Bleh, tonight was the first time I've misjudged and NOT thrown up after eating too much!! I just felt like the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man. The auto-eject button sucks.... Now I want pluots.....and M&Ms......and Cookies....DAMMIT.

    Muscle cramps

Wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I've been working out with a trainer 2x a week for about 4 weeks now, and do cardio (treadmill) on most of the other days. I'm building up my endurance pretty well, but I was almost completely sedentary. Last night I got a cramp in the front of my shin that literally twisted my foot up towards my leg and just wouldn't quit! Took about 25 minutes to work it out. Just wondering if this is a result of beginning to exercise, or something else like not enough fluids or Protein (or something else I haven't thought of)?

    Pilates?

A co-worker suggested I try Pilates. I've heard of it, but didn't really know what was involved. I looked it up, but am still a little fuzzy on the whole thing. Has anyone tried it? How does it differ from strength training? Did you find it helpful? I'd be interested in any info - good, bad, ugly. I really want to develop the habits of being active, so I'm open to all options & want to hear about new stuff.

    Fat burning tricks...

Thanks for the info! I forwarded it to my trainer, as I'm really trying to get the most out of my workouts. I don't care where info comes from, as long as it helps me become healthier!

  12. I had 5 incisions with my surgery on May 16, all but one less than an inch long, and they are all almost completely faded 10 weeks later. It depends on how you heal and your skin, but the scars aren't bad. Single incision with the possibility of additional incisions would not have motivated me to travel. As it was, I was two hours away from home and the drive back afterwards was less than enjoyable. However, everyone is different. Best of luck to you, and congrats on getting approved!

    Hate my NUT

So the cost of my surgery includes 1 year of services with a nutritionist, as many times as I'd like. The problem is they only have 1 NUT on staff, and I don't like her! She's completely unhelpful, she just tells me the same things over & over (get more Protein, avoid carbs, ignore your cravings) but never tells me HOW. Also, she's never had WLS, and has never been overweight. She just does not get it! I've complained to the surgeon, but he thinks she's great. So...any recommendations for a NUT in the San Jose, CA area that specializes in WLS patients? Preferably one who has overcome obesity in some way as well - it would be nice to work with someone who actually understands our journey. I'm open to other suggestions also. Thanks!

    Hate my NUT

SO happy for those of you who have had a good experience with your NUT! I hope to join you soon - another poster was kind enough to give me a referral to a new NUT and I am so excited to try her out! I don't care WHAT size she is, as long as she is positive and interested in helping me make the most of my sleeve!

Why I Post aka That guy's an A Hole

Cheri, thanks for sharing that post. So many of us truly appreciate the efforts of the vets who DO show up, I hope you & Paul (and Laura-Ven, and Fiddleman, and...) will continue to do so despite some of the negative aspects. Some of us really rely on you and are grateful for your voices of reason!

    Hump

Laura & Paul, you guys crack me up! My hump has diminished and is just disappearing. Thankfully! This made me think of the scene in Young Frankenstein..."What hump?"

Why I Post aka That guy's an A Hole

Hi Paul - as a newbie, I have to say I really appreciate posts like yours. I am a little over 9 weeks post-op, and there are a couple of people on the forum - you, Laura-ven, Fiddleman, Cheri, LSereno, to name a few - whose guidance and knowledge I rely on. It's honest, blunt, and never mean. Maybe your posts aren't everyone's cup of tea; one size doesn't fit all, as we all know! But here's a "Thank You!" From someone who appreciates it!
