Feel awkward being called skinny
Museum-Mama replied to Kelly1334's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had anxiety over compliments, and have had counseling for the issues. When ever I got a compliments, I would get shy, and say "No, i'm not ______." The more I did that, the more argumentative I became. For me, it was all self-esteem issues related. I was told to just smile sweetly, and say, "Thank you." Nothing more, nothing less, nothing else. After a while, a few times, it became very easy to do, and the thank you was truly sincere. try it! -

Seriously?! People are that petty over stinking stars when we are here to encourage each other to succeed? Holy cow. -
This is hard to answer. I am no marriage councilor, just a divorcee who learned from her failures. In my humble opinion, you are taking the right first steps: prayer, recognition of your feelings, and the desire to work things out. Is your dh supportive of the choice you made? Is he heavy too? Have you talked to him about how you are feeling (without sounding scolding or accusing)? If he is supportive, ask him for help. let him know that seeing him get to eat so much is hurting you. you don't have to ask him to stop, just snack at times you are not so aware of it. Communication is always the start to finding your answers or plan of action. I wont say that it always is a good, positive experience. If he gets upset, you need to hear him out as well; but you may not like what he has to say. however, it will allow you both to have all the cards on the table, so to speak, and then you can make your plan of attack on the blue feelings. That's all I've got. Sorry that it doesn't exactly give you the answers. I am not sleeved yet, so I cannot say how the surgery effects each person. I have read that many go through a down period for a little while after surgery. If the sun is shining where you are, get out for your walk and soak in that Vitamin D happiness! Hugs, prayers, and happy thoughts!

One thing I learned the hard way is to trust your intuition. You know when something is not right for you, and you dont even have to rationalize it. Go! Be happy!

So, I have seen guys (and gals) talking about the size of thier...ehem...package as they loose weight; and even women are asking about their vajayjays. What about the BOOBS? How does this weight loss effect cup size secifically? Should I expect a drop in cup as I lose weight?

Something horrible happened last night...
Museum-Mama replied to bee13's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
First, HUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGSSS!!!!! Secondly, take the advice most are saying here: make the decision for YOU. Over time, with things like this, in my marriage it was better to ask for forgiveness than permission. You are bettering yourself, not getting a face tattoo. (I have nothing against tattoos, btw, but you get my point. lol!) Stick to your guns and go for it! If your parents and husband love you as much as they say they do, they will end up supporting yout in the end after the surgery is complete. Have faith, and chin up! We are here to support you! -

Corsets: Posture, Waistline, & Kink
Museum-Mama replied to delta_girl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Weeeeelll.....bring a corset lovin' woman myself, I can tell ya a bit about the history. (Its part of my job. Really! It is!) You have to understand that women were corset trained as soon as they started their period practicly. Today, you can still achieve the training, but you have to wear it as much as possible. Another note, a corset can actually weaken the muscles of your core since it becomes the structure that holds you straight. It doesn't exactly make you sit up straight, it HOLDS you up straight. The best thing I ever did for my posture was to take an adult beginning ballet class. It was super easy, and was mostly streatching. It wasn't meant to teach me how to be a prima ballerina. I went one night a week, for 6 months. In no time after beginning the class, I naturally had good posture without thinking about it and my balance was so much better. My inner core was strong and balanced, and my tummy a little flatter too! It was a lot of fun because it was a few older woman who wanted to be a little active and have fun doing it. I would dave the waist-cincher that you have for when you need to look smooth and toned under a nice dress or top....or when you need a little kink. -
How long did you research before you booked surgery
Museum-Mama replied to JosieMac's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I dabbled for about a year thinking I might be able to have it covered by insurance, and then when I discovered I have funding to self pay, I dived right in! I have to wait to have the surgery, so while I wait out the 2.5 months, I am reading up on all I can. For me, the decision wasn't a metter of knowing all about it. I knew enough to make an educated decision, and really questioned the doctor I was choosing. In fact, I changed my mind from lap-band to sleeve because of the candid discussions we had that day. -
June 2013 Sleevers GROUP
Museum-Mama replied to Museum-Mama's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
ElaineB- here is the link to the Social Group I started for us June sleevers: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/forum/368-june-2013-sleevers/ I started it, not realizing there was a forum for June sleevers. :/ oh well. you can join either, yes by following this forum topic, or by clicking the "Join Group" button in the Group I created in social groups. Jules- I had no real problem with the psych eval either. I filled out a 4pg questionnaire and then was later called by the psych-doc to talk for about 20 minutes. It was a breeze. I agree with a previous post that said they want to make sure you are going to keep up with this, are not clinically depressed, etc. Don't worry too much about it. COME ON, JUNE!! -

baby bullet or something like it?
Museum-Mama replied to Museum-Mama's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Certainly! And with any diet, its everything in moderation kind of mentality. I have the recipe for the chili and will try to use leaner meat (ground turkey isnt bad!) And cut out what carbs and fat i can. But in the cold months (or month rather, here in tx) i do love a cup of chili! -

Oh. bummer -
i have a Wii fit plus, and like it well enough. I also bought the AE Sports game "Wii Active" and "Active 2". There is everything from cardio to strength training, to yoga/stretching. Talk about a bum-kicking!! It comes with a resistance band as well. Guess I will dust off the old Wii in preparation for the surgery!
