Web page for SPOUSES?
Pixie Dust replied to AutismMom's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My husband didn't want me to have the surgery until he educated himself on it. He works for BCBS so he did all the inquiries on it & found it to be a safe surgery & certainly safer than me staying at this body weight. So after he was educated, he not only approved but he's my biggest supporter! I don't know if I could go thru something this drastic without his blessings. I really don't. Especially since he's only one of 3 I've told! -
This is going to be something we will all have to work hard on getting over. You're just so lucky that you haven't had any tummy issues with the bites here & there. Forgive yourself & move on. Don't get caught in that cycle again, you took such a drastic step to help yourself, why sabotage yourself post sleeve? In fact, I just got up from my computer & went to my pantry where I have a bunch of junk my kids eat & I was looking at what I could have. Am I hungry? NO! In fact, I'm full! But it's probably nothing more than habit ~ so I shut the pantry door & walked away saying out loud "you've got to stop this NOW!" Lets hope I listen to myself the next time I do that! Can you attend a support group meeting? That's what I"m going to have to do...weekly if not more!

When do we stop losing weight
Pixie Dust replied to minnie78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gosh, 45 lbs in 3 months sure sounds good to me! Had you ever lost that much weight prior to surgery in a 3 month time frame? I know I haven't. I'm not sleeved yet but maybe adding exercise or changing up your diet might help from all the other posts I've read. Of course, when I'm standing in your shoes, please remind me of this post because I'll be freaking out too....& won't remember how sweet it was to lose 45 lbs in 3 months! Hang in there! -

I'm dying to see your picture! Not showing up in either of your posts? -
My dad dying did it for me! And now my mom nominated me for a contest!

When I clicked on the link, it took me directly to the pic of her & her mom with clown make up on (or something like that). They looked so cute! -

Tiffany, God bless your little heart & I'm so very sorry on the passing of your Dad. I think this is such a brave thing you're doing & I'm sure your entire family is so proud of you! I'd like to vote for you too, & while I do have a facebook account, I don't want to let this company access my account or my friends list (which you have to agree to before you can vote.) So I'm with the gorgeous LI Gemini NY, I'd like to vote for you but would like to know if there is any other way? -
Dr. Randall Baker - McLaren Northern Michigan (Petoskey)
Pixie Dust replied to cls8402's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I just want to say that I absolutely **LOVE** Petoskey! I live in South Eastern MI, in a Detroit suburb & I absolutely HATE HATE HATE it here, but we will have to live here for now. Petoskey is a gorgeous area & if I lived there, I would feel like I was on vacation everyday! I know that had absolutely nothing to do with being sleeved, haha.....but I just had to speak my peace! So glad you were pleased with your surgeon & surgery! (There, I added a "sleeve" piece to my message!) -
Congratulations & good luck!!

Well then, I must be crazy too because I've been thinking the same thing! LOL! Not sure when I want to do it tho....
-
I worry about this too because I'm the cook (hubby learned how to toast bread in a regular toaster a little more than a year ago ~ seriously) & I have 2 kids too that are used to a meat/starch/veggie every night! EEK! My husband says the first few days post-op, he'll just take the kids for subway or pick up chinese or taco bell. While I hate them eating junk, I don't think I'll mind just being a few days post-op!

How much ricotta cheese do you use?
-
Ditto! Only my sizes will start from 26/28! I have some cute things that I bought for my honeymoon (19 years ago tomorrow in fact) which I never got to wear & some things even still have the price tags on them! So I am hoping to fit back into those clothes! Actually, I've even been having dreams of seeing myself in those smaller sized clothes too! It just makes me so happy!! Lets hope I don't freak out when I get a sleeve date! LOL!

1st Day of 2 week preop diet
Pixie Dust replied to Dreax33's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know what you mean about you don't know what to do & trying to distract yourself, food comes to mind....it's because our lives revolve around food! I know I'll have the same issue. It's not till after we get sleeved & start losing weight that we'll realize there is more to life than planning everything around food! At least I hope it will be the case for me. I wake up thinking what I'm going to make for dinner for my family & I. I have breakfast first thing in the morning & then a few hours later I'm having lunch & then a snack at 3-330p & then I'm nibbling on stuff as I'm cooking. I need to start thinking like a skinny person. They do think "differently" than we do, you know! LOL! Good luck to you sweetie...I'll be on that same road as you pretty soon! -
Excuse me, I seem to have misplaced 100 pounds...

That's just fabulous!! Congratulations & keep it up (or bring it down??!!) LOL!! -
Two months out before/after
Pixie Dust replied to kooks3003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! You look amazing!!! May I ask, how much did you weigh pre-op? -
My respect for Dr. Carlin couldn't out weigh the horrible experience I had at HF, so after much consideration, I made an appt at Beaumont & started the process with them last week. Luckily I won't have to re-do any of the tests I already did thru HF. I will pop in from time to time to let you know how things are moving along but it sounds like I may still be able to have summer surgery, which was my wish. Sorry I messed up on your weight loss but you're still moving along quite rapidly! Blessings to you as well!

My heart goes out to both of you. I'm so sorry you are both in miserable marriages. In fact, this weekend, my husband & I are celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary & I love him even more today than the day I married him & vice versa. He's a saint & sometimes I don't feel worthy of him but he makes me feel beautiful even tho I'm currently nearly 300 lbs. & he's so kind to me & to others & he's the greatest dad! I wish everyone to marry a man like him. In being so grateful for the man that God put in my life, makes me feel awful when I hear about how miserable some marriages are. If my husband & I were facing issues like you both, we would definitely try counseling prior to walking away from the marriage, but with all that said, at least you are both getting healthy & thinner so that whatever comes your way, you know you have the strength to deal with it after all you've been thru with the sleeve! I wish you both the best. We only get one go-around, so do what you need to do to find happiness. Life is too short to be miserable. My advice would be to finish one relationship before jumping into the next. God bless you both!

That's so wonderful!!! I don't think at this point I could run to save my life! haha! You look great in your profile before & after pics! Can't believe you've lost 200 lbs in 6 months!! Can you even believe it when you look in the mirror?? That's so awesome! God bless you!! I do remember now reading a post of yours & that you had Dr. Carlin. I met him recently & I would have loved for him to do my surgery but I was so turned off by my experience at HF that I'm going elsewhere now. Hope the doc at the new hospital will impress me as much as Dr. Carlin did.

So, I've got a conundrum about Prilosec...
Pixie Dust replied to LipstickLady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hate taking prescriptions too but I will take whatever the doc orders after my sleeve. There's a reason they write out scripts for us especially after being sleeved. Probably just helps to keep your stomach in check. -
Why are so many people disappointed when they "only lose" this and that much weight?
Pixie Dust replied to Sweetcarol238's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm a pre-sleever & I do get excited when I read about those that lose an enormous amount of weight in a short period of time but that's more than likely because they were heavier. I do remember the (many) times I was on Weight Watchers & after a week, I'd lose 1 or 2 lbs & was disappointed....until my Leader would remind me that I should picture 4 sticks of butter instead of just saying "one pound." He'd say visualize a pound & then when I did, it did seem like I did okay. So people just have a visual idea of themselves dropping all the weight in such a short period of time but truthfully, we all have our own timeline due to our bodies/age/weight & how hard we try & how much we move. Weight loss is an individual thing as far as I'm concerned. What I don't understand (with all due respect) is why someone gets so upset over other people's threads? Maybe someone is just looking for some encouragement or just to hear from others that are losing at the same rate, so that they don't think they are the "ONLY" ones losing slower at one point or another? I mean, I've not been on this forum that long but I keep re-reading the same posts about those that hit a stall & they're freaking out but it seems EVERYONE hits a stall around the 3 month mark. So I know this in my head but when it comes to my turn, it may freak me out. I just think we all need to be kinder to one another. Period. If one doesn't have any words of encouragement (over & over & over & over) for a new sleever who feels they are a failure, then just ignore the thread & move on. People with weight issues normally suffer from lots of insecurities so it's probably normal for someone to feel they aren't losing fast enough...I don't know...I'm not a psych but just sayin', give your fellow man a hand or just move on if you can't. IDK, I just see a lack of compassion nowadays with everyone. What ever happened to that? It's nice to come to a forum where you can talk about your personal disappointments or fears. People who haven't been sleeved won't understand the fear some people are facing when they post their issues here. Anyway, not meaning to criticize the OP but honestly, if a thread bothers you, just skip it. Peace Out. -

Pixie Dust replied to newlife27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad that's behind you now! Wonder why they made you go thru that? Did they suspect you suffered from Sleep Apnea or is it just one of those hoop jumping tests that are mandated by your Bariatric Program? -

Pixie Dust replied to newlife27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh you poor sweetie!!! How do they expect anyone to sleep like that???! That's crazy! Well, just do the best you can. You're already there & hooked up. Hopefully you don't have to go to work tomorrow so you can sleep once you get home, cause for the life of me, I have no clue how you'll sleep with all those wires all over. I'm so glad I don't have to go thru that either! I barely sleep when we go on vacation because I'm not in my own bed! LOL! -

Pixie Dust replied to newlife27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck to you NewLife! I thought I'd have to go but they just asked me if anyone has heard me snore but my husband says no, unless I'm sick, then he hears me snore. They also had me fill out this little questionnaire & the score said I probably don't suffer from sleep apnea. Hope not! But I guess they just want to be sure with you. Hope it all turns out well & that you'll sleep like a baby!
