I'm still at the hosp until 11:00 am today but so far so good. Everyone on the staff has been great the whole floor is dedicated to the WISH Center so plenty of other bandsters & RNY here as well. Pre-op was simple post-op during the first few hours were difficult but only a 6 (1-10). Walking around after the first few hours ever since. Band is doing well as gas is minimum. No rush to leave since care is so good. If your in the Chicago tri-state area I would definitly check this place out. A woman from NY is here too. Starting shakes in a few minutes so we shall se how this goes. Cramping is there but very easy to deal with. I hope the other who were banded on May 26 are doing as good. Cheers! Jim

I guess I thought I would start to develope problems in my late 40's & 50's without the Band but now that my new band is here I'm thinking of that new Caddy when I'm 70.

When I work out hard or cut the grass on a hot summer day I usually drink a lot of water at once about 12 oz over a minute or so with the band is this still possible?

Nolan is his name and he is just the sweetest little thing. It came as a big shock to his mom and dad and everyone else. He was born Feb 15th and is still in the NICU (level 3) waiting for surgery for his heart. A heart murmor was detected and a hole in his heart has not closed up so an operation is most likely. Mom is over the Down Syndrome for now but the babys heart is still a major problem according to his Doctors. Time will tell they keep saying but he needs to gain weight before he can have the operation. His feeding with the bottle was good but now he fights it-so very sad I guess DS babies have sucking problems. If anyone has any good advice I welcome your reply. Peace!

what have you done because you were embarrased of your weight?
Chicagoboy replied to lovecats85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Nothing. I always ate the same as everyone else. I did snack often so this is where I ran into trouble. -
One way I greet people is to say what's shaken? Well I walked into the mens room and noticed a few men I knew standing up doing there business. Of course I said "what's shaken" and there was an uncomfortable silence to say the least. Thank God they knew I was married or I may have got my ass kicked. lol

I'm 8cc with room for another 3 cc if I need it. I got 4 cc the first time and 2 cc each after that. I think 1 cc from here on if needed. I have some problems with bread but everything else is ok. I will need 1 cc or 2 IMO.

5 Months Later, Frustrated, in need of a new CHICAGO Doctor.. Suggestions?
Chicagoboy replied to thechatrooper's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I went here could not be happier. Dr Rosen is my Doc but the others are excellent too. http://www.wishcenter.org/new/surgeons_il.asp -
After my recent fill (#3) I can honestly say that I notice a change but I can still eat almost anything. Bread is not my friend unless I take it sloooow. pizza cust very little at a time. I have lost 10 lbs since my surgery so I'm a little concerned that I may be coming to the end of the road with the band. I have the larger band with a maximum of 11 cc. My next appt is in one month. I know my Doc is expecting to see me lose 4-6 minimum. I assume he may do another 1 cc from here on. On a good note I have stepped up my exercise program with good cardio work out but time will tell if I'm fooling myself. Another friend of mine who has the same Dr. said he has 11 cc now and can eat everything with no problem. He said the Dr. is being very understanding and not charging him for his recent care. He may need to go back and have another band pute in. I hope this thing works out for both of us. Anyone else have this problem?

Your 100% right. I was told to do that on my last visit. Did I do that? No But now seems to be the right time. Thanks for that web site. I'll start in the am when I wake up. Peace!

Teresa if you need it you should use it. If you lost weight and don't need it then that a different story.

I'm renting one now for myself.

10k cash and I was on my way. BC/BS sucks I can say from my own expeience but I knew it would. I went into this planning on self pay only. Try to raise the money some way thru 401k loan, home loan, credit card or sell your car.

Dr. Phil proclaimed the way to achieve inner peace
Chicagoboy posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Dr. Phil proclaimed the way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started. So I looked around my house to see things I started and hadn't finished; and, before leaving the house this morning I finished off a bottle of Merlot, a bottle of Chardonnay, a bottle of Baileys, a bottle of Kalua, a package of Oreo's, a pot of coffee, the rest of the Cheesecake, some Saltines and a box of Godiva Chocolates. You have no idea how freaking good I feel ! -
This is a little crazy, but do any of you....

I'm the same way I hear of something new and think WOW! this could be for me. -
I guess that means after 2 fills my band is working. I ordered a small burrito at Baja Fresh after eating 1/3 I felt it trying to come up. I attempted to keep it down but just not happening. I reached for a few napkins and up came sum of my lunch. I then decided to eat only the inside of it and leave the flour shell for the trash can. I felt full and yet did not eat much at all. Kind of gross but I was glad to see it did its job.

My Doc insisted I bring it with on the day of. When I woke up I was wearing my CPAP. I used it until the next day.
