    Where do you work?

Me? I am currently working at a Paid/Volunteer Department we have 7 paid firefighters and 1 paid lieutenant (we are budgeted for 12FF and 3LT) We also have around 250 volunteers. We have 16 stations all staffed by volunteers. The paid firefighters and LT. currently staff 4 stations. We are under staffed so we don't work a normal shift. We are currently scheduled from Monday-Friday 0700-1700 hours. We run an average of 8,000+ calls. and serve a population of approximately 110,000 people. I started volunteering in 2009 and got on with the paid side in 2011. So I've been in the fire service for around 4 years, 2 as a volunteer firefighter and 2 as a paid firefighter.

Just curious where everyone is employed! No need to share department names if you don't want to. Tell us about yourself and the department you work for.

    Physical limits after surgery

Awesome thanks ever body! Does anyone regret getting the surgery? Like wishing that they could have lost the weight on their own?

    Physical limits after surgery

I appreciate all the advice. My roommate who is also an EMT brought up a good point when she asked me that. She is concerned as well as my fiance, that having the sleeve surgery will restrict how much I can take in and function as a FF. I am also curious do you have to do the Protein shakes, Vitamins and other stuff for the rest of your life? Or as you loose weight you can cut back on these kinds of things?
  10. So I had a question and was curious what your thoughts were on it: As a Firefighter/EMT we cannot always plan our meals exactly. Just the other day I missed what would be my lunch time, because of a actual structure fire. My concern is what is going to happen if I miss my meal and I do heavy physical activity such as fighting a fire or trying to extricate someone from a car accident? Will I pass out or what? Also are there any firefighters or emts out there who have had to deal with this issue? And not the 2 week post op. I'm talking 6 months, 1 year, and so on.
