    Getting My band on 6/15/05

Keri for me I needed 3-4 days min before going back to work. Have ready chewable gas-x , heating pad (I skip this) and plenty of Ensure drink mix. Soup like tomato or chicken-Lipton, crystal lite will be a nice treat. By day 3 I was much better and by day 5 I was 75% recovered and today 9 days out I feel about 85%. Some pain but nothing to stop me from doing anything. Good luck you'll do fine I was told great things about you Dr. but for me Dr Rosen was near by and less money ($10,500). Cheers!

    Dating after weight loss

First relax let your mind and self image catch up with your new body. Then when your feeling better go out and make some male friends and let yourself feel what ever it is you will feel. Does this make sense?

    Attack of the Fast Food!!!

3 letters come to mind KFC Really they have mushy food and everything else. Not fast food to me in fact it takes forever to get your meal some times. You can eat healthy at most chicken places if you know what to order. I have been craving mashed potato with gravy since being banded 7 days ago.

    Getting My band on 6/15/05

Hey Chi-town keep on the liquids the best you can I admit I ate a small meal once a day. Like hamburger patty or chicken breast but no breads or white stuff for sure. I'm 7 days after being banded by Dr Jeff Rosen at WISH Center in Downers Grove so far so good. Pain is about 80% gone. Cheers!
  8. Yippie for you. I'm 7 days out from being banded and I'm doing great except for when I try to eat regular food and forget that mushy liquid is what I need. Congrats again and a good word of advice stay off regular foods for 2 weeks minimum or you may feel bad after eating.

    Woo Hoo!!! I'm banded

Well its been a week already and I can say thank God I'm feeling better. I off the Tyl w/codene and have one week of Heparin left. I go in next Thurs to have the staples removed. I'm eating a lot less and look forward to getting on the scale on the Dr's office. I hope all the other new bandsters are doing as well. To all the June people relax its not that scary. The worst for me was the first day after being banded and then it got better and better. Cheers!

    Eating like normal....?

I am 6 days post op and can eat average size meals but choose not to. I don't have the interest in food as I did before. I think the pain I still have keeps me away from food. I'm sure I'll need a fill before to long to keep this type of progress to continue?

    Synopsis of Surgery Day

Got checked in at 5:40 am went into the holding area and got into the hosp gown and was told to lay on the bed/cart. My wife and son were there to keep me company 4-5 people kept asking me the same questions. When did you eat last? Drink? Pee? are you on meds? any allergies? ect.. The Gas Doc came in and started the IV. My doc came in and said hello after that it was 123. Kiss wife and baby and down the hall into "the room" I got off that table onto another and was told to move up, then down then up. ok that s good. I sat there for a few seconds and it was lights out. I dont recall anything after getting on the op table. WOW! That's wild. Next thing I recall was being in recovery room and people saying hey Jim over and over. Shut the hell up I thought? The rest is history. I was told I had a cath inserted but when I came out it was already removed-Thank God! I did feel some pressure when I tried to pee, but I could not pee for hours but after several tries it happened and I was like a race horse every 30-40 min. I was so sleepy when I got to my room I slept most of the day. Science is cool

Im a Cheater!!! Ive done did a bad thing!

The first step is admitting you did somehing wrong so you'll be ok. During my 14 day pre-op diet I said forget this and had a small piece of food like a Whopper Jr without the bottom bun. Then it was much easier after that.

about to be banded...and I am so scared

People who undergo face lifts, breast modifications, lipo suction ect..are much more at risk than lap band people. My Dr is also a full time ER Trauma Doc and he said compared to what he usually see's this is cake walk. But I agree with you it is still elective surgery and I said the same thing to my self as I was walking thru the hosp. Why am I doing this? This is crazy I'm healthy right now-true I am still healty but for how much longer? I just keeping thinking in my head flashes of my whole life and being over weight (most of it). I felt like I was at Vegas I said screw it "Lets Roll"

    48 hours after surgery

I guess I'm lucky 3 days out and I'm feeling just sore not stiff but I am taking it all very very slow just in case. Sleeping the first night was difficult since I was up to pee every 2 hrs (that was sore too). Now I can sleep 4 hrs with little or no discomfort. Hang in there

    Woo Hoo!!! I'm banded

Start of Day 3. I keep getting up every few hours to pee and it hurts just a bit. I had a small fever last night but liquid Tyl w/codene did the trick. Heprin shots every 8 hrs is going smooth but the sipping of Water is time consuming. I want to gulp and go but that hurts when going thru. My stomach makes a lot of noise (# 2 I think). Any tips on getting thru the 1st week?
