It's invaluable to keep you on track....I track everything I eat and drink on there...... -
I just had a small Omaha filet mignon with shrimp scampi and Italian herb veggies & rice. Over 38 grams of protein. About 5.5 ounces total. You can stop calculating....I also threw in a half scoop of Genepro protein powder.

Nope, no salt added.

"Wearing Pro" is the brand. It's a cheap plastic unit, but it works pretty good. ($49) Comes with a little recipe booklet that tells you what ingredients you need for the marinades. I was eating a lot of store bought brands that were pretty expensive and quite a bit of every bag tended to be stale. This jerky is really good and very high in Protein. If I get good at it, I may invest later in a better dehydrator, but this one works fine for now. http://www.bjs.com/waring-pro-5-tray-food-dehydrator.product.279853

I picked up a dehydrator at BJ's and I make my own beef, turkey and chicken Jerky along with dehydrated apples, bananas and many other fruits. Tastes great, and great for Snacks. I'm experimenting at the present, so I expect I use it for many more items to come.

Second Guessing my decision for surgery
Recycled replied to ojibway's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Toemato, Tamato --- You're worried about your health after the surgery.....I was worried about my health if I didn't get the surgery. For me the after part was a maybe.....but the risks of health issues or even death without it, were pretty much guaranteed. And finally, if you didn't have some concerns or second....and third and forth and fifth "guessing" your decision....... you wouldn't be normal. You'll pretty much be mulling it over right up to the "count backwards from 100" in the OR. Good luck -
EEK! Has anyone spoken at a WLS Seminar? Need your advice!
Recycled replied to skinnygirlwithin's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You find it easy to speak on here. And once you get started and see the interest from those attending the seminar, you will relax and enjoy the interaction. , The feedback from actual patients in my opinion is the most valuable. I know it was for me. I have been asked to speak several times and each time I just go in with some pics I gathered and ad lib the entire presentation. Nothing planned.....just recall my experiences. And while at first your might seem apprehensive or embarrassed to show such revealing pics to strangers .....all they will notice is your confidence and seeing the expression of joy on your face from your accomplishment. This is what everyone seeking this step needs. Go for it. You will surely enjoy the opportunity and the audience with benefit greatly. -
How many incisions (holes) did you have?
Recycled replied to Tashabella's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
5 here -
Well, 100g is not really excessive, but you do need to be aware of the calories and other nutrients your consuming along with the Protein. It would be easy to exceed your daily recommended caloric intake. As a male and with the desire to retain and build more muscle along the way, I try to do at least 100g protein a day and typically get in over 150g. I know of bodybuilders that strive for the 400+ range. Just saying......

How to deal with fat friends
Recycled replied to built2livenotexist's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I must've missed something along the way....... My weight loss was in fact from my diet and exercise. And unless there has been some new development in biology......so is everybody else's. Granted, the sleeve does help dramatically with portion control and some temporary hunger, but ultimately it's what foods......and how much food you eat along with exercise, that is responsible for losing the weight. So you say then why didn't I lose weight before the sleeve, with diet and exercise? I always did.....and I always went back to eating larger portions and unhealthy foods and stopped exercising as I got larger .......ergo....unable to maintain diet and exercise. The surgery is not magic. It's still all about diet and exercise. I just now have the added benefit of portion control to help me long enough to develop healthy eating habits. And I am not the least bit ashamed of admitting to having the surgery or the fact that the age old method of diet and exercise is still what is responsible for my weight loss. -
My formula for the Puree stage was Blender = Puree..... Throw some chicken soap in the Blendtec and Voila..... high Protein puree. Just don't spend too much time looking at it - yuk. Still.....it tastes great. Everything puree's

I think you need to fill that glass a little more than half way so you can lean toward the side of " the glass half full". You're just putting way too much negative thought into this. Fear of the unknown is the biggest factor in being scared. Read as much as you can about the surgery and the success stories on here. Go to a bariatric support group meeting and talk to those that have been trough it. If they can do it, you can too. And the rewards are life changing. Think about that. Keep asking questions and getting informed. You'll do fine.

How long til incisions heal?
Recycled replied to EllieMae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say......more than 3 days. If it hurts, take your pain pills until it doesn't. I'd say average healing time for the pain to subside, is about a week. But then again everybody's different. Well, now that I've provided absolutely no beneficial information.....you can carry on.... -
In sitting Pre-op hell....
Recycled replied to Seashelles's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Seashelles, on 06 Nov 2014 - 09:39, said: I even started to get depressed about how after surgery I will not be able to eat. one of my main problems is portion control. I am just depressed over the fact that I spent most of the first week cheating and now I have to try to make up for it. I just dont really know how... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Relax......you're doing a lot of worrying about yet unknowns......That is what fear is. You're having trouble with the preop now because it's cold turkey and there are no changes yet to help you make or stick with those drastic pre-op diet changes. Portion control is going to be handled by the sleeve. So that one is taken care of. And about "not being able to eat". You're the only one putting that idea in your head. After your sleeve heals, you will be able to eat pretty much whatever you want. Some tastes will change and you will develop new healthier eating habits.....but you will still be able to get all the satisfaction and enjoyment from the taste of the food as you do now. You needs will change with your lifestyle and you won't miss anything. OK, that solves those concerns....now perk up and stop creating issues where there are none...... Good luck -
What size is your sleeve?
Recycled replied to Jennifer Rogers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What size is your sleeve? Well.....last time I looked in there it seemed to be about a blah blah blah...... I have no idea. My Doc could tell me he used a Filipino 36-24-36 and I wouldn't know the difference or be able to do anything about it. Can I eat as much as before??? Hardly. Do I fill up quick?. Yep. Did it get rid of that "ghrenlin" hunger guy.....? For the most part, yes. Well then, I'm satisfied..... next question. -
Your scale is broken. !! No, really.....it's what everybody said....give it time. Pretty soon you will be looking back in amazement on the journey as a whole...... and not remember any the the daily concerns....

How to deal with fat friends
Recycled replied to built2livenotexist's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's been my experience they are not gonna fit your new lifestyle. So unless they become interested in learning how you are acheiving your weight loss success.....and decide to make their own changes, your're going to have to look to new circles of friends. Not to say you abandon your besties. You just need to have people around you that empower you to maintain your new lifestyle. -

typically within a couple of hours.... -
Try to use drinks that are high in Protein. ie: Isopure Zero carb - 20 oz. / 40 gm protein. Premier Protein shakes - 11 0z/ 30 gm protein. Also carry a Water bottle around everywhere and drink all day long every chance you get. Plus there's always get out and do some exercise.....walk, ride a bike, whatever.....it makes you more thirsty and you'll drink more.

Logging food after eating out
Recycled replied to Jennifer Rogers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Relax, it's not like medicine dosages or anything. Just get it close. Guess the weight, light, dark, skinless, no creamy dressings etc etc. A few grams of seasoning is not gonna make a big difference. You're doing it right stayin away from the fried breading and the unhealthy sides. In this case, close is good enough. -
