At the beginning you'll have what may seem to be important expectations that may be of concern to you....ie: loose skin....etc. but as time goes on, you'll simply enjoy your new emerging body and energy and will just adapt to whatever little imperfections linger along the way. With 150 lbs to lose and having been obese for quite a while, it's likely that losing rather quickly will result in some loose skin. I have lost 120 in a year and made the gym and exercise my main staple during the whole process and there still is some loose skin. It bother's me enough that I'm self conscious in a bathing suit (or naked) but it is easily concealed with clothes. And with clothes I look completely normal and feel fantastic. Getting a tummy tuck or some form of plastic surgery is on my bucket list, but not a priority for the immediate future. I'm too busy enjoying my new bod and the things I can do with it..... In other words........it'll be what it will be and you won't care so much then.....so stop worrying.... Your right about us guys not puttin' many pics......I'll try and take some before'n'after and post them, but don't hold your breath.

Drink it now cause you never know. I drank lots of skim milk before my surgery. Then, for reasons unknown after, I could not tolerate it. I tried, but it just quite agree with me. Guess I suddenly became lactose intolerant. (Even with skim) So now I drink Smart Balance Lactose free, fat free milk and it's OK. I know, I know.... long story and who cares........Just saying ya never know what little crazy things might change.

OK, unless you're related to that stretchy rubber guy on "FantasticFour" the after shots are not going to be pretty. But that is fixable. But you will be healthy.....an obviously much more important priority, right?

Postop: racing pulse and/or feeling of High Bp
Recycled replied to crysclev's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Then knock it off......what are you doing eating sweets anyway.... -
Ok, I get ya....... The first few months, I could only fit about 3 ounces......now, a year out, I fit about 6. Even at six ounces there is absolute notable restriction. (I am reminded immediately if I fudge it). I'm no expert, but I don't think it's stretching as much as it heals and relaxes more than in the first few months.

Pre-op Questions I'm Pondering (I Need YOUR Input)
Recycled replied to His Fairest's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1. YES 2. As time goes on, I have to remind myself I actually had the surgery. My worries about what would change were unfounded. -
All the stats don't really mean much. In the end it's gonna be up to you. My surgery helped me to get the bulk of my weight off very quickly, then seemed to slow to a halt. However, It got me.....no, that's incorrect..... I got me that far.....And there is no reason I can't get all the way to where I really want to be. You can too. The process will help you develop the habits to eat and exercise and lose or maintain your weight much better than anything before ever worked.. Just use those methods and new habits to accomplish whatever weight you choose. Good luck
-
If you use them.......they will work.!! Doesn't matter, just do it. Whatever you can, as often as you can.

Try more Protein based foods. They maintain the feeling of fullness longer. How fast can you stretch your stomach????? This should not be something you need an answer to.......try to think of it as "under no circumstances do you want to do anything to stretch your sleeve." That is the primary reason I got the surgery. Bottom line --- I eat alot less due to the tiny sleeve and "any overeating by me could damage the sleeve and cause me all kinds of complications" (ie: fearfactor) Works for me. In other words, I needed something to force me to comply with what was needed to stay on track. And the danger of causing complications does the trick. So, stop looking for escape routes and just stick to the guidelines and you'll be fine......no, you'll be better then fine......you'll be a healthy, smaller, more svelte you.......Good luck

I failed myself yet again...
Recycled replied to JerseyJules's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, five pages of you did the right thing or not.......Hey dude, it's not for you. We get it. It's really only your choice, so good luck with your future. Now.......back to those that are getting it........ Oh, and BTW......I got it done and didn't die...... -
What really irritates me about MFP is that 5 week projection of your weight when you close it out each day.........I even started doing my bike riding every day to see if maintaining the same exercise would get me any where close to the results it projects.......ehhh.......didn't happen. Typical bogus propaganda. I still like keeping track by logging everything, but for me, losing the weight just takes a lot longer than their figures.

I could actually stop right now as I am in size 34 pants which I haven't been in since High School and really never figured I ever see again. However, I still have what I call a bicycle tire (no more car spare tire) around my waist and I want to keep trying to get rid of it. It is mostly loose skin and will probably take plastics to remove, but what can it hurt. I lost most of my weight in the first 6 months as well, then I began hitting stalls or maybe just developed more muscle which slowed my actual weight lost considerably. The inches kept going down, just not the weight as quickly. I average about a pound a week if I'm lucky. I even went over 6 weeks with no weight loss, then lost 4 in three days. Go figure. Whatever, the pants just keep getting looser, so I'll take it as progress and to hell with the scale. I'm just using a goal of 195 lbs to challenge me to reach it, which makes me have to work harder.......which gets me in better shape.........it's all a win win. Besides I really want to see "onederland"

Need to hit my goal!
Recycled replied to MsBeautyB4&After's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stick with it......It has taken me just as long to lose my last twenty pounds as the first 100. The stalls get longer and the effort to lose the last few gets harder. Step up your exercises......mix things up a bit, so your bod doesn't get used to things too much and stay at it.....You'll get there. We both will...... -
Hit My First Stall and It Sucks
Recycled replied to mnmlst's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's what comes from getting used to our "right now" modern ways. Don't let the stall get to you. Trust in the "FACT" that if you stick with your program, you will resume losing and you will get to your goal......eventually. As in.....be patient. Look at is like alot of little triumphs......Each time you're pissed and frustrated when the stalls happen.....but then it feels great to see the weight start coming off again. -

Odd food question.
Recycled replied to catlover2565's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Odd will be your new normal...... I used to put some tea in my glass of sugar......now I drink totally unsweetened tea & it tastes sweet to me.....hmmmm...odd. but it works for me -
I'd have to say that after sulking around in the background for so long because of obesity, I intend to get out and socialize more.
-
You know how to get the weight off.......so do what you have to do to get that 15lbs back off and then set a Zero tolerance barrier of no more then say.......2 pound leeway. - You see two pounds creep in....get it off right away. Don't let it slide.

Didn't Tell Work. Now It's a Problem! Calling All With Knowlege of HIPPA!
Recycled replied to sukik's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Maybe you can't stop 'em from putting the question on some form but...... Even though it is a health form, It was not an illness. It was elective and it's none of their business......I'd leave it blank. -
Too Small For Surgery
Recycled replied to FOXYLADYA's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OK, this is a easy one. If you're sure this is what you want........then Go to a different Nutritionists. -
As we all know, food comes in all shapes and sizes......and tastes (and numbers). It's all still "food" Now, of course, the trick is.....how much. No, you're not gonna gain weight......(that is as long as it was only one you popped one...and not the whole platter.) The deal is to try to monitor the "what" and the how much of the "what" as in counting all the nutrition values etc. As many others have suggested, I have used MyFitnessPal since my pre-op diet......Every day, every single thing that goes in my mouth. In maintaining daily goals, you'll learn to make better choices. Teeny amounts of useless, high calorie, low protein junk, just won't cut it anymore. So, don't fret the occasional venture to the "dark side" .........it's all part of the learning process.

Anyone else on Testosterone Replacement Therapy?
Recycled replied to kenb79's topic in The Guys’ Room
First, it's not my statement. I'm, by no means qualified. Second, I went to my PCP and had all the tests done and was using prescribed injections and monitored for replacement therapy. However, in a debate between my PCP or Endocrinologist and my Cardiologist........the Cardiologist wins every time. But hey, that's just me, and my needs might surely be different from others. To each their own. -

Anyone else on Testosterone Replacement Therapy?
Recycled replied to kenb79's topic in The Guys’ Room
I was using it until my Cardiologist heard about it and demanded I get off of it. Subsequently, I have read and heard a lot of data that warns of very severe side effects, including death. Be careful.......
