for me, a pillow is awkward to sit on, but that may be due to the rotund nature of my toosh. lol. I flew to South Africa, and used a seat cushion...like the ones you get for sitting on at ball games. A friend of mine has fallen in love with that "Forever Comfy" seat cushion. Definitely get up and walk around when you can. This will also help with blood circulation if you are prone to swelling. Have a great time in Japan!!

I knoew it was coming! But it's still messing with my head!
Museum-Mama replied to girlrfriday's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
go by a measuring tape! you should see your body responding to the weight loss and reshaping. -
LOL! give it time! You'll get responses. I am not certain of what to answer. That information was given to me right from the beginning. I would just call the doctor's office and ask! Well come to the June 2013 Club!

protein drinks opinions
Museum-Mama replied to ********'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your doc recommended these?! My mum is a dietitian, and we were researching the nutritional content. Glucerna, Boost, and Ensure are higher in Carbs than Protein! Not very good. -
I tried MIO when it first came out. I think it was the peach tea. GAG! Perhaps I should try another. The Special K drinks, from what I see on the labels of the ready to drink bottles, are more Carb than Protein. Dr. says NO! to the Special K.

Here is what my dietitian says about protein shakes: A good protein supplement contains close to 20gm of protein/serving, or more and less than 10 grams of carbohydrates/serving (if a Meal Replacement shake) and less than 4gm of carbohydrates/serving (if a straight protein powder/shake). In addition to looking at the protein and carbohydrate content of your Protein Drink we also encourage you to take a peek at the ingredient label and identify the source of the protein. If the source of the protein is whey, milk protein blend, egg, or soy then you’ve got you a good source of protein; however, Whey is by far the best source of protein so stick with that if you can. Without a doubt it is imperative that you stay away from any protein supplements in which the source of the protein is a Collagen Protein Blend! Collagen is an incomplete protein and you want to stay away from it. -

Lots of great insight above. I am do not have this problem, as I am still big. Surgery in a month!!! You cannot control what others think or how they act. You need to learn to be comfortable with who you are and have become. Grasp confidence! If you don't like the way a man is talking to you, be polite but CLEAR that you are not interested. As another post said, women will be catty no matter what. Hey, if your own best friend has the guts to start an affair with your husband and then lie to your face about it, then to heck with it all. (Yes, I went through that. Not pretty.) But what I learned from it was who I Could and SHOULDN'T trust. To thine own self be true. No one, NO ONE, can fault you for being an honest person. They will try, but that is their own jealousy/insecurity causing it. And AMEN on the self defense class! -
I used depo for several years and never had a problem. LOVED IT. I got off it so that I could get pregnant. It took about a year to do so. I did use the Nuva-ring ONCE. I did not even last the month. It gave me the yeast infection from HECK! and it hurt like heck getting it out too. I don't recommend it at all.

Let the countdown begin....
Museum-Mama replied to Museum-Mama's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Since I am traveling to Big D for surgery and staying at my parents' house for recovery, I am packing for two weeks to stay there, as well as a small bag to take to hospital. On top of that, I have to pack my house and move this month! AUGH!! But I am shopping for my pre-op and post-op diet needs, Vitamin needs, etc... I cannot function without my To Do lists. lol -
Okay, June sleevers! For some of us, we are in that last, 30-day countdown. ARE YOU READY FOR IT?!?!?! I'm starting to get a little anxious, but I have made my packing lists, to do lists, and shopping lists.

On a regular computer/laptop, click the link I shared. In the upper right, just under the banner ad, is a BLACK button that says "Join Group". This is not the same as "Follow Group". If this still isn't working for you, as moderator, I can send you an Invite. -

Ideas for what to tell people?
Museum-Mama replied to BriDawn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am doing a modified version of the truth. Since I am having my gallbladder and stomach repaired at the same time, that is all I am telling them. My coworkers have known that I have had tummy troubles for several years now, and so are aware that I am having some surgery. Since I work with a lot of volunteers, they don't really know. So, that's the story they are getting! -
