You do not have to take on all that shame! You cannot be blamed for your husband's actions. That is all him. I went into what i thought was a very loving marriage. It turned out to be emotionally scarring, and nearly leading to suicide. I was controlled, manipulated, lied to, cheated on, and abandoned. The best thing I ever did was divorce him. I cannot tell you how much better I am physically, mentally, and emotionally for it. Now, if your DH is willing to work with you, then give it a try. Marriage counseling CAN work...if both are honest and WORK at it. Otherwise, you may need to assess your life and make the best decision in your interest. HUGGGGSSSSS!!! I am a sympathetic ear if you ever need to e-mail me. I don't have answers, but I do listen well.

Dr B That is a good question for me to ask. As I am unsure. I know that my follow up care is included. I just got my bill this morning to prepay, and with insurance getting some of the cost because of the other things they are fixing, I am paying $7,125.00.

Backsliding due to divorce
Museum-Mama replied to SPI Tortuga's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
First....HUUUUUUUUUGGGGG!!! You will get through this. YOU WILL. I did, and so will you. My divorce and the mess leading up to it is a huge factor in my weight gain. Do what you can to avoid this. It will only make you more unhappy, and unhappy with yourself. I don't know what circumstances are leading to the divorce, but mine was messy and I almost ended my life over it. It wasn't until I realized that this IS a new start, and i am no longer controlled/manipulated/emotionally abused by another, unloving person. Set a day that will be your RESTART. Not only should you change your diet that day, but start thinking about yourself differently. You are free to be you, to better you, and to find people who will life you up (and vice versa). But start with YOU. Focus on you and your needs. Don't fuss with the finding a date and such. That will come when you have emotionally healed. If you don't want to go out on a date a friend set you up with, then DON'T. You need to be emotionally ready for dating. So smack a friend if you have to. I did. She finally got the point. Also, you have us to lean on...sort of. Good for you for asking for help and encouragement. Trust me, hiding everything away is not very healthy. So message me if you need to. I'll be here. Take heart. Read my signature, and what Christopher Robin says to Pooh Bear. This truly did help me get through all the pain of my broken marriage and divorce...and another woman who went through the same things gave it to me. It had helped her too. -
I could be totally wrong, but what I am reading and hearing, etc...is that when insurance is involved, they are charged a higher amount from the hospitals. When you are self-pay, most are willing to work with you and not have such a heavy burden of cost. My doc is charging about $8000 for self pay, for all things covered...even follow up appts.

June 5 here! I am curious to know as well...about the prep. I have started getting my kitchen needs together. (I didn't have a food processor/blender) and making a hospital packing list. Also, trying to find the best place to buy protein powders.

WLS excluded, but Hernia repair covered
Museum-Mama replied to eLinor's topic in Insurance & Financing
eLinor, I am using My Bariatric Solutions, and have the same insurance issues. They quoted me, with 80% repair covered by insurance and self-pay on the sleeve, it was just something over $7000! Otherwise, for both things, I am looking at over $12,000 out of pocket costs. I highly recommend MBS. They have been nothing but awesome! I used the Dallas Office for my consultation, and then all surgeries are done at Decatur. -
I do not live in Dallas, but will be sleeved by Dr. Stowers at My Bariatric Solutions. Hopefully in early June! I am only 2 hours south of the metroplex. Stay in touch with all of us on here. This is a great group of people from ALL OVER.

The link is http://www.obesityaction.org/. In the middle of the page, a small way down, you will see an icon (not a tab) for RECOVER PROGRAM. Click on this, and it will take you to the page that has the PDF form. This is not for samples, as best I can tell. It is for assistance with Vitamins for those that cannot pay, or it would be a financial burden. Its worth a try though! Thanks for sharing! -

Nutritionist vs. Dietician
Museum-Mama replied to Museum-Mama's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
YEAH! I'm not wrong! Just...not technically correct. lol. -
I am curious, as I read through the posts on here....when speaking about your "food adviser", its always called a NUT or nutritionist. Knowing a few dieticians, personally, they are none to thrilled about nutritionists. Dieticians go through study, testing, and have to keep up with their education to keep their licensing. Part of their training is clinical. Nutritionists do not, and are not licensed. I like my doctor I chose, because I will be working with an actual registered dietician. I have had experience with a nutritionist on another diet, and she was just whack. I knew more than she did. SO...my questions is, are most of you using a nutritionist instead of a dietician, or are we just referring to dieticians as NUTs in the forums generically? Completely random, I know....but like I said, I am just curious. Thanks!

Since they remove the producer of Ghrelin, does it really help u not be hungry?
Museum-Mama replied to marfar7's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't had surgery yet, but when my dr was explaining to me the differences of surgery, he did explain that our bodies actually have THREE sources of where the stuff is produced. If I remember right, it was the brain, stomach, and one do the intestines. Again, I'm trying to remember something I was told about two months ago. Ask your doctor about this.
