my 1st NSV : went to the beach today
Pixie Dust replied to Damaris67's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That's awesome! I haven't been to the beach since dinosaurs roamed the earth & I think I'm too old now to do so but I get happy hearing of other people experiencing joy! -
I feel your pain Corvette! I'm still having that one cup in the morning but I know soon enough, that will be taken away from me too. I'm not going without kicking & screaming too! I love DD as well as Gevalia. But maybe one day down the road, we'll be reunited again & it will be a heavenly experience (maybe?) LOL! I just hope I won't be too hard to live with, like I was when I gave up smoking many years ago. Good luck to you! Please keep us informed of your journey!

Oh please keep sharing!! Gives people that haven't been sleeved yet, & that are nervous about it, some HOPE! Congratulations to you!!

"Practice" Liquid Diet
Pixie Dust replied to karpouzian's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From what I've heard, if you starve yourself of carbs, your sugar will spike as well. I don't know if it's true or not but that could be the case. Try not to freak out until you hear from a doctor what your outcome will be. It isn't helping your sugar level any being so stressed. Just take it as it comes...if you have to wait (but hopefully not) a short while to get your sugar under control. I really feel for you & wish you the best. By the way, I guess I never thought of it but if I wasn't eating, I probably wouldn't be drinking! Oh noooooo.......so it will be hard for me to get my Water in! I kept thinking that it would be a piece of proverbial cake (with no sugar/carbs/calories) but probably not! Thanks for stressing me out now! -
Have not been on in a while.

Worried about my blood sugar delaying surgery :(
Pixie Dust replied to karpouzian's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess you do realize that having your sugar in check is only for your safety during surgery. With that said, don't sweat it. I always get nervous when it's time for an A1C check & I always do well & I've even had a plate of Pasta or some ice cream within the 3 months of my testing! I don't even check my sugar because it would cause my #'s to go up if I read them each day! LOL! I just pretty much know what to stay away from, have a slip up now & then but overall, my numbers always come back 6.0 or below. Good luck to you & be brave! Don't make your #'s climb just by being overly nervous or anxious. Everything (I'm told) affects your A1C. -
Your A1C was 9.0? Hmm...my doc has a fit if mine is anything over 6.0? I'm confused? He has me on Glumetza 500 mg a day & since I've been testing at anywhere between 5.5 to 6.0, he said he would take me off my meds if I lost at least 20-25 lbs. That was last year sometime...in the meantime, my A1C is still in the high 5's or right at 6.0 & now I've decided to have the sleeve. I'm actually confused as to what protein drinks will do to me if the carb counts are high? Thank you for bringing this up as I will need to ask my doctor about all this!

Congratulations on getting a date!! I know what you mean, just like the bible, I feel I need to read a few lines here every day too! Good luck to you!

BINDER AFTER SURGERY
Pixie Dust replied to thinnerdaysahead's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Where do you get them? I don't think my hospital/program will be giving me one of those, if so, they've not mentioned it yet. -

You look very pretty! How exciting is it to lose all that weight?! I hope to find out soon enough!! -
Im home...now what?
Pixie Dust replied to AutismMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you! Okay, didn't know the name of it but the first facility I was at for their WLS program showed that to me. I guess I didn't know the name of it. Then I switched facilities mid-stream & they've neve mentioned it. Sounds important! Thanks, at least I hope to remember to ask about that next visit! -

If I may ask, what's a spirometer? -
Congratulations to you Holly! 90 pounds is something definitely worthy of a celebration! Will you please share with me what's been the hard part? I'm not sleeved yet so trying to gather all the info I can. I do meet with the surgeon on Monday tho, so it could be soon!

VSG = CHEAP drunk?! lololol
Pixie Dust replied to skinnywithin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can relate only because I don't drink at all. No reason, but just don't. Well last Christmas we were at friends & they offered me a rum & coke & I accepted only said "easy on the rum." I saw my host pour mostly coke in the glass & just a tiny bit of rum. Didn't take but 1/2 glass & I was buzzzzzzzzzing big time! LOL! So yeah, I can understand it & do find it funny, especially since in my case, I was as big as the men in that room! LOL! I doubt I'll drink anything like that after being sleeved tho because I might do something really stupid, like take my clothes off or worse, start singing! LOL! -
That's a GREAT NSV!!!

I used to live in Baldwin Park & I'd drive to meet you but now I'm no longer living in paradise. -
Good question! I'll be looking to see what others have responded as I too would like to get ready slowly, even tho I don't have a surgery date yet (but I will be meeting with my surgeon on Monday! Woo Hoo!!)

Bed, Bath & Beyond has all types of bathroom scales (all diff prices ranges too). The nice thing is that if you're not happy with it, they will take it back, no questions asked. They have a great return policy. I just bought a scale yesterday from costco. I was looking for inexpensive & it was $19.99. Here it is on Amazon but for a bit more: http://www.amazon.com/Taylor-Digital-Strong-Tempered-Display/dp/B00A2C8NQ4 It weighed me at exactly what I weighed at the Weight Loss Clinic I went to yesterday. Doesn't measure body fat tho.

I haven't had food dreams but I've had dreams where I'm wearing clothes from the early 90's (the last time I was a fairly normal size)! Funny thing is that I do still have them & I keep saying that I'm going to get into them one day when I do get sleeved & lose the weight! I have to say, it was nice to see me in the pretty (cocktail type) dress I wore for my 2nd wedding reception (got married in MI but lived in CA at the time, so had another party in CA after returning from my MI wedding.)

Feel like a failure :(

That's good to know, I love PB! What I'd like to know is if there are any that taste like lasagna or chicken parm or pizza? If so, tell me where & I'll be headed there in 5!
