Museum-Mama replied to Museum-Mama's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ok friends, if you want a Facebook group, I need some e-mail addresses! Please private message them to me rather than just posting them out in the open....unless you feel comfortable doing that. Or you can PM me on facebook at museummamma@facebook.com. Again, this will be a closed, and private group. You have to request to be added. I can't get this started unless I have some people to add from the start up! Please and thank you! -

Id be happy to make one if y'all want one. One of the secret kind of groups too. -
I have the store steam them. Just ask at the fresh fish counter if they will. Its free. Although they might be a tad over steamed, causing the meat to srick to the shell, it still tastes good. I just had crab legs for dinner and my tummy is sooooooo happy!

5'2, starting weight 206, now 143...here's a pic
Museum-Mama replied to Jenny12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 5'3". Started at 220, and want to get to 140 at least. I'm half way there and am about 2.5 months post-surgery. I hope I look as good as you when I get to 140! YOU ROCK!! -
I tried lots of things. Even mixed it with jello. NASTY NASTY NASTY STUFF!!! I agree with Bunny. There are too many other options that are much better.

I am concerned and confused. I have now lost 35lbs, and am almost 2 months post-op. I weight once a week, on Sunday. I have noticed that my FitBit Aria is reporting that my body fat % is still pretty high. Its usually around 43-45%. Sooooooo.....what am I losing exactly? Just muscle?! Or am I losing both fat and muscle, which would cause the BF% to relatively remain the same? I don't know what all to tell you, so if you have questions about what I am doing and eating etc....please just ask! Should I even be concerned with it at this point? Please and thank you! Serious question seeks serious answer!
Museum-Mama replied to LonghornNiner's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
After my divorce, I was approached by one guy that was pretty big. We hit off for a while. He was good looking and had a great personality, but it was his confidence..the one that made him come up to me in the first place....that started it off. Yes, I am traditional. I do not like to initiate. (For all you horndogs, I am not talking sex right now. LOL!) I think its best for the man to start the conversation if he is looking for more than just idle chit chat. But that is me. MY preference. My weight made me less confident and feel less desirable (not to mention the emotional abuse my ex husband put me through). It wasn't until a healthy body kind of guy showed me how desirable I was to convince me that no matter what, I was beautiful too. I didn't seek him out, he came after me. Perhaps heavier men need that kind of attention too, and we ladies are failing in that aspect? food for thought. I like all types, as long as they take care of themselves and dont look like they just crawled out of bed. Blech. Anyway, don't forget that many men and women are still subconsciously brainwashed by social standards. In developed countries, we are told to like the healthy/skinny types. In lesser developed countries, the larger the woman the more desirable she is because she can birth babies and she's rich enough to be well fed. This mentality isn't as prevalent as it once was, but it still lingers. As an archaeologist and world traveler, I have seen this first hand. Just more food for thought. 0 calories! -
New and need HELP!
Museum-Mama replied to acampbell1318's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had the same fears, and issues with food. I am about a month and a half from having been sleeved. Trust me, for this long out, it has not been an issue. Yes, I do find myself wishing I could have a few things I see in the store when grocery shopping. I have to remind myself that I can have them, but I DONT NEED THEM. If you stay focused on getting your liquid and Protein goals...you will stay too full to want anything else! At least, this is all my experience. You will go through different feeling as you get closer to your date. I was fine until two days out and then I was freaking with panic. Just put your thoughts into perspective. Talk to us, your friends and fellow sleevers. we are here to help! Now, that does not mean you can go eat BBQ right after surgery and think you will get sympathy from anyone here. There are times when we do something stupid and the group will let you know! I guess my point is, start getting yourself in the right mind frame to do this. Start now. If you continually tell yourself you are afraid to fail, odds are you will. CHANGE YOUR THINKING. Be positive and strong about it. See the Pooh Bear quote in my signature. Read it. Post it on your mirror or fridge or where ever you will see it LOTS. I did that, and it has helped in so many ways. Best of luck! -
New Orleans Going to NOLA this weekend! Any suggestions?
Museum-Mama posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My honey is taking me to New Orleans this weekend! But he wants to do restaurant hopping rather than just eating a full meal at one place. YIKES! I am only about 6-7 weeks post op, and cleared to eat regular foods. Any suggestions on how to handle all of this restauranting? Please and thank you! -
Getting in your liquids?
Museum-Mama replied to LittleDooker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you sure it isn't the Sweet n Low you are using? the artificial sweeteners just about kill me and give me horrible heartburn. You might try Stevia or something more natural. Otherwise....call your Nut or nurse. they are there to help! -

WOOHOO! Enjoy it! I certainly notice a difference in it too, for the better....Not as intense as what you are feeling, but some good vibrations going on. -
Wow. Ive not heard of such a thing! Glad you are ok. My heart rate was up from not getting enough fluids, but not that high. Only 120.

Lol, don! Anyway, ive not heard of anyone losing all their hair...just that it thins out. That is why Protein is soooo important to get in first. I also take Biotin. I started before tje surgery and noticed my hair and nails getting stronger. Now I am about 6weeks out and my hair is starting to weaken because I struggle with protein intake. Keep in mind, there seem to be just as many who have not experienced this with their hair. We are all made differently. Just go with the flow and realize that it may be a temporary by hurdle as you lose the weight. Dont stress so much! That makes hair fall out too.
