Sleeve to Bypass, NO NO NO?
DS75 replied to goldygirl1383840071's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I did have some reflux before my sleeve and the doctor and I discussed it. I have been on omeprazole since the surgery. He wants me to take 40 mg daily but 20 usually is enough. Reflux has not been a big problem for me. Goldygirl said exactly what I have been feeling...I am ready to get all these surgeries behind me and get on with my life. -
I might have a stricture. Have you had one?
DS75 replied to TX Patty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, i had a stricture with my sleeve. I have had 8 scopes to stretch it with a balloon as well as 9 weeks with a stomach stent...not fun. The endoscopic procedures are not bad at all! Dont worry about them. I did not know you could also have strictures with a bypass. That bothers me because my doctor is sggesting a bypass to correct my problem. I dont need to lose anymore weight but I do need to be able to keep food down. Goodluck to you. -
I was sleeved in March 2013 and am 4 pounds from my goal! I loved my sleeve but it will not stay open! Now it looks like I will have to have a bypass in a couple of weeks. I am very disappointed. I believe that long term, for absorption, no dumping syndrome, etc., the sleeve is the best choice. I just hate it that it seems mine did not work. I have lost nearly 100 pounds, but now I have trouble keeping any food down. My doctor has done lots of sleeves and says that I am his first patient with this stricture problem. I hope that whatever you decide works well for you.

Sleeve to Bypass, NO NO NO?

I understand your problem completely! I was sleeved in March and have lost nearly 100 pounds, just a few pounds from my goal, BUT I had a stricture, then a stomach stent, and found out today after a scope procedure and thriing up for about 6 weeks that my stomach has closed up again. Doctor balloon stretched it open today but I go back Nov 11 to see if he will try to fix my problem with a bypass. Like you, I did NOT wanta bypass. I liked my sleeve but my sleeve just will not stay open. You and I may be on this journey together. I will pray for you.
