Sleeved and can't stop vomiting
NicholeRain replied to Chubarella's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost a month post op and still when I eat something non liquid I vomit. I am on pureed foods, but they do not stay down. I told my dr, and he said drink slower, but this is something happening without drinking. If it is not normal, then what is it? I know 'call my doctor' let us know that this part is understood, can anyone give me any additional advice as to the possible implications of vomiting post sleeve, off medications? -

Unlike the gastric band, the sleeve can not be undone. However complaints are far less with the sleeve as they are with the band. You can pretty much eat whatever you want (mechanically) just a small portion of it. So you will be able to eat healthy foods, and with the experiences you already have with small portions, you are more mentally prepared then most.

How much will I really lose?

"but if you are drinking with meals, you will be able to eat more" I was told that drinking with meals was not advised because it limited the amount of food you could eat, making your pouch fill to quick? this is why they say not to drink before meals right? So you have room? I am confused now. -

You weigh less at 4 am then you do at noon, it is perfectly normal for a person (sleeved or not) to fluctuate everyday through out the day, and have patterns in a month. They say never weigh yourself everyday, but once a week, so you can see the overall progress.

They do not call them slider foods for nothing, they slide right down with ease, but they give you too many calories. If I may suggest going to those protein shakes, health shakes to fill up on before you reach for the sliders. I have been concerned to for ice cream works wonderful but i have yet to find a low calorie, sugar free tasty ice cream. So I noticed the scale stopped going down, and decided to go back to my health shakes and just experiment with soft healthy foods. The sleeve can be done with an approximate 1-2 ounce pouch or with a 5-8 depending on the surgeon.

A weird kind of vomiting, when you do not feel sick, but mechanically you vomit mouth fulls of a saliva like substance for minutes to hours. It gets better, but the first couple weeks are gross. Having to excuse yourself from disgusted eyes after every 3 bite meal or 3 swallow drink, so they do not see you with your vomit cup, hick upping your stomach juices. -

me too! My hair is natural blonde, down to my butt. My husband loves it. I talked to the nut about this concern and she said lots of zinc, iron, biotin, and protein can decrease hair loss.

I was sleeved a week before you and that has been my only complaint, is I can not shake this overwhelming thirst. I can not drink the volume by brain is screaming that I need, I sip and fight the urge to keep drinking. I know I am not getting in more then 24 ounces day, despite constant efforts. My mouth is dry, and I know I am dehydrated. I always have water near by but I still have to sip and wait, and 8 sips and hour is the limit before I vomit. This really scares me, but my nut had no advice just what i already do 'sip and wait'.

March sleevers challenge
NicholeRain replied to @RealScoobyDoo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I share your fear. I never drank Water pre op. I drank tea while out to eat, and almond milk with dinner on regular days. One of my past doctors said one of the reasons I never was thirsty was because I was dehydrated all the time, that the state I was in was chronic and made me lose my thirst. Well I am very worried now, because the 2 glasses of ice tea I would of drank pre op, once or twice a week, now seems impossible. Never mind 64 ounces of water daily. The IV fluids they gave my after surgery alone made me gain 4 pounds in water weight in 2 days! I had not even had approval to have ice chips or low sodium broth yet, and I was 4 pounds heavier then my weight before being wheeled to the OR. I had to urinate every 20 minutes for days. So I am counting Protein shakes as part of my Fluid intake, because it is made of water. I am working hard to reach the goal, but I know it will take a long long time to get there, for as you said, even pre op I could not deliberately force myself to consume that amount.
