    Fell Off The Wagon!

Laura-ven, it's strangely comforting to know you have the same challenges! I also fell off the wagon over the 4th of July weekend. We went away & I ended up eating horribly! Now I am struggling to get back on track. I'm trying to jump-start myself by going back to just shakes for a couple of days but I keep finding myself tempted to have a bit of this or that, and this or that is always bad stuff!!! I wouldn't feel so down on myself but I'm also behind where my Dr wants me to be & I know he's going to kick my butt at my next appt. I hate being yelled at, makes me feel like such a failure!! Why, oh why must I love carbs?!? *sigh*

    My restart plan!

Hi All - I have been reading about the c25k, and I'd like to try it but I have to say I'm pretty intimidated. I'm 6+ weeks post op & not losing as quickly as my Dr would like (31 lbs & stalled for 1 week & counting) but I'm worried I'll try the c25k and not be able to do it & get discouraged. I'm at 208 right now. Has anyone else attempted it at over 200? Any advice for a nervous Nellie?

    Ugh so upset

I saw your pics on your previous post; you look great! Don't let one fool get you down. You do NOT look pregnant, he was just an idiot! Be proud of how far you've come, not just physically, but mentally as well - you were able to answer him, whereas you didn't in the past! Keep up the good work, you look great!
  5. Vix, I was sleeved May 16 and remember this well!! I also had a low grade fever for a few days but my Dr said it was normal for some people and it went away. He had me on omeprazole (Prevacid) which did help a lot. It was hard to swallow, but worth it. I'm 2 months out as of yesterday, and I no longer feel EVERY sip all the way down but I do still have some noises. Not as bad as others have posted, but my tummy talks! Congrats on your new sleeve! The journey begins! Every day it gets better, even with the major ups & downs some of us experience in the beginning. I am slowly adjusting, and it is worth all the uncertainty and hard work!

    back pain ugh!

I'm also a tummy sleeper, and had back pain after the surgery. Just couldn't get comfortable at night. I didn't have pain from the incisions (not for long anyway) but I would wake up after a few hours because my back was sore & I just couldn't find a comfortable position. Finally ended up buying a new mattress! Got the sleep number bed and its awesome! But that's kind of an extreme response; if you don't want to buy a new bed you could try getting one of those mattress toppers. I also noticed that as I started working out the combination of weight loss and strengthening my back muscles helped with the pain.
  9. I need some guidance from the veterans! I was sleeved 5/16/13 and as of today I'm down 28 lbs. It's starting to get real and it's freaking me out! In the past every time I would diet I'd do great until I got to anywhere above 200, but as soon as I got close to 200 I'd self-sabotage. Obviously I can't do that now, but I feel like my dog when I try to give her a bath....all backpedaling claws on linoleum! "Uh uh, not me, ain't gonna do it!" I've done tons of therapy, went through a year pre-op specifically to prepare for the surgery, I know what my issues are, but its still scary BECAUSE NOW IT'S HAPPENING! People are starting to notice...they're commenting on it. I'm one of those people who HATES to be noticed, don't like being the center of attention, just want to blend into the background. No one sees you when you're fat, but now THEY'RE STARTING TO SEE ME! Scary as hell! It's not a confidence thing - I'm successful and assertive in my job, at ease speaking in front of large groups, and am generally not seen as a shrinking violet. I am an introvert, but I've had to learn to work around it due to my job. But part of what helped me deal with it was the fact that I was (am) fat - it's a mental & physical barrier, the last thing protecting me from other people. And now it's melting away! I don't regret being sleeved, and I knew what to expect, but knowing and experiencing are two different things. It's exciting, but SUPER scary at the same time. Panic is setting in! Did anyone else feel this way? How did you get past it?
  10. You're lucky your Dr is so nice! Unfortunately, I have one of those that whips you to the goal line. I feel like it has more to do with his 'stats' than my health or progress. When I saw him at just shy of 4 weeks he said I was behind where I should be and needed to catch up! I had been feeling pretty good about my loss to that point, but after that I was pretty discouraged. He wants me to have lost 55 lbs by 90 days post-op. I went right home and put together a spreadsheet of where I have to be each week so I'll know how bad the next appt is going to be. Some docs just don't have any bedside manner I guess...
  11. I got the gummy vitamins, and it's a HUGE improvement! I know not all docs allow them, but mine is ok with them and boy, am I glad!

    May sleevers results so far!

Sleeved May 16 SW: 239 CW: 213 Total lost: 26 (8 lbs on pre-op diet) Still sloooowly introducing solids. Haven't tried beef yet, chicken didn't go well (just not ready), but fish is great. Finally figured out my 'full feeling' and have stopped giving myself the foamies. Drinking at least 2 Protein shakes a day in addition to food & 64oz of Water. Not losing super fast, but it does seem steady. Just started working out with a trainer, so hoping that will keep me on track too. I'm chopperq23 on My Fitness Pal if anyone wants to add me!
  13. Chopperq23 Please add me too! I need motivational buddies!

    How to feel

Belladonna, you should be very careful, at a week out you may not feel it but that seems like a LOT to be eating now! Especially chicken. I'm almost 6 weeks out and I can only eat a few bites at a time. I have to go really slow. I know everyone is different and each Dr gives different instructions, but I haven't seen anyone on here say that their Dr is ok with 4oz of chicken at 1 week. Don't get discouraged, it will get better and we're here to support you!!
  15. I had my gallbladder out years ago too, but I've only had the issues with diarrhea since being sleeved. I'm used to it by now (5 & 1/2 weeks post-op); the only time I really mind is when it happens at work. We don't have private bathrooms and it can be.....embarrassing. I've been known to run from one to the other looking for a completely empty restroom! Sadly I have even learned what the least populated times are and I try to time my snacks/lunch around that just in case. I figure it's a small price to pay
  16. Wow, I can't WAIT until I get to 200!! That's my next goal, LOL! One woman's stall is another woman's achievement Hang in there, your stall will break and it will be so great to see that change on the scale! Can't wait to see your post when it happens!

    First Goal achieved!

Thanks for the support everyone! I'm so glad I can come here and get feedback from others who are going though (or have gone through) the same thing. It really helps to know I'm not alone!
  18. Finally broke my first stall AND lost the one pound that was holding me back from my first goal! Sleeved May 16 & as of today down 25 lbs!! Next goal: lose the next 15 which will put me under 200 for the first time in 15 years!!! The 25 is from pre- and post-op diet, so I'm losing slower than my surgeon would like (I'm about 9 lbs behind where he wants me to be). He & my Nut are not very encouraging, so I'm hoping I can get some support here or on My Fitness Pal to keep me going!
  19. I agree. I only told 4 people - my husband, my parents, and my trainer. No one else needs to know. I don't necessarily feel like I need to hide it, but I have NO interest in the judgment of others. People at my work are whispering, but only one person has actually come out & said anything. She didn't even ask, just said "I hope you know you're just going to gain it all back." I just smiled - what do I care what she thinks? I'll be laughing on my way to a healthy weight!!
  20. Lisa, I'm sorry to read the frustration in your post, but if you only knew what an inspiration what you HAVE lost is to us newbies, you might feel a tiny bit better! You have come SO far, and you look amazing! You might feel very discouraged right now, but from the outside looking in I see someone who has battled their way to this point and will surely succeed! Don't give up, you can lose those last few pounds. You have done a great job, and it shows!!
