Impossible to pass water and puree down!
Recycled replied to SOL M. R.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You right. Sixteen days seems too long for it to still be causing you pain. That said.......this is not the place you need to be seeking the cause or medical advice. Call your doctor. Or better yet, go to the ER if you can't drink fluids. You do not want to become dehydrated. -
Day 3 of Pre-Op Diet...thinking, thinking, thinking
Recycled replied to erica_az's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds reasonable to me. Forget what my reason was......if you got this licked, you go for it. -
Weight at a stand still
Recycled replied to Amandasaouma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mix it up a bit. Jack the calories up to 1000 for a couple of days and then back down. Step up the cardio with the higher calories. And stop worrying. In fact, get used to it, stalls will re-occur lots more on the way to your goal. -
ten minutes..... really. You come out of it quick and are fairly alert and start mobility and walking right off. You will be tired and easily drift off to sleep for awhile but while awake, you shouldn't be in a fog.

I Crave You: The Voice of Seduction
Recycled replied to Prudence Ticknor's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Great Article, The whole "zen" thing is great, but a little outside my realm. I kinda go by the consequences thingy. When I was a kid there was Dad to administer the consequences of my wrongdoings. Now.....It's just that this is my last and final effort and I have worked too hard for every single lost pound and if I cheat or fail, there is the consequence of giving it all back. (and the whole.... I could die from obesity thing. ) -
Confused on how weight loss works
Recycled replied to browneyedgirl1981's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You wouldn't. When you're on liquids, you're gonna lose more than when to get to solid food. And when you get to goal and start maintenance you're not gonna lose anymore. That's pretty much it. -
Why gastric sleeve
Recycled replied to jarodnaaron's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here's the difference. You're not really hungry. You've just taught your brain that you need to keep eating due to the habit you created over the years. The sleeve will give you the time it takes to develop new habits of eating just what you need. Your body can get by just fine on the low calorie limited intake. It's the head hunger that is convincing you that you need more. All the sleeve is gonna do is limit what you eat. The rest is up to you. Can you outsmart it. If that is you intention, then sure, you can eat around the limits. The idea is to take advantage of the tool and use it to re-teach your brain. In order to do that, you have to be on board with both the desire and the discipline to succeed. -
It'll be IT when you see the bright light.......until then, get your butt moving. Is this it? It's just another stall. Try mixing up the calorie total. a couple of days at near 1200 and then do a few 800 days. Keeps the bod from getting used to a pattern. And don't fret a measly couple of pounds. I'll lose a couple and the next day they're back. ( it makes me laugh). Then a few days later, they're gone for good. Keep at it.

I know you're anxious waiting around for WLS, but I wouldn't make too big a deal about the Protein drinks pre-op. For one they taste awful and your taste for any particular one might change post-op anyway. Believe me, post-op is soon enough. Besides, I'm pretty sure you have to have a physician write a script for a condition that's covered by your insurance, like post-op recovery.

Finding an after-care physician
Recycled replied to Kimberly Saunders Moyer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most physicians understand the concept of WLS exclusions with insurance companies. And if they can't relate to the cost difference and the ability to afford surgery, well then....screw 'em. Besides, the surgeon doesn't really do much in the follow up department anyway. My only follow-up with the surgeon was at 2 weeks and amounted to about 3 minutes of greetings with a quick "you're doing great" and he vanished like a magic act. I did all my pre-op visits with my PCP and will continue to do any WLS follow -ups with him as well. I'm sure you could talk with your PCP about after care. -
Losing weight at an older age
Recycled replied to follmerpa's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey there youngster.... I take beta blockers and statin medication for atherosclerosis which have side effects of weight gain. However, I follow the guidelines and hit the gym several times a week and I haven't seen my age or the meds slow my loss. And while I have begun to enjoy the benefits of that ole saying about, "you're only as old as you feel". ...I must say though, it's quite unsettling to look in the mirror and realize I haven't actually reverted to 25. You'll do fine. -
If you are thinking about weight-loss surgery or waiting for a date I recommend
Recycled replied to jodyjetson's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nah..I'm too old to remember how to flirt......just ask my wife. . Just nice to see a kid with a smile. -
You're annoyed? Your stomach is still really pissed at what you did to it and that's it's way of telling you off. Seriously.....give it time and it will settle down.

Recycled replied to jodyjetson's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, this has nothing to do with this thread.....but it is advice for any other threads you may post. Make all of your threads happy topics, because your Avatar sets the mood straight away. Your Avatar is the happiest face I have seen on this entire forum and any attempt to start a sad or serious topic would be fruitless. When I click on such an enthusiastic smile, I'm anticipating reading about the the things that make you so happy. -
Just looking for some advice...
Recycled replied to ugtalvt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here's one tip you might keep in mind when it comes to drinking. Sitting around sipping on Water all day or trying to down some Protein Drink that tastes like soap, is next to impossible. However.......when you are thirsty.....I mean really thirsty, you will drink muddy water from a puddle in the street. Try doing exercise to the point of heavily sweating. It certainly makes me thirsty and I guzzle the Protein drinks as fast as I can get them down. Just food for thought. -
Just looking for some advice...
Recycled replied to ugtalvt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try logging your meals on MyFitnessPal or the like to keep closer track. Measure your food and only eat that measured amount. Don't worry about feeling full. Concentrate on very high Protein foods like fish. Maybe try some Protein Bars like Quest bars. And keep searching the various Protein Drinks until you find one you can tolerate. They make the whole getting enough protein think much more manageable. Examples- Premier Protein Shakes 30grams protein or Isopure Zero carb in the bottles. 20 ounces & 40 grams of protein. ( I usually cut the Isopure 50% with Water for taste) -

I now understand why so many kids are overweight nowadays....
Recycled replied to marfar7's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I chuckle over the irony that when I go to Wendy's, I still order the "large" Chili. Except now it's only the chili.....and I take it home and it provides three meals for me. -
just started my journey
Recycled replied to Big Guy357's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok....man to man.......The stomach pain is manageable - no biggie. You're gonna be on fluids for a couple of weeks.....Throw in some Protein shakes and blend stuff up and you're good to go. As far as when you get to solid foods. You can eat everything you did before......but.....you want to choose what you eat, opting for high protein first. Only so much fits into the sleeve and you want to put in there what keeps you healthly. Drink lots of fluids and you have to exercise. No gettin' around it......exercise will make all the difference. That pretty much sums it up. Piece of cake. You'll do fine. And you can always pop in here and ask about anything you're not sure of. Good luck -
85% convinced. How do I get to 100%?
Recycled replied to Tootles1975's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'll give you two. First you said you've been overweight since you were 10. And that you don't know if you ever considered yourself miserable being overweight. Miserable?? How about ecstatic? Energetic, Self confident, Happiest time in your life.......I could go on and on. You're entire adult life and a whole side of living yet to experience. Second, you might never get to experience that whole other side of life. I had a heat attack and it woke me up. It's time for you to wake up too. Good luck with your decision. -
The real kicker is when it becomes two bags of concrete at Home depot. Can't believe I could ever even stand up, much less walk around.

What tests need to be done after gastric sleeve surgery?
Recycled replied to elenasal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc gives me a script to get the blood drawn a week before the appointment, so I'll have the results to go over with him.
