Interesting article on changes when you lose half your body weight
Ginger6367 replied to lsereno's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thanks for that article. I was told by a friend that has had bypass, that I would always see myself as "fat"... I blew it off, thinking I would not think that way, but I was wrong. I am down 70+lbs and even though others can see it as a significant change, I am still stuck at" fat"... wondering if this feeling will ever go away. -

How many grams of protein per day?
Ginger6367 replied to #hashTag#'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 6.5 months out and I try to get in 65-75g /daily. I seen on Unjury site that the more you want to lose, the more protein you should take in daily. -
Tell me the honeymoon is NOT OVER?!
Ginger6367 replied to need2bthin!'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am a little over 6 months out and this is the first stall I have encountered. I have adjusted net calories from 850 to 950-1000. I've even joined a gym and walk faithfully everyday and still haven't moved the dial on the scale. . Any recommendations as to what else I can do to jump start again.? -

I had a 6 ( July 29) week post-op today. I feel better than I have in the past and have even started my daily walking a couple weeks ago. I am currently able to eat chicken, fish, hard cheeses, cottage cheese, applesauce, SF puddings/jello and yogurt. My favorite so far is, Oscar Meyer Deli Turkey and that's pretty much where I get most of my protein, along with a Nectar Fuzzy Navel mixed with CL Sunrise Orange or an Unjury Chocolate Shake mixed with a little peppermint extract.. My weight loss has been slow and I was concerned, so I asked about it. My caloric intake is not enough is what I was told and then when I add exercise on top of that, I am deinitely not getting enough calories to boost my matabolism. I am curently comsuming anywhere from 600-850 calories/day and then burning around 200-250 calories with walking. My current fluid intake is around 50-70oz/day and protein is around 55-65 g/day. So my point here is, for those of you that think your weight loss has been slow, try incresing calores.

Congratulations! Love to hear positive things!

I wish I had the answer to that. Hopefully, it will all change soon. Makes me depressed:(

Please tell me this 3 week stall will not stay. Is there anything different one can do to help with this stall. My surgery was July 29, and I'm lucky to get on 500-600 calories/ day. I can get 60-65g of protein and 50-60 oz fluid. Not sure what else I can do different.

Fooducate is also a great app. I happen to like it better than myfitnesspal. Just sayin'.

I'm day 2 post-op and I've felt better. I've got lots of what I feel is acid reflux going on and think I would do better if it would just go away. Is this normal to have this? I've been keeping 5-6 oz fluids down an hour and will be allowed to have proteins at some point today. I'm also hoping to get cath out today.

Getting Prepared for Surgery
Ginger6367 replied to chiara55's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unjury has my vote. I have tried both chocolates, vanilla, chicken and unflavored. I have tried many Nectar flavors and I still go back to Unjury. I have even added a drop of peppermint extract to the chocolate and different sugar free pudding mixes to the vanilla, just to give a different shake flavor. -

Effects of Protein Shakes
Ginger6367 replied to miss_cee85's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been using either unjury vanilla or nectar Vanilla. I them add about a TBS or two of SF pudding mix for a variety of flavors. Tonight, I had a vanilla mixed with SF cheesecake pudding in and sprinkled in some SF cherry Jello mix for Cherry Cheesecake... AWESOME! banana is great as well. -
HELP! Feeling terrible on the pre-op diet - only 5 days to go!
Ginger6367 replied to LisaCincyRN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a terrible headache yesterday and still some of it today, but feel like I am finally doing better. I am only on day 3 of a 14 day diet and I still want to eat everything in sight, but I keep telling myself that it will get better. I just keep fluids in me to help subside the "hunger" pains. The only down fall to drinking so much is that I am up 2-3 times nightly to go to the bathroom. UGH! Good Luck to all!
