those garbage bags they show on TV where they keep cramming in more and more as the bag stretches and then they show the other brand that bursts when they overfill it. You sleeve is the "other brand". Stick to your measuring. If you only typically fit 1/4 cup, limit yourself to that. It's not about -trying- to fit in more. If you start breaking the rules with amounts......then fluids with solids food......you're going to start fudging on all the guidelines and then you're gonna come on here asking why your not losing or worse......you are gaining again. Stop thinking you're getting away with something and stay on track.

Complications. Pulmonary Embolism, anyone?
Recycled replied to MrDel's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I didn't have a PE complications, but thanks for posting this thread. Even though they go over the risks for PE and tell us all about the steps to help prevent it........most tend to take it with a grain of salt figuring it'll never happen. I hope your doing better now. Let's hope the rest of your recovery is smoother. -
So I was a little "bad" this weekend...
Recycled replied to Mrs.RRn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I cry foul again with the ID. It must be fake, cause you don't look old enough to drink. -
So I was a little "bad" this weekend...

I wanna be there when you try to board a flight. They'll probably wrestle you to the ground as a terrorist using a phony ID. On second thought....maybe you better get a new pic. -
Not doing well at all :(
Recycled replied to Elaine Mackenzie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
All the rhetoric about eating right, making the right choices.....etc etc etc. are spot on.........But talk is cheap........ If you eat too much, you're gonna bust your staples and die!.........What??? To much reality for you. Then why did you get the surgery. They told you the limitations and hazards before. That's is the very reason why I had the surgery. I always ate too much. I couldn't control it. Now I always measure my food and don't eat any more than will fit (3 ounces) in my sleeve, or it will burst and I'll die.!!!! I believe it and I follow that guideline. That's my new control. At least until I lose the weight and and learn and adapt to better and healthier eating habits. I have listened to all the things people told me I was supposed to do before and it never worked. So I wanted a radical step that would force me to comply. I have had complications from surgeries in the past and I know how bad it can get, so I follow the guidelines to the letter to avoid any problems with my sleeve. And if I do things to cause those problems, I have no one to blame but myself. As was said above, maybe your recovery has been going smoothly and you think you can push the limits without any negative effects......??? With that attitude you could be gambling with your life. You need to get on board with your sleeve and buckle down to what's expected from you. Regret typically comes too late. Good Luck. -
Pre-op Diet Question..Why only Bariatic Advantage?
Recycled replied to bigloser2014's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's driven by the same thing everything is.......money. Of course they get a kick back. I went to some of my Doc's monthly support groups and the Bariatric nurse would even push various supplements and Vitamins in the sessions. It's a business and they try to squeeze every dime they can out of the process. I buy and use only products that I like and find are necessary.(usually the cheapest) & (Which are none of the stuff my Doc pushes) If I don't need it, I don't use it. -
Cover my eyes and ears.......That is just sacrilege to Pasta.

Wow, you've been thru the gauntlet. My guess is you're still getting rid of the fluids from the surgery. Give it a few more days......you'll see a significant drop. Doing some walking may spur on the losses.
-
Thanks.....I actually was kidding..... As you can see by my avatar, most of my cycling has a motor.
-
Yep, went to my spin class too.. wait......huh? how'd I get in this thread........what's a spin class........pay no attention to this post..............(I need to go splash some Water in my face)

1 Week Stall already!?
Recycled replied to butterfly2014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, when you're checking daily, it's gonna drive you nuts. I can gain a pound taking extra breaths of air and lose one walking to the mailbox. Better to check once a week or every few days. Stick with your plan and concentrate on the long term totals. -
Gas-X strips in Australia?
Recycled replied to Tigermouse74's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got the strips and they did nothing. I preferred the tabs. They chew up and go down just fine and seemed to work better. -
When I hit the gym, I can put away about 30 ounces of Protein drink in 60-90 minutes.

family support
Recycled replied to irisheyesrsmylng 1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your worrying too much. They're your family and even though they may express a lack of support now, after the surgery they will be there for you. They are just nervous about the risk and in their mind their attitude is justified as a means to keeping you safe. Just let them know this is something you want to improve your quality of life and even if they can't get onboard, it won't change how you feel about them. -
Premeire different at BJs
Recycled replied to Patoonces's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I have been using PP for months now. I did try the ones with the resealable caps once and while I did not notice them to be any thicker, I did feel the taste was completely different. I returned them and only get the ones from costco. -
I take it you mean....What do lactose intolerant people do? There are some that are not. Isopure Zero carb drinks to mention one.
