I'm getting sleeved tomorrow...
Pixie Dust replied to NoMoreDonuts's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Good luck to you tomorrow! You'll be fine. Be sure to keep us posted! -
I've heard that if you mix cheese into your egg as you're scrambling it in the pan, the egg comes out softer so it's easier to eat. I haven't tried that yet but heard it at one of my support group meetings. Good luck to you!

Please don't take this as an insult but do you have a box of baking soda in your freezer? My freezer can leave an after taste too unless I clean it out & put in a box of Arm & Hammer. Foods just smell up the freezer sometimes, even if it's clean as a whistle. -

Also, just thought of this....this is a blog by someone who had WLS who posts recipes. I think it's Eggface? I've seen that here posted a lot. Try her blog...she's got recipes for just 1 or 2 meals. Good luck to you! **BOSTON STRONG** -
Cooking/Shopping for one?

Oh man, I wish I lived near you to take those left overs off your hands! I'm sure a good neighbor would take some of your left over food. In fact, if you can't figure out how to cut down the amount of food you make, (did you try just "halfing" your ingredients at least to cut down on half) see what's going on in your community. Like we had a neighbor who lost his wife 5 years ago....all us neighbors picked a day to bring him food for the first week after. Well, they all stopped after the week but it's been 5 years now & I'm still feeding him. He looks forward to my meals. I did invite him over a couple times but with us having kids, it just got too busy/hectic & our dinner times would fluctuate & he's elderly so he likes to eat at a set time each night...so now I just have one of us run the food over to his home & he can have it whenever. I started also sending over our leftovers. But leftover ITALIAN food is the BEST! Even if it's frozen! Budget wise, it's probably best you find some recipes that are for just one or two people, altho if you can't, I just offered you my suggestion above! -
hungry starving 6 days post o Starving at 6 days out....
Pixie Dust posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved last week Tuesday (7/16), so I'm 6 days out & I'm **STARVING!** What's up with that?? I must be doing something wrong. Here I'll list what I've had today, maybe someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong: Breakfast ~ (oops, this one is hard to list since I ate the reminder 1/8 of a container I had of Kroger's Private Selection Amber Honey Greek Yogurt) If I had eaten the entire yogurt, it would have been 11 grms of Protein but I hate it in increments yesterday. Drank Water, drank water, drank water lunch ~ Premier Protein shake, vanilla flavor, 30 grams of protein, mixed with 6 oz of decaf coffee Drank water, drank water, drank water dinner ~ Yoplait 100 calorie Greek Lime flavored yogurt with 10 grams of protein Snack ~ nectar Cappuccino Latte 24 grms protein, 100 Cal If I can count all the liquids from the Protein drinks, then I've had 72 oz liquids & maybe 66 grms of protein? I'm just adding at the top of my head. Sorry if I'm off. Shouldn't ALL THAT keep me full? I swear, right now I feel I could eat a sandwich! LOL! (J/K), but hungry enough to eat something! Please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong. Spell it out because I'm sorta dense...just sayin'. Thanks fellow senior sleevers! -

Now I have a craving for Panera's baked potato soup! LOL! Maybe I'll have my hubby pick one up for me tonight or tomorrow! BTW, I just ****LOVE**** your user name here! Very clever!!! Mrs.SleevieNicks! LOL!!! Two thumbs up for that one! -

I really love you all!!! Thanks so much! I did take my PPI this morning & so far, so good. I have had 12 oz Water (not doing so great today) so far & nearly an entire 5.3 oz container of 100 calorie Yoplait Green Lemon flavored yogurt. NUT said to stay away from seeds & the first bite I had of yogurt was strawberry & got a mouth full of itty bitty seeds that I spit out (well, wipe them off my tongue with a napkin actually). Now I'm having my first Protein shake of the day which is 110 calories/14 grms of protein & I mixed it with 6 oz of fat free milk, which has protein too but not sure how much?? Have to get back to drinking water like I did yesterday. I was so hungry yesterday so that's why I drank so much! I do find that when I drink my stuff super cold, it goes down better for me. Also, I can take a nice sized gulp too. I don't have to take an itty bitty sip like the NUT said & everyone else. Only if it's cold tho! If I hadn't seen my upper GI x-ray, I'd have really wondered if I had been sleeved, but I saw my banana shaped/sized tummy so it must have happened! With the hunger I had yesterday tho, I was really doubting I did have the surgery! Thanks so much for all your help! It's nice to come here where people understand cause as much as my hubby wants to understand, he just doesn't since he hasn't been in my shoes. He won't ever be either since he knows how to control himself, unlike me. -

Greek yogurt equals yum!
Pixie Dust replied to Linkinchik's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I don't mind the Greek yogurts but Chobani is the only brand I can't swallow. YUCKO! Glad you're enjoying it! Chobani is the only brand my son will eat in Greek yogurt...go figure? -
I'm not supposed to either but twice I have with my protein drinks & had completely forgotten until I had finished my drinks. So since I haven't had any issues, I'm going to use one where I see fit. Truthfully, I find I suck in LESS air with a straw!

Feeling pins & needles in legs when touched
Pixie Dust posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband has been helping me up & down on the lousy soft low couch we have & each time he touches my legs, they hurt as if there are pins & needles being stuck in my legs. I did the search bar looking for leg pain but no one has described what my legs feel like? Has anyone else gone thru this?? If so, what is it? I should walk more & will do so right now....how much walking do you suggest? Each time I get up to go to the bathroom or kitchen or whatever, I take a few laps around my house but then I'm back on my couch. I don't like being a couch potato either but my meds make me sleepy & weak so I just want to sleep my incision pains away. Any suggestions or theory on my pins & needles legs? -
Once again it's proven that diff doctors have diff protocol for diet advancement. I was on clear liquids day of surgery. Day after surgery, they brought me "Boost" for breakfast at the hospital & I'm on full liquids for 2 weeks. Then puree'd one week, then soft 1 week, then the sky is the limit with food after that! Well...you know what I mean (haha!)...

I think you jennybittyboo & Fiddleman were right cause my back is bothering me too. How in the world do they have you laying on the surgery table?? Anyone know? Anyway, just to be on the safe side, I did have the doppler done on both my legs yesterday morning & all is well in regards to no blood clots. I guess I'll just wait it out for now...as long as it's nothing serious, I'll be okay. I have an old achy body now so don't expect to bounce back as I did in my 20's or even 30's anymore. Thankfully, I'm not pushing up daisy's tho! -
Scared to "eat" anything more than broth or water...
Pixie Dust replied to marfar7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That could very well be. I didn't have a band to "dig out" of my stomach (OMG, I shivered just typing that!) Please call your doc. They really don't mind. They expect to be on call when they're on call. Your doc will feel better making you feel better, so please call if you're feeling something too painful or something isn't right. ProudGrammy should be a psych she's so good at passing out info! She's so right! Today is day 5 ~ surgery was Tues & today was the first time I got out of bed without moaning & groaning all by myself! I've had to have my husband help me pull me up. I came downstairs & making decaf coffee to mix with my Protein shake. Hope to go to Sam's Club this morning before it gets busy to buy more Premiere Protein shakes which are $4 off a 12 pack thru today. Then I hope to sit at my kitchen table & coupon for those less fortunate than me! I want to make a big donation in honor of my getting thru this surgery alive! I really feared death & leaving my kids with no mother. My husband may have to do the shopping part of my couponing but he knows how important it is for me to donate to those in need. Please let us know how you're doing & please, please, please, don't hesitate to call your doc. Sunday is a GREAT day for him/her to hear from you! -

Pixie Dust replied to marfar7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You were sleeved the same day as me, right? Tuesday? I've been having 98% fat free cream of celery Soup made with fat free milk (for protein), won ton soup ~ soups all strained, cream of wheat, Water, popsicle, premiere Protein vanilla or chocolate shake, & today I had a 1/2 container of the itty bitty Snack Pack sugar free Chocolate pudding. Used to be able to eat 12 of those (haha) at one time & I could barely eat an entire half today! My incisions hurt a bit depending how I get up & sit down but other than that, I'm almost starting to feel normal again (YAY!!!) Maybe you're doing too much too soon? I've got to say, my boys have really picked up their pace & have helped me since I've gotten home from the hospital! I'm so grateful! Hope you feel better soon & try not to be afraid to eat what the doc says you can eat. They know. ***sprinkling Pixie Dust*** -

I'm not going to crucify you....only you can do that to yourself! But I would say, that the alcohol is packing on pounds. It has a lot of calories. So partake in what you want to but try to keep it real & expect a weight gain....once you stop, I'd think that the weight would fall back off? I wasn't a drinker from the get-go so my problem will be pasta, not booze. :-( Good luck to you! It's hard to get into a new routine....I know. Just to not be tempted with what my family has been eating for dinner, I don't sit at the table with them right now till I get it all under control. -
Ohhhh....I haven't even thought of that! I'm thinking since I'm not really eating, what in the world can come out?? I've just had protein shakes & today had some cream of wheat. Hmm....I don't feel uncomfortable except for my incisions. I guess I don't have to worry for a couple days yet. I had surgery on Tuesday. So by Sunday if I haven't had a BM, I should contact my doctor?

should I go back to work?
Pixie Dust replied to lucy00us's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would take all the time I needed for sure. Of course, it's only been since Tuesday that I had my surgery & I still feel like I was run over by a Mac truck ~ twice! It's easier to stay off when you're off rather going back to work & realizing you went back too soon. Good luck to you on whatever you decide Lucy! -
