Any you wonder why we can't pay attention...........My little head (first brain) has been in charge since I was 13. And now they say the gut is battling for a place in the hierarchy......... It's a wonder I can tie my shoes.....

4 weeks post op, needing help! :(
Recycled replied to itsjessica's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Actually, you're 3 weeks, not 4.....and while walking is great......adding in too much at the gym this early is not usually recommended. (you waited this long for the surgery...what's a couple of more weeks) And finally, I don't put a whole lot of credence in the "stick to the exact numbers" game.....especially from those that are not actually going thru or have already gone thru the process. (including nutritionists) Just get in what you can and take it easy. Keep you fluids up and don't worry too much right now about hitting specific numbers. You have plenty of time to adjust to what works for your specific body and routines. -
I'm 10 months since my surgery and I'm pretty sure my Doc said No mowing the lawn, emptying the garbage, washing the car, doing dishes or laundry or any physical anything for at least a year........maybe two.....yeah...that's the ticket....two years.....

The company's findings would be the last one's I would trust. Or you can contact the company directly Sorry, I didn't mean to curb your enthusiasm or derail the thread. Just wanted to interject a little food for thought. I actually hope the product is really effective for you. Heck, there is even data to show that substances can be effective if you believe in them enough, based on the placebo effect. And I'm for anything that gets the weight off.

The mag cit should work. Pinch your nose and take the whole bottle (I know it's gross) Then drink alot of Water after. ps; I should really add that Mag Cit works for me when other products didn't. I am not qualified to recommend it or suggest it will be effective for everyone. Hope you get some relief.

Ya know that term "apples to apples" ?? Well, that's how various companies out there get away with claims that just don't stand up to actual comparison. They make claims that are not actual side by side (apples to apples) comparisons. They claim how their products work differently and are therefore better and more effective with greater claims that aren't substantiated with actual independent data or research or any universally accepted labeling. Prime example as we all know......"diet pills" (not a single one actually works as claimed) I am always skeptical about any product's claims when there is considerable double talk about how differently their product is or works and yet they don't include actual side by side labeling or independent research to compare with other products. And while I certainly appreciate the individual reviews made by users of a product, I typically do not rely on those reviews as to whether a product is actually effective. At least not where the product's results are based in science and I have no idea of the reviewers credentials. Keep in mind people, we live in a society where the proverbial "disclaimer" is used in practically all aspects of our lives. It is meant to mislead. ie: "Information was obtained that suggests the person in custody actually committed the crime"........ (what information, from whom??? Suggests - not actual facts!! ) They don't have any actual facts, but it doesn't keep them from making unsubstantiated claims just to appear more knowledgeable. Here is a reply from another WLS site that throws out some valid points to consider....... "You cannot get 30 grams of Protein in a 15 gram serving. Not in our current universe. What they have done is process the crap out of whey protein, similar to how other failed companies have done in the past. The other companies failed because their claims were also bogus. They all revolve around a molecule they call a hexapeptide. The company throws around a lot of doubletalk, but you will not see a nutrition label the way you will on a reputable product. They have an asterisk next to the 30 gram figure that says "equivalent." That's because their 15 gram scoop only has 10 grams of whey protein. They claim it is "equivalent" to 30 grams of protein because their GENEPRO is absorbed three times better than "normal" whey protein. They have only their own marketing hype to make this claim. One of the things people seem to love about this product is that it dissolves so well compared to other whey powders. Well, duh. You are only dissolving 10 grams of whey, not 30, so of course it dissolves better. Take one third of your usual powder and see how well it dissolves. It will look like magic too.The other big problem with Genepro is that they claim to be absorbed in the upper part of the digestive tract. If you had RNY or DS this wouldn't do you any good.Unfortunately, people using this are thinking they are getting 30 grams of protein, when in reality they are getting only 10. That means the cost per gram is three times higher than you thought. Oh, and it could leave you malnourished to boot. As obese and formerly obese people, many of us have been victimized by fake science, false promises, and diets, gadgets and gizmos that don't work. There is no super food that will make us lose weight, and no super supplement that provides three times the nutrition that it possibly can." So.......does it work or not.....that is the question. I don't know. I'm just playing the devil's advocate here. Good luck

Relax, you're close. More importantly, start slow. Don't overdo it. Take my word for it, you will improve very rapidly. Just don't get too enthusiastic and end up sidelined with an injury.

Whey protein tablets from hemopro
Recycled replied to Sleevedmommy28's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I read the label on these and correct me if I'm wrong, but it says 5 pills per serving and a serving is 5 grams of Protein. Not 5 grams per pill. Am I missing something? -
I need a good sugar free Popsicle
Recycled replied to Elode's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also didn't care for the taste of the sugar free popcicles either. So I bought some popcicle molds and made my own. You'll have to experiment for taste. Turns out, after a few times, I developed a taste for my more tart type popcicles. I blend up frozen strawberries, blueberries and bananas with some pomegranate vita Water added. No sugar or any type artificial sweeteners. Put them in the molds and 'viola. (peel and cut the bananas into small pieces before you freeze them.....works better in the blender) -
You've pretty much got my same stats. I can tell you it will be a hard effort. The weight is not just going to fall off. Stick very close to your guidelines for the first few weeks and then when you're cleared for workouts and all foods, get in as much liquids and Protein as you can each day. And casual walks won't do it either. I go to the gym and spend about one and a half hours each time with pretty vigorous workouts. It will be slow at first, seeming like your bod is in horrible shape..(which it is) but you will improve rapidly. Actually very fast. It's quite remarkable how quickly you will build strength and stamina. Each session will be an encouragement for the next. I find that even with eating lots of meats and fish, I still need to add in a couple of protein supplements each day to reach my goals. Throw in a shake or two and maybe a power bar and you will get there. Don't fret the stalls as they are just the body trying to salvage body mass as you lose. I usually bounce the calories up & down a little to throw the metabo- off and the stalls break. As long as you stay on course the weight will continue to come off. After about the 6 month mark, it will slow down and you will have to step things up a bit to keep losing. Keep in mind then......you are building muscle and it weighs more than the fat. So if you don' appear to be losing pounds.....you're probably losing inches and gaining more muscle. Good luck with your journey.

Knee Replacement after Sleeve
Recycled replied to 3in1wOL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, but why do they think it will slow you weight loss. I can think of no reason. I lost over 40 lbs after my first TKR because I was not that hungry. I still walked from the first day of Surgery and every day after, so you will get exercise. It it were me, I would get it out of the way. I see no reason why you couldn't recover from both at the same time. Just my non- medical opinion based on my experiences with both surgeries. -
Knee Replacement after Sleeve
Recycled replied to 3in1wOL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mine done quite a while before my sleeve and the only issue I can conclude that would interfere would be your ability to do rigorous exercises. What did they give for reasons you should delay the TKRs. -
@@TEXASLADY52 said: I cannot tolerate the sweet and I have never liked sweet drinks. Even the Greek Yogurt has tons of sugar in it. What I found is: Genepro http://www.musclegen.net/ .... this is oderless and tasteless and does not clump. You can add it to hot or cold....or just sprinkle over your food. This stuff is great. One tablespoon equals a scoop of whey and has 30 grams of Protein. It is approved by John Hopkins and has 96% absorbtion. You can also order it from Amazon. I fix a Crystal Light and a scoop. I understand you can contact the website and they will send you a sample? ______________________________________________________________________________ note: Ok, women, this is a "guys" thread and /or question please. So unless you're trying out for women's bodybuilding championships, how it works with you is not what I'm looking for......but thanks anyway. Saw this in another thread and it really impressed me. Have any of you "Men" used this product and if you have, what is your take on it? Results ?? Does it have any medical warnings or restrictions? What about side effects? Taste? etc.etc. Companies are always making outrageous claims and rarely deliver. Although the original poster of this product does tout it's desirability, she is female and I do believe men and women have vastly different guidelines and goals when it comes to supplements, workouts and body muscle etc. Additionally if you haven't used this particular product but are using a different one that provides substantial protein gains with similar properties.....please speak up and let us know.

Feeling discouraged... Any advice, experiences, kind words welcome.

This pretty much sums it up. It's impossible. While trying not beat a dead horse, there is just no way you are getting the correct interpretation of the requirements. Dig further. -
One week before surgery...getting really nervous
Recycled replied to Lesile65's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Try thinking or obsessing a little differently..... Like strengthening your resolve to follow all the guidelines to get the best possible outcome. Think about being anxious to begin exercising as you lose weight to regain better health. How to shop for more healthly foods, how to cook or prepare those small, high Protein meals. Concentrate on what lies ahead that is in you power to succeed. Leave the surgery and any issues that might arise, unlikey as they might be..... to the professionals. They are prepared and capable of handling whatever arises. And you are too. Relax, You'll be fine. -

I don't want to rain on your parade, but with only that supposed 1 pound margin, you might not want to rely on the adjusting you weight idea. Different scales tend to read differently. Unless you know exactly what your doc scale reads in comparison to yours, you could sabotage yourself. I would definitely look into that unreasonable 1 pound margin stuff. Sounds totally unreasonable . -
Good call. Try to relax and not worry too much. It's always advised to contact your doc when you need definitive answers. The fist few days always works on the nerves a little. Here's hoping it's nothing to be concerned about.

Vegetables (not protein) first
Recycled replied to WL WARRIOR's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I try to keep my "Mantras" simple...... Before surgery (and most of my adult life) it was - "life is uncertain - Eat dessert first" (wow, big surprise, huh) Now after surgery it's - "Protein first" Why ??? Because it seems mother nature in her continued effort to make my life a joke has decided to go after whatever little muscle I may have instead of the mountains of fat I want to get rid of........and protein is supposed to help prevent that. So, in attempting to get in anywhere close to the amount of protein needed to help provide nourishment to my delicate remaining muscles, while only able to fit in 3-4 ounces of food......well....you do the math. -
Hmmmmm, five days huh..... And thats all you've noticed ?? Relax....probably just gas. Or could be a "full" trigger. Or you bod just letting you know it's pissed off you did all that trama to it...... You're gonna notice alot of different noises, aches, various pains etc. for awhile as you heal and adjust. Unless it persists or gets worse, just give it time and it will probably pass.

Isopure clear protein drinks
Recycled replied to VSGfor150's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I have yet to find any supplements that taste like the flavor or the picture on the label........drink or power bar. That being said, I do use the Quest bars (mostly cookies-n-cream) and the Isopure drinks (glass bottles). I primarily use the drinks when I go to the gym and put them in my Water bottle with alot of ice. I'm usually so thirsty, I guzzle them without paying much attention to the taste. Still there are only a few I can tolerate. The Apple melon, the fruit punch, etc. You'll just have to try each flavor. Sometimes I just have to cut them 50% with water which helps with the taste. As you said, it's still 20 grams of Protein, which is great. -
